Marcahuasi is een stenen bos op slechts een paar uur rijden van Lima. Er wordt gezegd dat in de diepten van dit Peruaanse wonder de geheimen van de mensheid verborgen liggen. Gelegen aan de oostkant van Lima en op meer dan 12000 voet boven de zeespiegel, is het beroemd om de vele verhalen die erover zijn verteld en die de generaties zijn overgegaan. Hier in Marcahuasi ga je je ziel opladen, en dus laad je met positieve energie je hele lichaam op. Marcahuasi is niet alleen een bestemming, is helemaal daar naartoe, de weg, de geuren, de natuur, alles maakt de ervaring. Als je naar de Andes rijdt, voel je de schone lucht. Marcahuasi is vergelijkbaar met de onheuglijke beschaving van de Masma's die de moderne mensheid hebben geschapen, of met de oude Egyptenaren en hun verbazingwekkende ruïnes. Ga met ons mee en ontdek monumentale stenen vormen die je zullen wegblazen. Je zult je ogen in ongeloof wrijven als je eenmaal hebt gehoord over de mysterieuze aard van deze formaties van land.

Chosica
Het hotel ligt op 1 km van het centrum van Lima hacia Chosica sigue la Carretera. A medida que avanzamos, el paisaje urbano va dando paso a cerros áridos y formaciones rocosas típicas de la sierra baja limeña. En el trayecto se observan puentes, campamentos, zonas industriales y pequeños asentamientos que acompañan el curso del río. Al acercarnos a Chosica, el clima se vuelve más cálido y aparece el cielo despejado que caracteriza a esta ciudad, conocida por su ambiente tranquilo y soleado.
Santa Eulalia
El recorrido desde Chosica hacia Santa Eulalia continúa por el valle del Rímac, dejando atrás el tránsito para adentrarse en un entorno más tranquilo. El camino avanza entre cerros áridos, el cauce del río y pequeñas zonas agrícolas que empiezan a aparecer a los costados. A medida que nos acercamos, el clima se mantiene cálido y seco, típico de la zona, y se observan viviendas rurales, chacras y locales turísticos. Santa Eulalia recibe al visitante con un ambiente apacible, ideaal para disfrutar de la naturaleza y del sol que caracteriza al valle. Aca nos detendremos a tomar un desayuno ligero
La Iglesia Matriz del siglo XVI - Callahuanca
El viaje en auto desde Santa Eulalia hacia Callahuanca sigue una ruta panorámica que se adentra en el valle alto. El camino asciende suavemente entre cerros secos y terrazas de cultivo donde destacan los árboles de chirimoya, emblema de la zona. A lo largo del trayecto se observan pequeñas viviendas rurales, canales de riego y quebradas que acompañan la ruta. El clima es cálido y seco, con un cielo despejado que resalta el paisaje andino cercano. Al llegar a Callahuanca, el visitante es recibido por un ambiente tranquilo, vistas amplias del valle y un entorno agrícola que refleja la identidad tradicional de este distrito.
San Pedro de Casta
El camino que une Callahuanca con San Pedro de Casta es una ruta llena de encanto andino y paisajes imponentes. Desde Callahuanca, la carretera comienza a ascender entre terrazas agrícolas, arboledas y laderas rocosas que acompañan el recorrido. A mitad de la ruta se llega al famoso puente Autisha, un punto emblemático rodeado de profundos cañones y formaciones geológicas que ofrecen vistas espectaculares. Es un lugar ideal para tomar fotos y sentir la magnitud del paisaje.
Marcahuasi
Marcahuasi es uno de los destinos más sorprendentes de la sierra de Lima : una meseta mágica situada a más de 4,000 m s. n. m., famosa por sus gigantescas formaciones rocosas que parecen esculturas naturales de rostros, animales y figuras místicas. Caminar por sus senderos es adentrarse en un paisaje fuera de lo común, rodeado de silencio, aire puro y vistas panorámicas que se extienden hasta el horizonte.
Lima
Después de una caminata de dos horas por la meseta de Marcahuasi, iniciamos el viaje de retorno hacia Lima disfrutando de un trayecto panorámico que desciende desde los 4.000 m s. n. m. El camino serpentea entre montañas imponentes, quebradas profundas y pequeños poblados andinos que conservan su encanto rural. A medida que descendemos, el paisaje cambia lentamente : el aire se vuelve más cálido y aparecen zonas agrícolas, terrazas y valles estrechos que acompañan la ruta.

You cannot miss this
The best possible first day I could have at Lima. Carlos has the most amazing Lima experience I can think of. You start early in the morning and head to the isolated but stunning Marcahuasi. He offers great company, the cutest pet, cushi. apart from conversations, as he drives you to Marcahuasi and then takes you on a full circuit of the Marcahuasi area. The place is beautiful, the views are amazing, and even the food that you try for breakfast, like the avocado egg sandwich, is simple but so tasty. Carry some sunscreen, a hat, and a bottle of water and don't think. Just book this. You won't regret it. Thanks again, Carlos, for the best time ever!

Wonderful experience
What a wonderful experience! Carlos is amazing—such a friendly, funny, and positive person. The place exceeded all my expectations, and I already had very high ones, such an incredible place, I’m stil wow by the landscape beauty. Don’t hesitate to book this tour; the service is excellent, and the entire experience is simply fantastic. Magic place, very nice company
Was not an easy hike, due to altitude, but is a magic place, a must to see. The trip was very well organized and I highly recommend the company and Carlos, the guide. And I had also a 'bonus guide', little dog Kusi :-) It was a great day !

Where to start?
Where to start? My partner and I booked a trip with Carlos to visit Marcahusi. What was planned to be a "slower" day turned out to be one of the highlights of our 2 weeks in Peru that included Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mtn, the Amazon, and all the other "greatest hits". Carlos is an exceptional guide. Both of us are extensive travelers/hikers and this was a one-of-a-kind excursion, with a beautiful drive, excellent hike, unique view into Peruvian life, and as a bonus, great company. It's clear that Carlos has put a great deal of effort into curating a memorable experience for his guests. So, if you enjoy nature, adventure, and culture, do yourself a favor and book this trip. Carlos - The Ultimate Guide
Wow - what a day we had! We cannot recommend Carlos highly enough as the ultimate guide. This was an unforgettable experience into the mountains, and a first taste of The Andes, with a dramatic drive up to Marcahuasi at 4,000m....through hills, gorges, across the fast flowing river below and a final stop at the last town before the summit - San Pedro de Casta. A chance to meet some locals and get a feel for the way that they live. So meaningful to see happy and contented locals living out their totally natural and happy existence and way of life. Carlos is well known on this drive and clearly liked by everyone. He takes time to talk to everyone he passes with a smile and a wave. He is also happy to give locals a lift from San Pedro de Casta to the top of the mountain to tend their cattle (for them only a short trip of 15 mins rather than a 2 hour walk) if he has room in his great Toyota Land Cruiser, that can happily handle any on road or off road challenge. At the top we experienced total peace and tranquility - truly the quietest place we have been on this earth. Amazing. We then spent a glorious and relaxed 2 hours on a gentle walk taking in the breathtaking views, lagoon, ancient rock formations and ruins of a village dwelling from over 1,000 years ago. Departing Lima at 5am to avoid the heaviest traffic, the 3.5hr journey to the summit went in no time. Incredible scenery and a great education and commentary provided by Carlos the whole way. A most memorable experience and how lucky we were to have found Carlos - amazing to have full access to this magical place. Thank you Carlos - never to be forgotten.

Must Try When in Peru
It was a great experience the scenery was surreal with fog covered stone mountain and lagoons enhancing the beauty. The Guide Carlos was really helpful and kind and during my tour it was only in the whole area making it a even more beautiful experience as we could experience the peace present there in silence
