In tegenstelling tot de traditionele markten, is de Maeklong Railway Market direct op de treinsporen opgezet. Verkopers tonen hun goederen zoals verse zeevruchten, fruit, groenten en andere lokale producten op de grond waar de trein doorheen rijdt. Als de trein nadert, trekken verkopers snel hun luifels in en verplaatsen ze hun goederen om plaats te maken voor de trein. Het is een spannend en ongewoon gezicht om een drukke markt binnen enkele seconden te zien transformeren in een duidelijk pad voor een passerende trein. Aanbevelen : De vroege ochtend trip 5.50 uur en 6.30 uur zal minder toeristisch zijn en meer tijd op beide markten

Ontmoet de groep en rijd 1,5 uur van Bangkok naar Maeklong Railway Market, een traditionele Thaise markt waar verse groenten, voedsel en fruit worden verkocht in de provincie Samut Songkhram, ten zuidwesten van Bangkok. Wat de markt bijzonder maakt, is dat deze een deel van een spoorlijn beslaat. Een paar keer per dag rijdt er een trein rechtstreeks door de markt. Een paar minuten voordat de trein arriveert, laten verkopers hun paraplu's zakken en verplaatsen ze een deel van hun producten van de treinrails.
Verken de drijvende markt en geniet van de bezienswaardigheden en geluiden van dit levendige centrum van activiteit. Nice experience, our guide Winny Pooh made sure that we could film back across the market in front of the train. She could tell a lot and well about the old market and the floating market of the past. A big disadvantage is that you will be kicked out on your way back in the middle of the busiest part of Bangkok. So no taxi to get there either. But couldn't help our guide. Hope the company picks this up and just drops it off at the starting point. There's also a taxi rank there.

It was a tour that was half a day long but had a lot of fun. It was a particularly valuable experience to actually be caught up in a water boat. I think the guide was kind and became good to know Thailand.

We had a fantastic half day tour with the lovely Billie! We were collected at 8am from our hotel in a very comfortable bus, we then made the journey towards the train station, we stopped for refreshments and a bathroom break before continuing on to board the train! The train was a fabulous and authentic feeling experience, it went through the market and it was lovely to wave at everybody inside! We then got off the train and explored the market! After this we got back into the van and travelled to the floating market, this was such a fun and different experience! We were on a long boat with 4 other people were we were paddled through the stalls and got to admire all of the lovely produce. We then had lunch and another little explore before returning to the van and getting dropped back to Bangkok central. As a couple on our honeymoon we would definitely recommend this trip. Billie was gorgeous and had lots of knowledge about Thailand and all that we explored!

Nice experience even if both markets we visited have now become too touristy; in particular, the railway market is especially crowded but still unmissable. The floating market, on the other hand, is undoubtedly quieter but perhaps more touristy and less authentic than it once was; however, we still enjoyed it. I recommend the experience with the Big Country tour, especially if you are a family with small children. The tour is in fact well organized logistically and the guide provides all the details; furthermore, plenty of time is left to be able to walk around freely among the stalls and small shops.
Mattinata ai mercati Tripadvisor review: Maeklong Railway Market and Floating Market Bella esperienza anche se entrambi i mercati che abbiamo visitato sono diventati ormai troppo turistici, in particolare il railway market è particolarmente affollato ma comunque imperdibile. Il mercato galleggiante invece è senza dubbio più tranquillo ma forse è più turistico e meno autentico rispetto ad un tempo, tuttavia a noi è piaciuto comunque. Consiglio l’experince con il tour di Big Country, soprattutto se siete in famiglia con bambini piccoli. Il tour infatti è ben organizzato a livello logistico e la guida fornisce tutti i dettagli, inoltre viene lasciato parecchio tempo per poter girare liberamente tra le bancarelle e i negozietti.
