Een stadstour van een hele dag door Pune is een geweldige manier om de Koningin van de Deccan te ervaren. In deze rondleiding bezoeken we de beroemdste tempel van Pune - Dagdu Sheth Ganesh, een van 's werelds grootste eenmanscollectie in het Kelkar-museum, de zetel van de krachtige Peshwas van het grote Maratha-rijk in Shaniwarwada, een uniek biografisch museum over Sadhu Vaswani en de prachtig Aga Khan-paleis dat zijn plaats heeft in de vrijheidsstrijd van India.

De dag begint bij Dagdu Sheth, een tempel gewijd aan Lord Ganesh en misschien wel de beroemdste in Pune. Deze tempel werd gebouwd in 1892 door een zoete maker die zijn zoon verloor aan de pest. De tempel speelde een cruciale rol bij het inspireren van Lokmanya Tilak om het jaarlijkse Ganesh-festival te organiseren om indianen te verenigen om te vechten voor vrijheid van de Britten.
De geschiedenis komt tot leven tijdens deze Pune-stadstour in het Raja Dinkar Kelkar-museum, een van de grootste eenmanscollecties ter wereld. Dinkar Kelkar toerde langs enkele van de meest afgelegen delen van India en verzamelde artefacten waaronder geborduurd textiel, sculpturen, antieke schepen en zwaarden van de Maratha's. Gasten zullen gefascineerd zijn door Mastani Mahal, een kamer nagebouwd uit de ruïnes van het oorspronkelijke paleis dat een symbool was van de koninklijke romantiek tussen Baji Rao de legendarische premier van Maratha Empire en Mastani, zijn liefdesdame.
Onze volgende bestemming in de Pune ctiy-tour is Shaniwar Wada, de zetel van de macht van de Peshwas of premiers van het machtige Maratha-rijk dat een dominante macht was in India tussen de 17e en 19e eeuw. Dit paleis werd gebouwd in 1730 ter ere van Peshwa Bajirao Ballal Balaji Bhat voor diensten verleend aan het Maratha-rijk. Shaniwarwada wordt beschouwd als de meest spookachtige plek in Pune! Het Darshan-museum is een uniek biografisch museum gewijd aan het leven en de leer van Sadhu Vaswani, een spiritueel leider. Sadhu Vaswani beweerde de behoefte aan liefde en eerbied voor de verbetering van de mensheid. Het is een modern museum dat multimedia-technologie gebruikt om het verhaal van Sadhu Vaswani en zijn leer te vertellen. Upliftment van vrouwen en dierenrechten waren 2 oorzaken heel dicht bij zijn hart. Novermber 25, de geboortedatum van Sadhu Vaswani, wordt zelfs gevierd als de Internationale Meatless and Animal Rights Day.
Het Aga Khan-paleis, een nationaal monument van de vrijheidsbeweging van India, is onze laatste bestemming in de Pune-stadstour. Gebouwd in 1892 door Imam Sultan Muhammad Shah Aga Khan III, was het paleis getuige van enkele opmerkelijke gebeurtenissen die de vrijheidsbeweging van India tegen de Britten bepalen. Gandhiji, zijn vrouw Kasturba Gandhi en zijn secretaresse Mahadevbhai Desai werden hier tijdens de Quit India-beweging in 1942 gevangengezet. Tijdens de rondleiding zullen gasten zich realiseren waarom het Aga Khan-paleis een gedenkteken is voor Gandhiji en zijn eenvoudige leven.

Fabulous tour, great insights and information, well worth the money
This is the ideal tour to book if you are looking for a way to discover what is special about Pune. Dhruv was my guide and his grasp of the English language was excellent, which helped me learn even more than I may have otherwise. From the moment he arrived, I felt well taken care of and I learned so much about Pune that I would likely have never learned on my own. His professionalism was first class but he still felt like he was a very intelligent local friend showing me his city. Every stop on the tour and every experience along the way was seamlessly handled as well. This tour didn't just meet my expectations, it exceeded my expectations. Do yourself a favor and book this tour (and try to request Dhruv as well) if you would to learn about Pune's cultural significance in India in professional yet entertaining way.
Must do well rounded trip in Pune! With our guide Ajit, we went to multiple places with very thorough learning of Pune historical importance in Freedom struggle and in social education aspect in India. We also visited many temples, including Pataleshwar Cave Temple which is my favorite one by far. We ended the day with lunch and Aga Khan palace before heading home. Happy for spending whole day with this program and company!

I had a fantastic day out with Ajit of 5 Senses tours. We explored tye best heritage sites of Pune and it was a memorable experience. The shaniwarwada fort and Agha Khan Palace were tye highlights of the day. The service was impeccable with comfortable car, safe driver and a friendly and knowledgeable guide. My tour of Pune was excellent. My guide was knowledgeable, spoke good English, and answered my many questions about the history, culture, religion, and people of India. The locations of the tour were ideal and places that I could never have found or understood on my own. My driver and tour guide were polite and attentive and I felt safe navigating the markets and backstreets of Pune, places that I would not have ventured into by myself. The lunch was at a traditional family-style Indian restaurant frequented by many Indian families. The waiter continuously brought food and I experienced the great foods of India. I would highly recommend this tour.

It’s my first time ever in Pune and we are so glad we picked the right service. Eventhough we had to cut short due to some personal unexpected event, our tour guide tried to organized and took us to 5 different locations and still managed to have lunch so it felt worth the money we spent. Ajit was a wonderful tour guide. I enjoyed all of the stops we made and appreciated that some of them were lesser known so I truly got to see sights I wouldn’t have found on my own. Ajit knows so much about the history of Pune and stories of the gods. Lunch was also absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this tour and Ajit.
