We just had an amazing tour with David and Iván. They were really nice guys who obviously care about the city and it's art. They were also great with our kids. Poray also helped us out by providing a tandem bike so my 8-year-old daughter could ride with me. They also took us to the most delicious lunch. I would definitely recommend the mural tour and wish we had time to do the others.
A fun tour around Mexico City. A fun taste of culture, history, and art. One of my favorite ways to see the city.
We booked this tour primary because it goes into neighborhoods rather than up and down Reforma. It also had good reviews. We were greeted by David at the shop. He was attentive and had great energy. Our bikes were ready, equipped with baskets. The bikes are single-speed cruiser style, and they are heavy and geared too high for the stop-and-go nature of this tour. The gearing makes it difficult to navigate traffic… it just takes too long to get going. I personally did not feel unsafe in traffic but I’m sure many people would, and I would never take a child on this tour. I think a reasonable age requirement would be about 14. There were tandems in the shop; maybe that would be an option. The tour included some truly impressive street art we would NEVER have seen otherwise because we simply do not visit the neighborhoods on this tour. There are reasons for that. At one point we were learning about a mural, standing about 15 feet from our bikes. An older lady approached and told us our bikes should be locked up. We also figured out on our own (no help from David) we should clip our bags to the baskets and take them with us when we stepped away from the bikes. Takeaway- don’t depend on the guide or anyone else for security. You shouldn’t anyway, but especially on this tour. David was informative and invested in our experience. That was clear throughout the tour. We were a little confused by the art space we visited on the tour and it felt like David was trying hard to sell it. If my workshop looked like this workshop I would consider torching it and starting fresh. The people working were kind and patient, but the space is a little rough. The tour wrapped up at a local taco place and I would have loved to have tried their food but it just looked too risky for a tummy that was already fighting something. We were also out of time. David grabbed his lunch to go and we made it back to the shop in time for us to make our next obligation. All-in-all I would recommend this tour so long as you feel fully informed about what to expect. Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone to sink below the superficial tourist line. This tour, although definitely for tourists, felt like that.
This was a great way to see parts of the city we may not have seen otherwise. Ivan, our guide was knowledgeable and the whole ride felt so safe on bike paths protected by barriers or with the second guide in the back protecting us from traffic as we turned, etc. I highly recommend this tour!
This is a fabulous tour! My niece and I had a great time! It goes at a pace accessible to all and they did a great job keeping everyone safe. Ivan is an incredible guide who shared so much information about the city. It was fun to see different neighborhoods and so many murals. Highly recommend!
David accommodated our schedule and showed us a lot of interesting murals in the city.
Incredible! The city has a lot to offer! I was left wanting to explore the three sections of Chapultepec by bike.
the absolute best tour i have been on. david and ivan kept us informed and safe throughout this wonderful art experience.
My wife and I are huge fans of street art so we were thrilled to see this tour as an option. We had a great time and Iván was a wonderful guide. We biked through various neighborhoods that we likely wouldn’t have found ourselves in on our own. And wow, was the art incredible! It was truly amazing to see so many different types of street art on one tour. We also enjoyed the visit to the Antique Toy Museum which had an incredible collection of vintage toys, and, of course, even more awesome art! We had lunch towards the end of the tour at a lovely stand where we tried chorizo verde and tylacoyos. We felt very safe with Iván as our guide, who always made sure we were right behind him and that cars would stop for us when needed. It can get hot in these neighborhoods, so consider sunscreen if you are prone to burn. There are various stops throughout the tour, but prepare to keep up a decent pace when crossing busy intersections. You will be riding mostly on the street, sometimes in a bike lane and sometimes not, so consider this with respect to skill level and potential fear of riding with vehicle traffic. We would absolutely recommend this tour to our friends and family and would honestly take it again if we came back to CDMX. There are two routes to chose from-North and South. North is more historical and South shows you more true “graffiti”. We chose South and were not disappointed.
David and Timon (Alex) were excellent guides! We were worried about biking on the busy streets but they made it easy and manageable for all of us--including a 12-year-old and a 77-year-old. It was a great balance of bike riding, pausing to see the murals, and hearing about the history of Mexico City.
