De proefruimte bevindt zich op de bovenste verdieping van de d'Arenberg Cube en biedt een panoramisch uitzicht over McLaren Vale, de Willunga Hills en de Gulf St Vincent. Het erfgoed van Chalk Hill begon met de komst van John Harvey naar Adelaide in 1839, toen er ongeveer 6.000 mensen in Adelaide woonden. John was de tweede persoon die druivenplanten plantte ten noorden van Adelaide, voorafgaand aan de geboorte van de wijnbouwgebieden Barossa en Clare. Zes generaties en 185 jaar later zet de familie Harvey hun erfgoed van druiventeelt en wijnmaken voort in McLaren Vale met Chalk Hill. De wijnen van Samuel's Gorge worden met de hand gemaakt en weerspiegelen het landschap waarin we werken. We verwijzen naar de geschiedenis voor textuur, complexiteit en harmonie. We passen geduldige technieken toe, gebruiken inheemse gist en zorgen ervoor dat onze fermentaties lang en langzaam zijn. Onze wijnmakerij staat onder de dekking van een afdak en 's nachts een plafond van sterren. Bezoekers van Samuel's Gorge zijn welkom om ons proces te zien tijdens de oogst, in de late zomer.
Zes generaties koppige, competitieve wijnbouwers en één even geestdriftige wijnmaker – dat is de familie Oliver. De familie woont midden in McLaren Vale en floreert door perfecte percelen fruit te produceren op hun 100 hectare grote ‘Taranga’-landgoed. Hun collectie van kleine partijen, handgemaakte, Oliver’s Taranga-wijnen spreken van zowel de variëteit als de jaargang, en leggen een tijd en plaats vast, terwijl ze de voortdurende 185 jaar durende relatie van de familie met het land blijven documenteren.

Ophaallocaties en -tijden
We berekenen de ophaaltijd zodra we de locatie en openingstijd van de eerste wijnmakerij kennen, sommige zijn geopend om 10.00 uur en anderen om 11.00 uur. Alle passagiers moeten op tijd klaar zijn om de dag perfect te laten verlopen.

We have booked with George for the past three years for our McLaren Vale wine tour and will continue to book with him every time we come back. His warm and friendly service is appreciated, and the extra touches like taking photos and suggesting new places to visit is always appreciated. He is very professional and personable.

A brilliant day that we’ll remember for a long time - 4 guys and a wonderful day of wine tasting! George was so friendly and knowledgeable, so we could relax and he drove us to some beautiful places in McLaren Vale that we wouldn’t have known - the highlight being D’Arenberg and “the cube” there - a must see! I’ve told lots of friends and highly recommend George (he even played our favourite music on the way back to Adelaide!). Do yourself a favour and book this - you won’t be disappointed! Great wine tour visiting four very different wineries each offering very good wines to taste. Had a nice lunch on a wineyard with great views over the wines. The guide was superb, very knowledgeable and helpful even taking us to an extra 5th place for a glass of shiraz. We had a great time

George took my wife and I on a simply amazing day tasting wine through the McLaren Vale. While we were a bit time crunched, needing to get back to our cruise ship, we were still able to get four wineries, some breakfast, and great lunch in during the day. George couldn’t have been any friendlier and the best guide. We’ll definitely use him again if we make it back to Adelaide.
