Het Mornington Peninsula, gelegen op iets meer dan een uur van Melbourne, is een van Victoria's meest pittoreske kustbestemmingen. Bekend om zijn prachtige stranden, glooiende wijngaarden, charmante dorpjes aan zee, prachtige natuurlijke landschappen, kustwandelpaden, spectaculaire nationale parken en een miljoen fotomogelijkheden. Aan boord van Port Phillip Bay en de Bass Strait oceaan, de regio is een must-visit bestemming voor reizigers op zoek naar een authentieke Australische kust ervaring. Verken het prachtige Mornington-schiereiland met je eigen privégroep. Bekijk de prachtige kustlijn, historische townships, spectaculaire nationale parken, trendy cafés en het uitzicht vanaf de hoogste top van het schiereiland. Loop langs het strand, rijd door wijngaarden, slenter door de kosmopolitische lokale straten en leg een miljoen fotomomenten vast. De tour is zo ontworpen dat reizigers de drukte kunnen vermijden en de meest schilderachtige attracties van het schiereiland kunnen ervaren in het comfort van een privéauto.
De eerste stop is het bruisende historische stadje Mornington. Bezoek de prachtige vissershaven en de lokale pier, loop door de levendige hoofdstraat en stop voor een koffiepauze.
We verlaten de kust en gaan landinwaarts naar het wijnland. Aankomst bij Arthurs Seat, het hoogste punt van het schiereiland, waar het uitzicht zich uitstrekt over Port Phillip Bay naar Melbourne.
De volgende stop is Sorrento, de thuisbasis van Victoria's eerste Europese nederzetting. Sorrento is een pittoresk stadje met prachtige boerderijen, historische gebouwen, de veerbootterminal en prachtige cafés en stranden. De lunch vindt plaats in een van de vele eetgelegenheden in Sorrento.
Bekijk het spectaculaire achterstrand van Portsea vanaf de kliffen. Een prachtige achtergrond voor foto's, met uitzicht over de beukende branding, gevaarlijke scheuren en tientallen riffen. Dit is de kustlijn waar de Australische premier Harold Holt in 1967 verdween.
Zorg ervoor dat je je wandelschoenen bij je hebt voor deze visueel verbluffende wandeling op de klif tussen Sorrento en Portsea. Neem dit korte golvende pad tussen de zomerhuizen van Melbourne's A-lijst en hun privésteigers beneden, terwijl je uitkijkt over het adembenemende uitzicht op het water over Port Phillip Bay. De wandeling is slechts 1,5 kilometer heen en terug.
De beroemde badhuizen van het Mornington-schiereiland hebben altijd fotografen aangetrokken. Het middagzonlicht is meestal de beste tijd om wat foto's te maken van deze kleurrijke strandhutten en de achtergrond van rode kliffen en rijk geel zand.
Een korte kustwandeling langs het ruige en spectaculaire Cape Schanck cliff top wandelpad. Prachtige fotomogelijkheden van de vuurtoren en het meest zuidelijke punt op het Mornington Peninsula.

We had Karin as our guide, we weren’t interested in wineries and hot springs. Karin understood perfectly and showed us all the sights. She’s also extremely knowledgeable about the areas and its history. My son is intellectually impaired, and he loved the whole day. I can’t thank Karin enough for being so understanding with us both.

Lovely day trip around Mornington Peninsula. Karin’s local knowledge made the trip more interesting, she was able to give us historical information and personal anecdotes. she was able to ensure that I could access areas in my wheelchair. The day was well balanced with breaks at Mornington and Sorrento and shorter photo stops along the way. We were given advice on where to eat and never felt rushed. The final stop at a vineyard was the perfect end to the day. Communication to arrange the trip was thorough and response to my queries was always quick.

Morningston peninsula is absolutely gorgeous. We enjoyed visiting quaint towns, beautiful beaches, on both the bay and ocean sides of the peninsula, gorgeous vistas, and a little known walk pass million dollar homes overlooking cliff rimed beaches. We had lunch reservations at the Main Ridge Estate winery (also highly recommended) and Karin, our guide, tailored our tour so we’d see all the sights, enjoy our lunch and get us back to our cruise ship prior to departure. Karin is just a lovely, knowledgeable and welcoming person, with a clean and comfortable van making for a most wonderful day. Should we return to Melbourne we will be contacting Karin again to arrange another visit. Well worth the money.

Had a wonderful day exploring the Mornington Peninsula with Victoria Explore Discover Tour co. Karin was our guide for the day and was fantastic- has an incredible knowledge of the peninsula and shared its history along the way as well as keeping us on track and away from the crowds! We stopped for many photo ops along the coast. Saw some great beaches, colorful beach huts, 2 light houses and the London Bridge viewing area. The scenery was spectacular but highlight for me was seeing kangaroos in the wild! We stopped in the morning for a stretch/ coffee break and later for a nice lunch- I had snapper and fries and my husband had calamari (there’s a variety of restaurants to choose from). We followed the meal up with a walk around town and homemade ice cream!
