Een volwassen en hoog aangeschreven lokale gids zal vriendelijk, onderhoudend commentaar geven op honderden onderwerpen over vogels en dieren in het wild, bomen, geologie, geschiedenis en folklore tijdens je 5 uur durende tour over de schilderachtige wegen en zijwegen van het prachtige Magnetic Island. Als je de Nelly Bay Ferry Terminal verlaat, bezoek je alle belangrijke bezienswaardigheden, waaronder een of twee geheime plekken waarvan de lokale bevolking niet eens weet. We eindigen met een uur vrije tijd in Horseshoe Bay om te lunchen.

Na het instappen bij de Nelly Bay-terminal, ontmoet je je vriendelijke lokale gids die je de hele dag begeleidt. Onze gidsen zijn allemaal locals, met een diepgaande kennis van het leven op het eiland. Na een korte introductie ga je door Nelly Bay naar de westkant van het eiland. Onderweg krijg je wat achtergrondinformatie over het eiland en een inleiding tot de geografie en fauna.
Gesloten op dinsdag en tussen de dag van Pasen tot Pasen. Het centrum is gevestigd in de monumentale Picnic Bay School en de historische Butler Hut. Het heeft een museum en verkoopt lokaal gemaakte ambachtelijke en historische publicaties. Het museum toont de geschiedenis van het eiland door permanente tentoonstellingen en wisselende jaarlijkse tentoonstellingen.

Geen bezoek aan de Maggie zou compleet zijn zonder een tussenstop in Geoffrey Bay om te zien of je enkele van onze uiterst schattige Allied Rock Wallabies kunt vinden. Deze wallaby's zijn alleen te vinden in Noord-Queensland tussen Townsville en de Burdekin-rivier. Geoffrey Bay is ook een gelegenheid om uit de bus te stappen en persoonlijk en dichtbij onze ongelooflijke rotsformaties te komen.
Terwijl de bus de lange steile heuvel richting Horseshoe Bay beklimt, krijgt u een adembenemend uitzicht over het eiland. Je gaat dan aan de andere kant naar het oude boerengebied voordat we stoppen voor een uur vrije tijd in Horseshoe Bay, waar een verscheidenheid aan voedsel beschikbaar is. In de winter als de vlinders er zijn, gaan we zeker naar het Vlinderbos voor een korte boswandeling. Het is een ervaring die je niet mag missen en een geweldige balsem voor de ziel. Horseshoe Bay biedt ook het hele jaar door zwemmen met een veilige zwemruimte tijdens de zomermaanden. Een uitstekende plek om af te koelen als u uw zwemmers meeneemt.
Na de lunch keert u terug naar de veerboot, zodat u deze ongelooflijke uitzichten nog een keer kunt opdoen. Deze keer gaan we echter door de achterkant van Arcadia, langs de mooie Hayles Avenue met een korte stop bij Aquasearch Aquarium ($ 3 toegangsprijs, alleen contant) waar we Nemo en Dory proberen te vinden en een praatje maken over onze Giant Clams, voordat we teruggaan naar de veerbootterminal op tijd om de 3pm depature naar Townsville te ontmoeten.

An excellent tour to gain an overall view of Magnetic Is. Our guide was very knowledgeable and we saw many things we would not have known about if doing a DIY explore. Travel from Townsville very easy with the SeaLink ferry , and the tour better value than taking our own car or hiring on Magnetic.

A great intro to Magnetic Island covering the geography, the history, the flora and the fauna. And a very knowledgeable guide who clearly loves his island. Definitely recommend it!

What a fantastic day! Can highly recommended this day tour. Worth every cent. We had been to the island before many years ago but just explored it ourselves. This time, on the tour, we learnt SO MUCH we would not have known otherwise. Our guide Neil knew all the cool places to go to see the local wildlife and we saw a koala, turtle, osprey, heaps of rock wallabies and did a few cool walks to hidden gems like a butterfly forest. Even morning tea is provided. Thanks for a magical Maggie experience!

Excellent tour-driver was so knowledgeable,very humorous Best tour I've had The island was magical Rock wallabies gorgeous and friendly Even got to see the Koala hospital and see all the great work that they do Would go back in a heartbeat
Great tour. There was a small group of us and it was very informal and casual which makes it feel more like you have a private tour.
We took two different ferry rides (one takes 15-20 minutes and the other about 30) to get there and then later back based on timing. It was easy to get a ticket in person on both ends even with a holiday week. We were greeted by the owner of the company who has an interesting and worldly background which brings a lot to his tours. He lives on Magnetic Island and provided a wealth of history and information throughout the day. He seems to know every person in town and their stories as well and took our group to get up close and personal to key places for great photos. We were brought into a cute area with several lunch options which provided something for everyone and an opportunity to walk around afterwards. He got us back exactly when he said he would so we could catch our ferry. We took over 500 photos - so lots to see even on a small island!
