In deze dagtour vanuit Chennai bezoeken we de tweelingwonderen van Pallava-architectuur, Mahabalipuram en Kanchipuram. Deze tour wordt georganiseerd door een Five Senses Tours, een bedrijf dat is goedgekeurd door het ministerie van toerisme en is ook lid van de prestigieuze Indiase vereniging van touroperators. We behandelen de prachtige tempels van Ekambareswar & Kailashnath in Kanchipuram. Daarna bezoeken we de oude zeehaven Mahabalipuram en bezoeken we de legendarische rotsachtige structuren waar Arjuna boete doet, Vijf Rathas en de iconische Shore tempel die vanaf de 8e eeuw letterlijk als baken diende voor zeevarenden. Het bedrijf bevordert het lokale levensonderhoud door lokale gidsen op te leiden en in dienst te nemen en lokale bedrijven te betuttelen. Dit is een volledig begeleide tour met pick-up en drop, privé auto, fulltime gids, lunch en alle entree kosten ook.

We bezoeken Ekambareswarar van de Pallava-dynastie om deze oude architectonische wonderen te waarderen. Deze werden gebouwd in 600 AD en zijn prachtige exemplaren van de Pallava-stijl van architectuur.
We bezoeken de prachtige tempel van de Kailasanathar-tempel uit de Pallava-tijd. Kanchipuram was de hoofdstad van het middeleeuwse Zuid-Indiase koninkrijk Pallavas. De Pallavas waren instrumenteel in de overgang van rotsachtige architectuur naar stenen tempels. We zullen deze architectonische wonderen, gebouwd in 600 AD, waarderen.
Mahabalipuram is een oude stad en stond bekend als een handelspost tijdens de Romeinse tijd. Het steeg naar bekendheid als een drukke zeehaven tijdens het bewind van de Pallava-dynastie met het hoofdkantoor in Kanchipuram in de 7e eeuw na Christus. Schepen die vanuit Zuid-India naar Zuidoost-Azië varen, vertrokken vroeger vanuit de haven van Mahabalipuram. Panch Rathas, of de 5 strijdwagens is onze eerste bestemming. Dit zijn gesteente monoliet tempels structuren gewijd aan Draupadi en de 5 Pandava's uit de epische Mahabharata.
We bezoeken ook Arjuna's Penance, een bas-reliëf van 100 voet x 45 voet waar een volledig meesterwerk uit het Mahabharata-epos is gesneden.
De volgende stop is bij Krishna's Butterball, een merkwaardig schouwspel van een 5 meter diameter bolvormig rotsblok dat gevaarlijk op een helling ligt en Newton's wetten van de zwaartekracht tart!
De legendarische Marco Polo verwees naar Mahabalipuram als de stad met 7 pagodes. De Shore-tempel is de enige van die prachtige 7 tempels die de tand des tijds hebben overleefd. De Magnificent Shore-tempel wenkt ons. Deze 8e-eeuwse structurele tempel is gemaakt van graniet en diende als een baken voor zeevarenden uit die tijd.

It was an efficient and cost-effective course that allowed him to go around both Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram in a day. Of course, there was an additional fee because I was participating alone, but both the guide and the driver were very reliable. The chicken rice (biryani-style) for lunch was delicious, and the guide showed me how to eat it with my right finger.
Tour Guide Jainath and driver Mahendran arrived early to Hotel with a comfortable AC transport Car. Tour Guide extremely Knowledgeable of Historical Sites and was able to properly answer all questions I had. Driver was safe. I would Highly recommended tour if short on time and want a grand experience of Ancient Temples. Great Value and a wonderful lunch was included….. Two Thumbs Up
An absolutely wonderful experience with Hareesh guiding me all day through many temples and historical sites. My first day ever in India became a day to remember with the insights, friendliness, and warmth of a guide who truly loves what he is doing. Super exciting sights, excellent lunch, and knowledge of Indian history and religion to the fullest.

We had an excellent day exploring these two amazing places with Jainath and his local guides. Both were knowledgeable and passionate about the history. There was time to examine each place and appreciate the history and culture in them. Highly recommended the day. The driver was excellent as well, getting us between sites in the busy traffic. The trip could be improved by using a larger more comfortable car for such a long day.
Five Senses is a great tour company putting focus on the local community. Our guide Jainath was very knowledgeable and friendly and we had a very good time! Not only he showed us the wonders of Kanchipuram and neighborhood town Mahabalipuram, but also got us in touch with the local people who take pride in their work and culture. We also learnt a lot about eating manners to have during a wedding (we are attending one in 2 days). Overall we got a great impression lf history, architecture and culture in only one day!! Highly recommended.
We had a great time with our guide Jainath. He was very knowledgeable and gave us a good feeling for the South Indian culture and his eye for architecture was impeccable. He even invited us for a quick coffee and breakfast!
