Nara wordt ’s middags extreem druk, waardoor foto’s lastig worden. In onze tour bezoeken we de belangrijkste sites – Kofuku-ji, Todaiji, Nara Park en Kasuga Grand Shrine – voordat de menigte arriveert. €�︎GELIEVE HET VOLGENDE AANDACHTIG TE LEZEN€�︎ * Zorg dat je 10 minuten eerder aanwezig bent. Late gasten kunnen niet worden geaccepteerd en er worden geen restituties gegeven. * Voor de Kyoto/Osaka Station Pickup optie : de enkele reis naar Nara is inbegrepen. Het retourticket is niet inbegrepen. *Deze tour heeft maximaal 12 gasten. *In deze tour lopen we ongeveer 10.000 stappen. (trappen en heuvels inbegrepen) *We zullen de openbare trein (geen privévoertuig) gebruiken om van Kyoto / Osaka naar Nara te gaan, die elk ongeveer 1 uur duurt. * Duur van de tour: – Kyoto/Osaka Vertrek: 4,5 uur – Vergadering Kintetsu Nara Station: 3,5 uur Geef een telefoonnummer op dat bereikbaar is in Japan en op WhatsApp, zodat we een vlotte interactie hebben voor de tourdatum. De Kofuku-ji-tempel werd in 710 tegelijkertijd met de hoofdstad in Nara gesticht. Het is beroemd om zijn pagode van vijf verdiepingen, de op een na hoogste houten pagode in Japan, slechts zeven meter korter dan de pagode van vijf verdiepingen in de Toji-tempel in Kyoto. Bekijk deze tempel zelf bij zonsopgang!
Kasuga Grand Shrine is beroemd om zijn lantaarns, die zijn geschonken door gelovigen. Er zijn ongeveer 3000 stenen en bronzen lantaarns, die een van de meest historische heiligdommen van Japan vormen. Het heeft betekenis als de heilige grond die de aanwezigheid van herten in Nara Park inspireerde.
Nara Park is de thuisbasis van duizenden wilde herten. Deze herten worden als heilig beschouwd omdat er wordt gezegd dat een van de vier goden in het Kasuga-heiligdom het hert naar Nara reed. Het leuke aan deze herten is dat ze naar je buigen als je ze voert! Het is een ervaring die iedereen zou moeten proberen!
De Todaiji-tempel is beroemd om zijn Grote Boeddhabeeld, het grootste Boeddhabeeld in Japan. Tot voor kort was de mannenhal van deze tempel het grootste houten gebouw ter wereld. Het ziet er prachtig uit, maar als je eenmaal de geschiedenis kent, waarom het werd gebouwd en de historische betekenis ervan, zul je geschokt zijn!

Hina was an exceptional guide and made our Nara tour one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. She was warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable, sharing the history and significance of the famous Nara deer, beautiful temples, shrines, and many interesting cultural details along the way. Every stop felt meaningful because of the stories and context she provided. Be prepared for a fair amount of walking, but don’t let that discourage you. Hina paced the tour perfectly, making frequent rest and water breaks while regularly checking in to make sure everyone was comfortable. She went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great experience. What really set her apart was that she didn’t just focus on the tour itself. She also gave us excellent recommendations for things to do, places to eat, and other interesting sites in both Kyoto and Nara, helping us get even more out of our time in Japan. A special mention also goes to the colleague Hina was training. She was friendly, attentive, and already demonstrated the qualities of an excellent guide. Based on what we saw, she’s going to do a fantastic job. If you’re considering this tour, ask for Hina if you can. Her knowledge, professionalism, kindness, and genuine enthusiasm made for an unforgettable experience. We would recommend this tour without hesitation and would happily book with her again. Five stars.

DON’T GO. I was told this tour requires walking 12,000 steps completely exposed and it’s 37C or 99F today. This distance is not a problem in moderate weather but being exposed in those conditions is completely unsafe. 45 people were hospitalized here days ago due to heat stroke. The fact that the company was unwilling to refund me (I booked last minute then called when I got the details) is criminal. Additionally you’re taking TRANSIT and paying for everything (temple admission) it’s a selfish money grab and they will be responsible when someone gets hurt.

We had an amazing day in Nara with our guide Toshiki. He was excellent - very knowledgeable about all the places we visited but didn’t overwhelm us with facts. Toshi was personable and helpful with questions we had about Kyoto that were unrelated to our Nara day trip. He helped make this one of the most memorable days of our 2 week Japan trip. Our tour to Nara was great. Our tour guide Aki (she is the best tour guide in 3 weeks of Japan) had recommended that we start from Kyoto at 7:00 a.m. This way we were able to avoid the biggest rush of visitors. That really makes a difference, because the atmosphere in the beautiful park is much nicer with fewer guests in the early morning. The deer in Nara are sometimes very pushy and demanding and anything but cute. But the further you get into the quieter part, the animals also become more reserved and even bow (as in every tourist description). Overall, it is a very nice excursion and super easy to reach by train from Kyoto. Aki was able to tell us a lot about the history of the place; it was great for the whole family. Also suitable for teenagers who have the desire and interest. Highly recommended overall.
