RONDLEIDING IN HET MUSEUM. Opgericht in 1829 en in een onlangs gerenoveerd neoklassiek gebouw, is dit het vooraanstaande Archeologische Museum in Griekenland, waar de selectie van Griekse archeologische schatten is ondergebracht die in de afgelopen eeuwen zijn ontdekt. Bijgevolg wordt u getrakteerd op veel van de meest unieke en verbazingwekkende meesterwerken die ooit zijn geproduceerd. Permanente tentoonstellingen zijn onder meer bronzen beelden zoals de beroemde wagenmenner, het Antikythera-mechanisme en de eerste werkende computer die 1000 jaar vóór iets soortgelijks door de oude Grieken werd geproduceerd, de Myceense goud- en juwelenhorde uit de graven van Agamemnon in de citadel in Mycene, en talloze anderen. We had a fabulous experience with Mando at the National Archeological Museum. She lead us on a chronological tour of Greek history punctuated by the truly remarkable highlights of the museum’s collection - some of which we would have missed without Mando’s guidance. We walked away with a much better understanding of how Greek culture and art evolved through the rise and fall and influence of multiple civilizations, and a new appreciation for the artifacts exhibited. Mando’s enthusiasm and love for the museum was infectious and charming. I had visited previously, but this time I was able to walk away with a much better appreciation and understanding of what I saw. Can’t recommend enough!!!

This was excellent and very informative. The kids learned a lot and saw a lot. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and patient with children. She communicated well with what we were seeing. It was something that you must see and do in Athens. All the history you get to see in one place in incredible.

This museum should not be seen with an audio guide or on your own The only way to confront 50 rooms is with a guide. Ours was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and friendly. Some of the history came to life.

Outstanding Tour of the National Archaeological Museum with Vassillis We had an outstanding two-hour tour of the National Archaeological Museum in Athens with Vassillis. He was an exceptional guide—knowledgeable, engaging, thoughtful, and very easy to understand. In just two hours, he brought thousands of years of Greek history to life and helped us appreciate the museum’s most important treasures in a way we never could have done on our own. We arrived early, and the guide was waiting for us. The tour was well laid out, visiting key items from this vary large museum in chronological order. The guide was very knowledgeable, with interesting information about each item we viewed, and the related history. Well paced tour. No one can see everything in this museum in a couple of hours, but this tour makes sure you see the historically important items, and the beautiful ones. Our tour was in English and the guide's English was excellent.
