Geniet van een prachtige wandeltocht in Nafplion, een van de meest romantische steden van Griekenland. Ontmoet uw reisleider in uw hotel binnen de stadsgrenzen of bij de Land Gate, klaar voor uw avontuur in de Venetiaanse stad. Ga voorbij het punt waar Ioannis Kapodistrias, de eerste heerser van Griekenland, werd vermoord en eindigde op het Syntagma-plein, waar Venetiaanse en neoklassieke gebouwen je omgeving domineren. Verken de pittoreske steegjes van de oude stad, waar je historische gebouwen ziet, zoals het Eerste Parlement van de Griekse staat en het Archeologisch Museum. Je loopt dan bergopwaarts naar de Akropolis van Nafplion en bewonder het unieke panoramische uitzicht op de baai. Onze gids zal u ontmoeten in uw hotel en uw wandeling beginnen vanaf de landpoort, de enige toegang tot de Venetiaanse stad. We passeren de kathedraal van St. Spyridon, waar Ioannis Kapodistrias, de eerste gouverneur van Griekenland, werd vermoord. We komen terecht op het Syntagma-plein, waar Venetiaanse en neoklassieke gebouwen domineren. We zullen historische gebouwen zien zoals het Eerste Parlement van de Griekse Staat, het Oorlogsmuseum dat vroeger de eerste Militaire Academie van Griekenland was, het Archeologisch Museum dat het militaire pakhuis was, gebouwd in 1713, op het Filellinon-plein het oude douanegebouw sinds 1830 en vele andere monumenten van onverenigbare schoonheid.
Na een wandeling door de pittoreske steegjes van de oude stad, klimmen we naar Akronafplia, de Akropolis van Nafplion en bewonderen we de unieke panoramische uitzichten. Akronafplia fort, oorspronkelijk gebouwd door de Romeinen en Byzantijnen, is de oudste van de drie kastelen van Nauplion en tot de komst van de Venetianen, werd de stad binnen haar muren beperkt. De Turken noemden het Ic Kale (wat betekent innerlijk kasteel). Het werd gebruikt als een Griekse politieke gevangenis van 1936 tot 1956.

This was one of the best tours we’ve ever had. Our guide, Gina, was exceptionally good. She is knowledgeable about the history and architecture of Nafplio, and puts the sights into a historical and cultural context with an infectious enthusiasm. She also includes a stop at a local grocery store run by her friends George and Nicole where we sampled local cheeses, olive oil and Mastika which was very fun. I highly recommend this tour.
This was one of the best tours we’ve ever had. Gina was our guide and is fabulous. She is very knowledgeable about the city, its history and architecture. She talked about Greek culture and concluded with a stop at her friend’s George and Nicole’s grocery store where we sampled cheese and olive oil and Greek alcohol. We highly recommend Gina’s tour.

Gina was our tour guide. She was most excellent! The old city of Naplion was a wonderful walking tour, very educational and simply a lovely town. Gina took us to an olive oil and cheese shop where the owners, George and Nicole educated us about the cheese making process and the health benefits of olive oil. George is a third generation cheese maker and the experience was wonderful.
Our tour guide Gina was an expert in all things Nafplio, old and new(er). She provided history, culture and experiences which are all required for a memorable tour. She (and her assistant Becca) had great communication skills and was very personable. Excellent tour, I would do it again. Thank you!
It was AMAZING! Our guide was so knowledgeable and gave us so much information. He was friendly and kind. We had a wonderful time. The walk was easy. We got personal attention and he answered all our questions.
It was a bit long for what there was to see but the cheese factory at the end made up for it. Guide was good
One of the best tours we took while in Greece. Our guide Gina was incredibly knowledgeable, going over the history of Nafplio with warmth and humour. We were able to see all the major historical sites and got a comprehensive view of the city’s history. The tour felt very personalized, with Gina providing more in depth explanations of topics we were more curious about. Excitingly the tour guide did not focus solely on ancient history, but provided us with an understanding of Nafplio as a modern city. The tour concluded with a lovely cheese and olive oil tasting at Anapliotiko Mpakaliκo. Would recommend to anyone coming yo Nafplio, especially with Gina as a tour guide.
We had a fascinating half day with Gina. Her knowledge of Nafplion ancient history tumbles out with her enthusiasm. We saw numerous historical sites and churches - beautifully made inside. A stop for wonderful lemon ice cream and finally a tasting of local food at The Grocery Store. Run by a 3rd generation husband and wife. What knowledge and passion for their range of local products. A real treat. Gina is a true and considerate professional. We much enjoyed her delightful company and her passion for her work. Thank you Gina.
Our guide, Venia, was very knowledgeable and thorough. She spent more time with us than we expected and was always able to answer all of our questions. After the tour we knew our way around the historical center and felt we had learned a lot.
