Als je nog niet helemaal zeker weet of je klaar bent voor een volledig Kilimanjaro-avontuur, wil je misschien een van onze kortere Kilimanjaro-tochten maken via de Marangu-route. Slechts één dag op de berg is genoeg om je een volledig beeld te geven van wat er nodig is om deel uit te maken van een Kilimanjaro trekking expeditie. Dit avontuur is perfect als je met kinderen reist die nog niet klaar zijn voor de volledige wandeling, of als je vakantie te kort is maar je toch wilt genieten van de reis. Een eendaagse Kilimanjaro-tocht leidt je naar de Mandara Hut en terug naar de toegangspoort.

Onze gidsen arriveren 's ochtends bij het hotel om u te ontmoeten en een korte briefing te houden, waarna u wordt overgebracht naar de oostelijke ingang van het Kilimanjaro National Park: Marangu Gate (1.860 m/6.046 f)). Na de snelle formaliteit van het registreren van de klimvergunningen en het registreren bij de reddingsdienst, begint de groep aan de trekking naar de Mandara Hut (2.700 m/8.858 ft). De trekkingroute omvat een doorgang door het regenwoud waar tropische buien zeer waarschijnlijk zijn, dus we raden aan regenjassen mee te nemen. Wanneer u het kamp bereikt, ontvangt u lunchpakketten. Na de lunch kunt u een wandeling maken naar de prachtige nabijgelegen Maundi-krater. Het duurt ongeveer 30 minuten, waarna je begint aan de afdaling naar de uitgang van het park - de Marangu-poort. Daar haalt onze chauffeur u op en brengt u naar uw hotel in de stad Moshi.

What I particularly loved about this magnificent experience is the interaction with the driver, who is a well of knowledge: he talked to me a lot about the Kisuahili language, the natural reserves/parks/mountains and cities to visit in Tanzania, the different tribes one encounters, the specific fruits of each city he is driving through... about Tanzanian culture. Finally, when the hike on Kilimanjaro began, I was immensely impressed by the beauty of the ecosystem found there: full of vine trees, species of monkeys, and the abundant variety of birds. Even the sound environment is interesting: you listen to the different melodies of the birds and the sounds of monkeys communicating with each other. And of course, when you reach the highest point of the hike, there is immense pride in having been able to (thanks to the guide) arrive at this spot. The only downside is that the hike is so beautiful that one wants to go further towards the summit (of course in several stages with shelters), and not immediately return to the base camp.
The hike, our mountain guide Zeno, our driver Nasibu, our contact person Innocent were all absolutely incredible. The tour was fantastic. Thel park is beautiful and we had such a great guide. He was so friendly and answered all our questions. And the cook was brilliant. The food was so incredibly good! On top of all that, sleeping in tents between you was just unique! I would recommend it to anyone!

Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut:- ▪️Route: Marangu Gate (1,870m) to Mandara Hut (2,720m). ▪️Distance: Approx. 8km ▪️Duration: 4-5 hours ▪️Accommodation: Mandara Hut Dress code: Base Layer: Basic Breathable shirt and hiking pants. Foot wear: walking shoes / sketchers / sports shoes. The trail was not intimidating and it didn’t require much energy. Moving at sustainable pace, we made it to Mandara Hut in under 4 hours 😀
