Verken 's werelds rijkste muzikale stad, te beginnen met de legendarische Preservation Hall. Bezoek de site van het Old French Opera House en wandel door de Tango Belt en May Bailey's voordat je aankomt bij de Treme-sectie. Slenter door de Tango Belt naar het New Orleans Musicians Tomb op St. Louis Cemetery # 1, waarvan het gebruik door de muziekdynastie Barbarin Family werd geschonken voor gratis begrafenis aan muzikanten. Vanaf de begraafplaats kun je de overblijfselen van Storyville bekijken (inclusief Frank Early's Saloon waar 'Pretty Baby' werd geschreven), een eeuwigdurend rosse buurt waarvan de salons koning Oliver, Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton en Sidney Bechet presenteerden en meer in de tijd dat jazz werd geboren. Ga vanuit Storyville naar Louis Armstrong Park, Congo Square, de enige plek in Noord-Amerika waar pure West-Afrikaanse religieuze rituelen en muzikale tradities werden uitgevoerd.

Wandel door de Tango Belt naar de New Orleans Musicians Tomb op St. Louis Cemetery #1, waarvan het gebruik werd geschonken door de muziekdynastie Barbarin Family voor gratis begrafenis aan muzikanten. De eerste begrafenis die plaatsvond was van Lloyd Washington van de Ink Spots op 23 oktober 2004.
Vanaf de begraafplaats bekijk je de overblijfselen van Storyville (inclusief Frank Early's "My Place" Saloon waar "Pretty Baby" werd geschreven), de legendarische rosse buurt van rond de eeuwwisseling waarvan de salons de wil van King Oliver, Buddy presenteerden Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet en nog veel meer in de tijd dat jazz werd geboren.
Bekijk vanuit Storyville het Basin Street Station en ga vervolgens naar Louis Armstrong Park, de locatie van Congo Square, de historische plaats van Afrikaanse slavenbijeenkomsten, de enige plek in Noord-Amerika waar pure West-Afrikaanse religieuze rituelen en muzikale tradities werden uitgevoerd.
Congo Square wordt beschouwd als de bron van alle New Orleans-muziek en daarom zo veel van 's werelds populairste lied. Het is ook de locatie van het eerste New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival (1970) en het Gemeentelijk Auditorium. Nadat je Armstrong Park hebt verlaten, ga je het gebouw binnen waar de legendarische J&M Studios waren gehuisvest die de "New Orleans Sound" creëerden met New Orleanians als Professor Longhair, Dave Bartholomew, Fats Domino, Guitar Slim, Shirley & Lee, Lloyd Price, Ernie K-Doe , Allen Toussaint, Clarence "Frogman" Henry en bezoekers waaronder Little Richard, Ray Charles en Jerry Lee Lewis. Leer de oorsprong van New Orleans Bounce Music en bekijk 's werelds grootste straatmuzikanten die de vlam tot op de dag van vandaag dragen.

Listening to the history of jazz and how music is integrated with food, culture, and dancing. Loved that my son was able to play piano with our wonderful tour guide.
The best guided tour I’ve ever been on. David, our tour guide, was absolutely incredible. His knowledge of NOLA music and the convergence of cultures was remarkable. David was Personable, funny and full of energy. He also brought along an iPad and small speaker so he could show us examples of music, history, and culture. I’ve traveled a lot, but this was the best tour.

Our tour was cancelled due to the guide being sick. We were told we would be receiving g a refund, but 3 months later, we have not been refunded yet.
Dave was a very experienced and passionate host. We enjoyed what turned out to be a private tour for the two of us. Our eyes were opened to the history and culture of New Orleans through it's music from Roots to present day. Politics, religion and even architecture were woven into the fabric of the story. Great job Dave! It was so nice to meet and talk with you!
It was definitely an amazing experience and our guide, David was so enthusiastic, energetic, and knowledgeable. Our only disappointment was that the tour was not as described with the many stopping points. We stayed in Louis Armstrong park the entire time. The two hours did feel like ten minutes and we are still very happy we did the tour. I just wish they would update the listing.

Our tour guide David was one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met when it comes to music history. If you want to really learn the origins of jazz and truly how music connects to everything culturally & historically in New Orleans, this tour is a must.
