Uw dagkaart voor de Mount Rigi biedt toegang tot een van de beroemdste bergen van Zwitserland. Een geliefd uitstapje voor gezinnen, wandelaars of liefhebbers van een ontspannen dag in de natuur, de berg ligt als een schiereiland binnen het Vierwoudstrekenmeer en het Zugmeer, midden in het hart van Zwitserland. Het is zeer gemakkelijk verbonden van Luzern met de boot, trein of prive-auto naar Vitznau of Weggis, en van Zürich met een directe treinlijn of snelweg A4 naar Arth-Goldau. De 360 graden uitzicht vanaf de top zijn prachtig en de talloze optionele activiteiten zorgen voor volledige ontspanning voor iedereen.

- GOED OM TE WETEN: Het ticket kan op elk moment tijdens de openingstijden worden gebruikt; je hoeft je niet aan de starttijd te houden. De trein rijdt elk uur!

My wife and I had a fabulous visit to Rigi, enjoying both the scenic train ride to the summit, and the fabulous 360 views of the surrounding countryside. Nature at its best, and now need to climb the mountain.

This is an unbelievable hike with gorgeous views. Many ups and downs and some walks close to ridges but overall one of the best hikes and probably the best views I have ever seen. Rivals Path of the Gods on Amalfi Coast.

Boattrip from Beckenried is nice. Luckily on the way back we did not take the direction Luzern cause that was overcrowded (end of May). This made us decide NOT to do the laketour the next day. From the boat to the train is very easy. Hiking down too (Kaltbad). So far very good. Why a 4 ? The place is overcrowded, the food is average... When you hike down to Kaltbad, best to take the long route (not following the traintrack). At least you have some peace. The train down was crowded. The views are great (as you might expect here :) ) So : should you do it ? Sure. Just expect to feel part of a big mass of people going up, taking pictures and going down. It's a smooth and well-oiled organisation (not cheap) catering more for the overseas visitors who spend 2 days Luzern ... than for the people who want to experience the area. That's fine, as long as you know it :)

A lovely trip. Unfortunately it was very cloudy on the day we went. It would have been a fantastic trip with incredible views of it had been a clear day. Easy to book with everything needed.

Bring your hiking shoes and walk along the beautiful Alpine trails. We walked along a beautiful trail and had magnificent views all to ourselves. If you are not a walker or hiker you can still enjoy the ride to the top, but it still does involve a significant uphill walk to the transport area.
Not enough trains. A lot of money to stand. They are on a one hour timetable which completely cannot cope with the number of people. The day pass isn't worth the money because after one trip you'll just want to get to the nearest bus stop and cut your losses. Standard tat in the shop, most expensive drinks and food I've seen at the top of a mountain. Maybe thats why they hardly run any trains.

On days with beautiful weather and during holiday time in Lucerne, we welcome a higher number of visitors. To meet this demand, we operate with additional rolling stock whenever possible. However, due to the single-track nature of the Mount Rigi Railway, trains must run on an hourly timetable to allow for safe crossings along the route. The whole journey was great with scenery. We took 3 types of transport. The staff only checked our tickets before taking the cogwheel train up and at the Cable car station going down. No ticket checked when taking the Boat. They cant scan the QR code and have to check the details manually. Since it was Autumn (Oct), the temperature was quite cold, sitting at the boat deck was very cold and windy. You need 1st class tix to go upstairs and the restaurant downstairs was packed, some ppl with 4 pax just ordered 1 drink and occupied the table. To be honest, not sure if the locals will buy the boat tix (since no one checked) or is it because it was a public holiday (St. Leodegar's Day). The trip going up and returning have very nice scenery and as a tourist we did not planned any hiking so there isn't much to do. We only spent less than 2hrs at Mt Rigi so the whole trip was just half a day. Our Journey: 1. Lucerne → Vitznau (Boat) Depart from Lucerne Lake Pier (Bahnhofquai), right next to Lucerne train station. Duration: ~1h. 2. Vitznau → Rigi Kulm (Cogwheel Train Up) At Vitznau, connect directly to the **Rigi Bahn cogwheel train. Duration: ~35–40 min. Return 3. Rigi Kulm → Rigi Kaltbad (Cogwheel Train Down) Take the cogwheel train down from Rigi Kulm → Rigi Kaltbad. Duration: ~15 min. 4. Rigi Kaltbad → Weggis (Cable Car Down) Took the aerial cable car from Rigi Kaltbad → Weggis. Duration: ~10 min. The cable car schedule every 1 hr and to go to the station, you need to take the lift or stairs down from the Mineral Baths Rigi Kaltbad. 5. Weggis → Lucerne (Boat Back) Need to walk about 10 to 15 mins from Weggis cable car station to Weggis pier (there are signs along the way). Took the boat back to Lucerne. Duration: ~45 min.

I was traveling solo and got a late start to my day and I was torn on how to make the best use of what was left of the day and this was a great decision! The cogwheel rail is the oldest in the world which is pretty cool in itself. The ride up is picturesque and smooth. Once you get to the top you can walk around, lay in the sun on one of the lounge chairs, and overall take in the stunning view. I didn't eat at the cafe but it did seem like it had some great options.

Easy to navigate from Vitznau( took boat from Luzern) cog wheel up saw beautiful scenery! Beautiful a top Mt Rigi with cow bells singing! Easy to walk down to other stops along the train! Enjoyed! Must do !

This is a brilliant day out and the views are exceptional. We took the train to the summit from Vitznau and then walked the extended route to Rigi Kaltbad before getting the train back. All of the different walking routes are well signposted with estimated times for each route. There are numerous places to take awesome photos and the walk was not too challenging. I would highly recommend.
