De Marokkaanse keuken is rijk aan diverse en heerlijke traditionele gerechten die u in elk Marokkaans huis, restaurant en natuurlijk de straten van het Noord-Afrikaanse koninkrijk vindt. Het culinaire aanbod van het land varieert van gegrild vlees en heerlijke soepen tot lichte snacks en gebakken vis tot smakelijk gebak en ongelooflijke sappen. Doe mee en boek je gids om Marokkaanse gerechten te proeven in een open restaurant. Als je echter een authentieke en unieke ervaring wilt hebben, moet je ze zoeken in de traditionele straten of souks (markten) van Marrakech. Het proberen van de verschillende streetfoods van Marokko met je gids zal je de volledige Marokkaanse ervaring geven en zorgen voor opmerkelijke herinneringen tijdens je reis. U kunt genieten van de beste Marokkaanse street food in Marrakech's uitgestrekte openlucht restaurant van Jemaa El-Fna in de oude medina straten.

We stoppen in Riad zitoun el kdim om de Marokkaanse SEFANJ te proeven. Sfanj is Marokkaans gebak. Het wordt gemaakt met deeg, gevormd in ringen, en vervolgens gebakken in hete olie totdat het een gouden kleur aanneemt. Marokkanen raken gewend aan sfenj vanaf de vroege kindertijd, hetzij in de ochtend voor school begint of in de late namiddag na het einde van de lessen. Het heerlijke zoete eten wordt warm geserveerd met een snufje suiker, meestal met een kopje muntthee, en je vindt het in bijna alle bakkerijen in de Marokkaanse straten of traditionele markten
We zullen een markt van olijven bezoeken. We stoppen even en proeven alle soorten olijven en (harisa) harisa is een hete peper.
Nadat we de olijven hebben geproefd gaan we door naar Derb Dabachi en proeven Marokkaanse Mseman. Msemen zijn platte, vierkante Marokkaanse pannenkoeken die meestal worden geserveerd voor ontbijt of thee. Ze worden gemaakt door rghaif deeg plat te maken op een geolied oppervlak tot het papier dun is, het te besprenkelen met boter en griesmeel, en het vervolgens in derde (twee keer) te vouwen om een gelaagde pannenkoek te vormen.
Nadat we Mseman geproefd hebben lopen we naar Jemaa El fna en proberen Chebakia. Chebakia is een van de bekendste Marokkaanse gerechten en is zeker een koekje dat iedereen die het probeert aanbidt. Het traditionele zoete eten is te vinden in de huizen van de meeste Marokkanen, vooral tijdens de maand Ramadan, in restaurants ook, en natuurlijk in de bruisende medina straten van Marokko.
Zaalouk is een rokerige aubergine- en tomatensalade, gekruid met kruiden en knoflook. Het wordt vaak gepureerd tot een dipachtige consistentie en besprenkeld met olijfolie. Als bewijs van Marokko's overvloedige producten viert Zaalouk de nederige aubergine. Geserveerd als bijgerecht of voorgerecht, maken de rokerige en pittige smaken het een nietje in Marokkaanse mezze. Mechoui is een traditioneel Marokkaans geroosterd lamsgerecht. Het lam wordt gekruid met een mix van kruiden, dan langzaam geroosterd tot het zacht is en van het bot valt. Het vlees wordt vaak met de vingers gegeten, waardoor het een gemeenschappelijke eetervaring is. Mechoui is vaak gereserveerd voor speciale gelegenheden en grote bijeenkomsten. De bereidings- en serveermethode, waarbij het hele lam wordt geroosterd, toont de Marokkaanse traditie van gemeenschappelijk dineren en feestvieren.

We had a wonderful food tour with Mobarak! Our nine-year-old son who is an extremely picky eater absolutely loved the tour and even tried snails, which was his favorite part. We tried many street foods and local places which was just what we wanted. Highly recommend!

We had a great tour personalized to our likes and requests. The guide was very friendly and accommodating. He asked what type of foods we had already tried and what we wanted to try. He also made recommendations on what he thought we should eat. Enjoyed trying everything and would definitely recommend this experience. Great way to try a lot of local dishes from local merchants.

Definately one of the best nights we enjoyed. The directions to the meeting point were super and given it was our first night, we found Mbarek straight away. Being out of season there was only my Husband and myself on the Tour. Mbarek made us feel at ease immediately and then off we went. He took us around the whole Medina and areas that we probably would either not have found or perhaps not gone into not knowing the area. We sat and ate with locals at different venues and sampled traditional Moroccan cuisine with beautiful mint tea. MBarek explained a lot about the history of buildings, the culture and the different foods and spices. I will say, make sure you are hungry as everything was stunning but I felt I could not do the food justice as just too much, although my Husband gave it a very good go!! We really enjoyed everything we tried...even the fantastic snail stand in the Medina and the amazing 'half' sandwiches (which we had another three of during our stay). Unfortunately, I cannot load any photo's of the lovely dishes or Mbarek himself as my phone was stolen on the last day and I had not uploaded to the cloud, so pretty gutted about that. All of that aside, I would definately recommend this tour. For a first night, it also gives you all your bearings as the Medina can be a bit a maze for first timers, but after this night - we always knew where we were and how to get everywhere. Authentic Moroccan street food tour. Our guide spoke excellent English and was very informative on the foods plus any other questions we asked him about Marrakesh. We walked a good wide area, so got to see lots of the bustling city. Was nice to try the foods the locals eat. We was very full by the end of the tour!
