Maak een 2-3 uur durende kajak- en kanomoerastocht door het historische Manchac-moeras. Een lokale natuuronderzoeker uit Louisiana leidt je door het historische Manchac-moeras en legt historische informatie en het inheemse ecosysteem uit. Houd er rekening mee dat de ophaaltijden 09.00 uur en 12.00 uur zijn, een uur voordat de tour begint. Lees het ticket na het boeken.

Je kunt worden opgehaald bij de historische St. Roch-markt, net buiten de Franse wijk, of rijd zelf in een korte rit van 30 minuten naar de tourlocatie. De groep komt bijeen op het startpunt van de reis en er zal een inleidende lezing worden gegeven over kajakken op het moeras. Je stapt dan in je kajak en volgt je gids door het schilderachtige Manchac Swamp, een langzaam bewegende bayou die ooit de thuisbasis was van het verwoeste spookstadje Ruddock, LA en diende als doorgang voor historische ontdekkingsreizigers uit New Orleans; Iberville, Biennville en meer. Onderweg worden stops gemaakt en uw gids leert u over de geschiedenis van het moeras en de natuur. De duur van de tour bedraagt 2-3 uur, afhankelijk van de kajakervaring van de groep. Zodra je terugkeert naar de lanceerplaats, sluit je je aan bij de rest van de groep om terug naar de stad te worden vervoerd. Als u zelf wegrijdt, kunt u vertrekken zodra u terugkeert naar de lanceerplaats.

Kayaking on Manchac is magical. The calm of the water, the quiet of the surroundings, watching wildlife in its element was a treasure. We had a smaller alligator within about 2-3 feet from our canoes, completely unfazed by our presence. Our guide, AJ, was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive throughout our tour. It was nice to step away from the bustle of the city and surround ourselves in the wetlands.
The guide was very knowledgeable, we learned so much. The day was a very fun adventure. I would recommend.
Absolutely beautiful day on the bayou, with AJ who was an awesome experienced and local guide. He spotted many gators and birds and plants for us, and shared so much information on the local history. Highly recommend!
Quiet walk with layas in the swamp. The truth being so “intimate”, meaning small boats, we thought it would be more entertaining. We only got to see two lizards and nothing else. They didn't give us much information during the experience either.

Odd leaving a review because we got thunder/lightening stormed out and it was cancelled. I can not say enough about the communication and thought for our wellbeing that went into the decision to cancel. I highly respect the people running this tour. Our money was returned within an hour. We will try again next time in NOLA.
