Nairobi, 's werelds enige wildhoofdstad is de thuisbasis van het Nairobi National Park. Als enige beschermde natuurgebied in de wereld binnen een stad, dit park biedt men de mogelijkheid om ten minste vier van de big five die leeuwen, neushoorns (beide zwart-wit), Buffalo's, en de ongrijpbare zeldzame Luipaard te zien. Als u een beperkt verblijf in Nairobi heeft, overnacht of ook op vakantie bent naar Nairobi, dan is dit park strategisch om te proeven van wat Kenia te bieden heeft. Landen op het vliegveld, overstappen, dezelfde dag nog op safari naar het park en terug naar het vliegveld voor je volgende vlucht! Een vroeg vertrek, waar mogelijk, betekent idealiter koele temperaturen en kansen op sportieve vrij rondlopende dieren in de savanne. Het pop-up safarivoertuig geeft u het perfecte uitzicht op de skyline van Nairobi en wolkenkrabbers op de achtergrond van uw safari! Na het optionele bezoek aan het olifantenweeshuis en het genieten van een boeiende gamedrive, gaat u verder naar het Giraffe-centrum waar u meer te weten komt over de conversatie-inspanningen om een bedreigde giraffesoort te beschermen die bekend staat als de Rothschild Giraffe. Het Giraffe Centre is de oprichting van het African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (A.F.E.W. Kenia), een Keniaanse non-profitorganisatie. Hun belangrijkste doel is om Keniaanse schoolkinderen en jongeren voor te lichten over de wilde dieren en het milieu van hun land, en lokale en internationale bezoekers een kans te geven met 's werelds hoogste soort, de giraffe. Voor de giraffen kun je evengoed lunchen dan ga je verder naar het giraffencentrum.
Begrijp en waardeer natuurbehoudswerken bij het Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. De Nairobi kwekerij redt en rehabiliteert deze baby slagtanden & re-integreert ze terug in het wild na 3 jaar op de ithumba re-integratie eenheid ten noorden van Tsavo oosten. Dit is een juweel bezoek en een must voor iedereen die waardeert wilde dieren en het belang van het behoud van deze kritieke soort voor onze toekomstige generaties.
(OPTIONEEL) Je wordt vervolgens naar de Kobe Tough Beads and Leather gereden. Dit is een aardewerkbedrijf dat een van de mooiste kralen ter wereld maakt. Je krijgt alle etappes te zien, van start tot finish. Het is ook een unieke fabriek omdat er alleenstaande moederouders uit de arme buurt werken die de kost verdienen om hun gezin te onderhouden. Het is een vrouwenempowermentcentrum voor de gemeenschap. Het centrum werd opgericht door vrouwen die voorheen voor de Kazuri-kralenfabriek werkten toen deze tijdens de pandemie werd gesloten. Dit was voor hen een uitstel omdat ze voor hun gezin konden blijven zorgen. U heeft dan de mogelijkheid om naar de lunch te worden gebracht en vervolgens naar uw hotel te worden gebracht en later bij het hotel te worden afgezet.
(OPTIONEEL) Na een spannende rondleiding door de kralenfabriek nemen we u graag op uw gemak mee naar het handwerkcentrum van Utamaduni, anders gaan we verder naar uw drop-off. Utamaduni, de beste Afrikaanse ambachtswinkel in Nairobi, is een must om langs te gaan op weg naar enkele van de opwindende locaties in de groene buitenwijk Karen / Langata van Nairobi, bekend om de beroemde schrijver, de originele boerderij van Karen Blixen met prachtig uitzicht op de Ngong-heuvels . Breng een bezoek aan dit unieke ambachtshuis op de dag van uw bezoek aan Nairobi. De winkel, een omgebouwd Kikuyu-huis met 18 winkels, is een schatkamer van Afrikaanse ambachten, antiek en kunst, met vriendelijk personeel dat indien nodig helpt met inpakken of verzenden. Na het winkelen kunt u stoppen voor een drankje in het grote, prachtige tuinrestaurant en als u een vogelaar bent, zullen de vele exotische vogels u vermaken. Our family—including three children under 6 and my parents—had the BEST three days in Nairobi with Kelvin! He helped kick off our Kenya trip and set the bar incredibly high for the rest of our vacation. Everything was seamless from start to finish. Kelvin went above and beyond to make sure our boys had an amazing time. Even our autistic son, who can be slow to warm up to new people, quickly connected with him. Kelvin was incredibly patient, kind, and wonderful with all of our children. He is extremely knowledgeable and made sure we had the best experience everywhere we went. From finding the perfect spot to watch the elephants at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to sharing insights throughout each tour, he truly made every stop memorable. For reference, we booked day tours to Nairobi National Park, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, the Giraffe Centre, Kazuri Beads, Hells Gate National Park, and Lake Naivasha. Every excursion was well organized and exceeded our expectations. The next time we visit Kenya, we will book our entire trip with Kelvin—from multi-day safaris to lodging and everything in between. We can't recommend him highly enough!

Kelvin was an amazing tour guide. He knew how to find so many animals, and really knew Nairobi National Park very well. He was on time, and kept in touch via WhatsApp as to his ETA. His vehicle was also very new, and the seats were comfortable. He also had cold water available for us, and blankets on board. We were able to pay all of the Park fees with our credit cards, so you do not have to carry so much cash with you. Also, when we went to the Sheldrick animal orphanage, he walked us in and got us situated at a good spot for an amazing view of the baby elephants. So many other Tour guides just dropped their people off at the front gate and left them on their own. Thanks Kelvin! Kelvin hooked us up with a private tour at the giraffe center. We were able to feed the giraffes and learn so much about them. Shout out to SHALI as a wonderful guide at the giraffe center. Also, Kelvin was so knowledgeable about all the animals we saw, including little tidbits about each one as we went along. Amazing knowledge, friendly demeanor, and excellent at finding animals. Definitely five stars, we would go again.

Thanks to Douglas for an amazing tour. We choose the 4 wheel jeep and it was worth it as roads were very bumpy. Our day was very well organized and we enjoyed every moment. We saw plenty of wildlife and learnt alot. Asante Sana

We thoroughly enjoyed our Nairobi tour! This was the perfect way to see many of the city highlights on a tight timeframe. Our tour guide, Nicole, was prompt and professional! She managed to get us right in front of the animals in Nairobi National Park, including seeing rhinos. We loved the stops at Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and the Giraffe Center. The Kobe Tough Bead and Leather stop was also a hit with our family! Before booking our tour, we were allowed to select a restaurant of our choosing when booking the after requesting, which made it extremely nice to be able to set our own itinerary. The tour company provided us with the time to make a reservation, which worked perfectly into our schedule the day of our tour. The experience was carefully curated. From Nairobi National Park to the Elephant Orphanage that’s located inside the park and the complimentary location then to the Giraffe Center. It was an activity packed day and we got to see so much in just that one day of exploring. If you want to make the most of the time you have in Nairobi, I’d definitely recommend this tour!
If you are looking for a top tier tour company, I would highly recommend Rustic Nature Tours. We were fortunate to have Calvin as our guide, an excellent birder who was very knowledgeable about where to find both the unique birds and animals in Nairobi National Park. He is professional, organized, and quite personable. He even surprised us with a beautiful outdoor lunch cafe that was teaming with birds.
Kelvin was outstanding! Great pacing and Nairobi national Park is a hidden gem. But our guide, Kelvin really made the day.
