DALA AFRICA is een inheems bedrijf dat de rijke toerisme- en vrijwilligerscultuur van Kenia voorgoed gebruikt. We investeren specifiek in het creëren van unieke ervaringen voor onze klanten die zich richten op onderbedekte markten. We gebruiken uitsluitend lokale bewoners om werk te bieden waar het ertoe doet. We kijken ernaar uit u aan boord te hebben. DALA werd oorspronkelijk opgericht door Dr. Erick Komolo, Keniaanse advocaat en sociaal ondernemer om jeugdwerkloosheid, hoge tienerzwangerschappen en schooluitval in zijn plattelandsdorp in het zuidwesten van Kenia aan te pakken. We cultiveren een deel van onze winst voor deze missie via MAKLWETA, een liefdadigheidsinstelling opgericht door Dr. Komolo.

Kibera is de op een na grootste informele nederzetting van Afrika na Soweto, Zuid-Afrika. Met naar schatting één miljoen inwoners afkomstig uit heel Oost-Afrika, druk op een stuk land van 2,5 vierkante kilometer, biedt Kibera u een unieke kans om het andere Kenia te ervaren waar minder over wordt gepraat maar dat veelbelovend is. Erick, onze oprichter, woonde zelf een tijdje in Kibera toen hij probeerde professionele voet aan de grond te krijgen en er nog steeds veel familieleden wonen. Verschillende prominente internationale figuren en beroemdheden hebben de afgelopen jaren Kibera bezocht, waaronder president Obama, Ban Ki Moon (voormalig secretaris-generaal van de VN), Gordon Brown (voormalig Britse premier) en Bono om dit unieke nederzetting-ecosysteem zelf te zien. Je krijgt ook de gelegenheid om verschillende VN- en NGO-projecten te bekijken die betrekking hebben op huisvesting (sloppenwijk-upgrading), onderwijs en gezondheid, onder andere momenteel aan de gang in de sloppenwijk gericht op armoedebestrijding. Ons pakket biedt u een speciale gelegenheid om de lokale economie te begrijpen en werkgelegenheid te creëren voor onze professionele jeugdgidsen uit de sloppenwijken.
Waarom DALA? Uw boeking helpt ons lokale jongeren in dienst te nemen. Kenia heeft meer dan 50% jeugdwerkloosheid. We zijn 100 procent inheems bedrijf. Wij geven u authentieke lokale touch. We proberen te innoveren rond onze producten. We weten dat jongens van safari-ervaringen houden, maar ze waarderen vriendschap ook. We investeren in teruggeven aan plattelandsgemeenschappen waar we zijn opgegroeid. Een deel van de opbrengst van uw boekingen helpt ons MAKLWETA te runnen, het goede doel dat we hebben opgericht ter ondersteuning van de educatie van meisjes op het platteland. A very impressive tour of Kibera. Bramwel was a very honest young man. His English is very good and his commitment to the district where he was born is commendable. It may chafe to book such a tour, but the story must be told through.

We had an very insight filled tour , our guide was Bramwell who was able to explain a lot of things to us as a local who was born in Kibera. He was well known amongst the community and made everything feel as though we weren't intruding. Recommended if you want to see some real life without the rose colored glasses.

Amazing and insightful tour! Guide was a local from the area. He was thorough and kind. A truly unique experience. The people of Kibera were very warm and welcoming. Everyone was saying "Hi" and waving. Got to tour the entire area and learn from the locals. This is a must do if you are in the area.

We had an amazing guide. He was very knowledgeable about the area and had personal connections to the people which allowed us to see into their own lives. Our guide explained each building and what it meant to them as well as cultural norms. Throughout the tour he explained the circumstances or the majority of people living there and reasons that they contributed to live there (things like lack of jobs in the area and little access to sanitary conditions). Definitely a unique experience I would encourage everyone to take part in. •Friendly and informative guide •Interactions with local people
