World Heritage Cruises is een lokale cruise die door een familie wordt beheerd en gelegen is in Strahan, de prachtige en ruige westkust van Tasmanië, waar u de zuidwestelijke wildernis in die op de Werelderfgoedlijst staat. Aan boord van de 35 meter lange catamaran 'Harbour Master' kunt u genieten van de natuurlijke en historische kenmerken van de westkust van Tasmanië - inclusief Hells Gates, een scala aan aquacultuurboerderijen, een rondleiding door een veroordeelde nederzetting op Sarah Island en twee uur varen over de Gordon River waar u van boord gaat een wandeling door het regenwoud om de South West Wilderness, die op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat, te verkennen. Cruises vertrekken dagelijks om 9.00 uur vanaf de Strahan Wharf en keren om 15.00 uur terug. Een voortreffelijke lunch met Tasmaanse producten wordt aan boord vers bereid en is inbegrepen tijdens de cruise.

Dagelijks om 9.00 uur vertrekt uw cruise vanuit Strahan Je eerste bezienswaardigheid is Hells Gates, de smalle kanaalingang van de wilde Zuidelijke Oceaan naar Macquarie Harbour. Ga verder langs de haven om aquacultuurhokken te zien die gevuld zijn met duizenden oceaanforellen en Atlantische zalm. Je eerste stop van de boot is Sarah Island, een rondleiding van een uur op het eiland geeft een scherp beeld van de barre omstandigheden in wat de eerste en misschien wel meest beruchte strafkolonie van Tasmanië was. Stap terug aan boord en terwijl u geniet van uw lunch vaart u langzaam langs de majestueuze Gordon River en herontdekt u de rust terwijl u diep in het oude regenwoud glijdt. Stap uit bij Heritage Landing voor een wandeling langs de promenade door het door UNESCO beschermde Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park en bekijk het verstilde, met korstmos bedekte regenwoud en een van de oudste bewoners, een 2000 jaar oude Huon-dennenboom. Stap weer in en leun achterover en ontspan terwijl u uw reis terug naar Strahan maakt.

We had a wonderful time on our day trip during the off peak season. The staff were friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable of the local history. It was a pristine winter day. Perfect for a day on the water. Very comfortable and exceeded our expectations.

Warm welcome on arrival. Very spacious and spotlessly clean boat with air-conditioned comfort. Facilities clean and beautifully maintained.Excellent viewing of scenery 360 degrees. Comfy recling seats, either with slide-away tray tables or groups of 4 or 6 chairs around large tables. Huge lunch provided, dietary requirements catered for. Open bar, snack, cafe area. Captain Riley invites (encourages) people to visit (help) him on the bridge. 2 stops along the way, 1 hour historical guided tour around Sarah Island, brilliant informative commentary, and a 30 minute nature and fauna chat further on. Also very interesting. After final docking, yet another mini tour and demonstration in the old saw mill. Gift shop on site. All staff very friendly and attentive. Nothing too much trouble. We highly recommend this tour.

Beautiful boat cruise along the harbour and down the Gordon river. Interesting historical sites and beautiful scenery. The lovely staff catered for all our needs and more.

Fantastic all round experience on the red boat! Comfortable, spacious seats, winning food throughout the journey, and scenery that photos do not do justice. It must be seen to be believed! In the words of our captain, 20/10 winter day to undertake the cruise. Sun, mist, rain and reflection aplenty, both while on the boat and on our two land explorations on Sarah Island and Heritage Landing. All staff on board were generous with their knowledge and helpful in service. Well worth every cent! 🤩

This was a superb day! Whilst initially thinking it was expensive, the day was well worth it! The experience is really not to be missed if you are visiting Strahan. The crew were fabulous; family connections and passion since the late 19th century clearly evident. The cakes and lunch were delicious and their knowledge of the area was fascinating to listen to.

The Gordon River cruise is a really good activity to do when visiting Strahan. From the moment you board the boat to the moment you leave you are treated with commentary from your Captain; the tour of Sarah Island and also a Heritage walk. The lunch was delicious and the boat is very comfortable and run by very experienced and friendly staff!
