Breng een hele dag door met het combineren van spiritualiteit, berglandschappen en het allerbeste van de Catalaanse gastronomie. Vertrek van Barcelona naar Montserrat, een van Catalonië's meest emblematische bergen, een nationaal park en bedevaartsoord voor meer dan duizend jaar. Stap aan boord van de iconische tandradtrein (cremallera) naar het klooster, met een adembenemend uitzicht op de heilige berg. Bovenaan leidt uw Gids een rondleiding van 45 minuten door het benedictijnenklooster, gesticht in de 11e eeuw en de thuisbasis van de vereerde Zwarte Maagd (La Moreneta), patrones van Catalonië. Het bezoek wordt afgesloten met een exclusieve proeverij van traditionele likeuren die door de monniken met de hand zijn vervaardigd: ratafía en de beroemde Aromes de Montserrat. Een historische Catalaanse kasteel-wijnmakerij met een prachtig uitzicht op de wijngaard wacht, waar u zult genieten van een traditionele Catalaanse tapas lunch met dessert. Uw Gids leidt een wandeling door de wijngaarden en het historische landgoed, gecombineerd met een proeverij van drie kenmerkende DO Pla de Bages-wijnen, allemaal toegewijd aan duurzame productie.

Montserrat is een klooster op een bergtop, gelegen op de top van een ongewone rotsberg. Het is het hoogste punt van de Catalaanse laaglanden. Het klooster van Montserrat herbergt “la Moreneta”, ook wel de Zwarte Madonna genoemd. De legende zegt dat de benedictijnse monniken het beeld vonden en dat ze het beeld niet konden verplaatsen om hun klooster te bouwen, dus besloten ze het rond het beeld te bouwen. Montserrat werd in 1987 aangewezen als Nationaal Park. Tegenwoordig is het een bedevaartsoord voor mensen over de hele wereld. Eenmaal in Montserrat kunt u genieten van een rondleiding van 45 minuten met een kleine groep, waarna u 2 uur de tijd heeft om op eigen gelegenheid te verkennen. Je kunt het museum bezoeken, de zelfgemaakte drank van het klooster proeven, een gemakkelijke wandeling maken naar het kruis van Saint Miguel voor een ongelooflijk uitzichtpunt, de Sant Joan-kabelbaan beklimmen, prachtige foto's maken, lokale producten kopen op de boerenmarkt en nog veel meer.
De oorsprong van het klooster is onzeker, maar er wordt aangenomen dat de Maagd van Monsterrat (La Moreneta) rond 880 werd gevonden (rondleidingen van 8.30 en 13.30 uur zijn inclusief kaartjes voor La Moreneta). Volgens de legenden bouwden de monniken het klooster rond het standbeeld. Het klooster functioneert nog steeds met meer dan 70 monniken. De bouw van de basiliek van Montserrat begon in de 16e eeuw en herbergt nu een kunstmuseum. Het is ook de plaats waar la Escolania, een van de oudste jongenskoren van Europa, optreedt tijdens religieuze ceremonies (je kunt ernaar luisteren tijdens de tour van 9.30 uur).
Zodra we klaar zijn met ons bezoek aan Montserrat, brengt ons transport u naar een 12e-eeuwse traditionele boerderij op een familiebedrijf in de regio Bages. Hier geniet u van een traditionele Catalaanse tapaslunch

What a wonderful day thanks to our guide Miro! I had a great time and was such a fun way to see Montserrat
This was an excellent full-day tour and one of the highlights of our time in Spain. The organisation was smooth, the guide was friendly, knowledgeable and engaging, and the driver made the day comfortable and stress-free. We felt safe throughout and everything ran on time. Montserrat itself was impressive, with incredible scenery, history and culture. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions and fire risk restrictions, some activities were unavailable on the day, including the walk to Saint Michael’s Cross and the Sant Joan Funicular. While that was disappointing, it was outside the control of the tour operator and safety always comes first. The standout for us was the winery visit and lunch. The food and wine were excellent, and the experience was made even better by the guide’s knowledge, storytelling and conversation around the table. It was a relaxed and enjoyable way to experience the region and learn more about local food and wine culture. We were a group of four and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the day. A well-organised tour that offers a great mix of scenery, history, culture, food and wine. Must do! Highly recommended.

Miro was an incredible tour guide. We traveled with our sons, ages 8 and 11, who peppered him with questions throughout the day. Miro was knowledgeable about not just the Montserrat monastery and wine region, but also niche Spanish and Catalan history.
