Word verliefd op een van de meest indrukwekkende steden in de noordelijke regio. Guimarães is trots de bakermat van de nationaliteit, want in de verre twaalfde eeuw werden we hier onafhankelijk van het koninkrijk León, dat was opgericht als de hoofdstad van het Portucalense County. Sindsdien heeft de stad tot in de 19e eeuw haar verdedigingsmuren, kasteel, burgh en arbeiders/boerenkwartieren behouden. Vandaag de dag kunnen we ons nog steeds verwonderen over de middeleeuwse ontstaansgeschiedenis, met de kleine pleintjes en smalle straatjes, naast het bewonderen van de grote monumenten en culturele erfenis die in elke hoek van de stad aanwezig zijn. Tijdens dit bezoek zullen we het hele gebied binnen en buiten de muren verkennen, waarbij we aandachtspunten en curiositeiten zullen aanraken. We klimmen ook met de auto naar het hoogste punt in de omgeving om de grootste bezienswaardigheidsplek te hebben en enkele verborgen juweeltjes te ontdekken. Als u kiest voor de zonsondergang / nacht bezoek, zult u worden verblind met de sfeer, bliksem en uitzicht op de stad!

Paleis uit de XV eeuw. Een van de meest bezochte monumenten in de noordelijke regio, en nog steeds een van de officiële residenties van het presidentschap. Toegang is optioneel.
Middeleeuws kasteel met fundering op de X eeuw. Bezoek op omgeving en binnen.
Kerk uit de X eeuw. Oudste constructie in de stad. Toegang is optioneel.
Voetgangersstraat. Is een van de mooiste en oudste in de stad. Vol details en verborgen juweeltjes.
Erfgoed van leer behandeling voor de schoen handwerk. Bezoek aan de arbeidsplaatsen en granieten tanks die als leerlooierijen werkten.
Een van de mooiste kerken van de stad! Toegang is optioneel.
Penha Park torent boven de stad uit en biedt een prachtig uitzicht met een indrukwekkend bereik van ongeveer 40 mijl. Het is ook de thuisbasis van verschillende tavernes en plaatsen van aanbidding onder de lokale bevolking.

Great tour. Smooth and short. Plenty of time for shopping. Pick up and drip off smooth. Recommend to book.
We had such a great day seeing Guimaraes and Braga. Both cities were very interesting and beautiful. After coming from a few days in Porto it was nice not having such steep inclines to walk. Ricardo was our guide and he was very knowledgeable, informative and patient as we tend to wonder off a bit. He has a good sense of humor and is very personable. We learned a lot about Portugal and got a good history base to build on.
Anyone who loves visiting Portugal MUST visit Guimaraes to know how Portugal came to be. Our guide Ricardo was very pleasant, wonderful and gave very detailed history of this region and made a very pleasant walking itinerary to see all the highlights. A very beautiful little town and MUST SEE. Here Portugal was born!! ❤️

Bruno picked us up at our Porto hotel on time - and we were off! We picked up 2 others in Braga - 2 others from the US. The tour was awesome - while Bruno’s expertise is the national parks he was well versed on the history of Guimares as well as Braga - another historical city we asked if could be included. It was just a great way to see two important cities in the history of Portugal. Thank you Bruno!

Guimaraes should be on everyone's list of places to visit in Portugal. The birthplace of Portugal 's fortress and palace are Interesting views into Portugal's beginning. The stone outcropping s add drama to the terrain. The visit was a treat.
