Een dagtocht naar de Kazbegi-regio, slingerend door de militaire weg van Georgië. Je kunt bergen, rivieren, kastelen en de Holy Trinity Church van Gergeti verkennen op een hoogte van 2.130 meter, die een prachtig uitzicht op Kazbegi biedt.

Zhinvali, ook Jinvali, is een kunstmatig waterreservoir aan de rivier de Aragvi in Georgië. De bouw van de hydro-elektrische dam vormde het Zhinvali-reservoir. De dam is gebouwd in 1986. U zult blij zijn met het water perfect blauw van kleur omringd door bergen.
Ananuri Fort is een zestiende-eeuws kasteelcomplex aan de rivier de Aragvi. Het fort staat naast de beroemde Georgian Military Highway, met uitzicht op een groot meer van Jinvali. De hoge stenen muren met torentjes beschermen twee kerken, een uitkijktoren en een reservoir. De voorgevel van de kerk is prachtig versierd met patronen in dieren, bloemen en Keltische stijl.

De volgende stop onderweg is Gudauri, een opmerkelijk skigebied in Georgia. Het resort ligt op een hoogte van 7217 voet (2200 meter) boven de zeespiegel. Het eerste lagere liftstation bevindt zich op een hoogte van 6528 voet (1990 meter) boven de zeespiegel en de laatste, of bovenaan, het station ligt op 3,306 meter genaamd top Sadzele. Het resort biedt skimogelijkheden van hoge kwaliteit. Het skiseizoen duurt van december tot april.
Het Vriendschapsmonument Rusland-Georgië of het Verdrag van Georgievsk Monument is een monument dat in 1983 is gebouwd ter gelegenheid van het tweehonderdste verjaardag van het Verdrag van Georgievsk en de voortdurende vriendschap tussen Sovjet-Georgië en Sovjet-Rusland. Prachtig uitzicht!
De bron van mineraalwater en ongewone rotsen die hier in miljoenen jaren zijn gevormd.
Op een hoogte van 7119 voet (2170 meter) werd het twaalfde of dertiende-eeuwse monument gebouwd op de zuidelijke hellingen van Mkinvarcveri. De Gergeti Trinity Church is een belangrijke tempel, opmerkelijk vanwege het prachtige landschap. De Gergeti Trinity Church ligt op een heuvel direct onder het torenhoge witte massief van de berg Kazbek, die op 5.033 meter ligt. Gebouwd zeshonderd jaar geleden, hebben de stenen herhaaldelijke sneeuwstormen, regen en invasie doorstaan als een trots symbool van de Georgische veerkracht in het aangezicht van tegenspoed. Het is de perfecte foto van de fotograaf. Bekijk onze optie - wandelen naar de Gergeti Trinity Church of gewoon een chauffeur met een auto!
Het is de op twee na hoogste berg in Georgië (na de berg Shkhara en Janga) en de zevende hoogste top in het Kaukasusgebergte. Kazbek is ook de op één na hoogste vulkanische top in de Kaukasus, na de berg Elbrus. De top ligt direct ten westen van de stad Stepantsminda en is de meest prominente geografische trekpleister van het gebied. Mount Kazbek is de hoogste top van Oost-Georgië.
Op de terugweg naar Tbilisi stoppen we bij een van de restaurants in het dorp Pasanauri. Deze plaats wordt beschouwd als de geboorteplaats van Georgische dumplings - Khinkali. Hier kunt u ook verse riviervis, lamsvlees en nog veel meer proberen.

This tour was nothing short of exceptional. From start to finish, everything was flawlessly organized and thoughtfully executed. My guide, Gio, was outstanding – incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about his country. He shared not only historical facts, but also cultural context and personal insights that gave real depth to the experience. It was a true pleasure to spend the day in his company. Equally impressive was driver, Pancho. He drove with great care and confidence, even on challenging mountain roads, and was always courteous, and attentive. His calm presence added a lot to the overall comfort of the day. The tour followed the itinerary exactly as promised, and every stop was both visually stunning and culturally enriching. The guide was excellent and all the info she gave about this and that made it a good tour. Hence, even tough the driving distance was significant we still had fun. The mountains were of course also very interesting to see.

I had an amazing day with Khatuna from friendly.ge exploring the Kazbegi area. What a breathtaking tour! We went in March when the mountains are still snowy and the view was everything. Out guide, Aleksi, was also great, told us many things about the mountains, Georgian culture and more. He was very helpful and flexible with accommodating all our requests. We can only recommend this tour if you love the mountains and want a full day of eyecandy :)

We've had a wonderful day with Giorgi. It was both full of natural wonders and historical adventure. Through the entire trip we discussed architecture, Georgia's blockbuster history and unique culture and language. From ancient time through Golden era to the sorrow times of strife, Russian Imperial rule, being a part of USSR and back to independence, not historical stone was left unturned. It was accompanied by interesting anecdotes and spectacular views from the car windows. Giorgi was also accommodating when we wanted to take pictures outside of the standard itinerary. I think out of everything I've taken as a tour in Georgia, that was the most interesting one. I'd like to mention that he speaks both English and exceptionally fluent Russian so we were switching back-and-forth as required to understand each other. Keep it awesome, folks!
