De tour begint voor de deur van het Fun and Tickets kantoor aan Calle Mayor, 43 met een rondleiding op weg naar het Koninklijk Paleis. De tour omvat het bezoek aan het Koninklijk Paleis van Madrid met officiële gidsen en Skip the line.

De naam van het plein is in de loop der tijd veranderd. Het staat bekend als "Plaza del Arrabal", "Plaza de la Constitución", "Plaza Real", "Plaza de la República" en nu "Plaza Mayor". Deze namen weerspiegelen gebeurtenissen, geschiedenis en heerschappij in de Spaanse geschiedenis. "Plaza del Arrabal" was de oorspronkelijke naam van het huidige "Plaza Mayor". Het "Plaza del Arrabal" was ooit de site van de meest populaire Marketplace tot het einde van de 15e eeuw. Na de grondwet van 1812 werden alle grote pleinen in Spanje omgedoopt tot "Plaza de la Constitución". Het droeg ook deze naam 1820 tot 1823, 1833 tot 1835, 1840 tot 1843 en 1876 tot 1922. Toen de Borbón koning in 1814 werd hersteld, werd het bekend als het "Plaza Real". In 1873 veranderde de naam in "Plaza de la República". Aan het einde van de Spaanse Burgeroorlog kreeg het plein zijn huidige naam van "Plaza Mayor".
Meer dan 100 jaar zijn verstreken sinds de Mercado de San Miguel zijn deuren opende als groothandelsmarkt voor levensmiddelen. Vandaag de dag valt dit historische gebouw op als een van de belangrijkste gastronomische markten ter wereld. Het stelt bezoekers in staat om de essentie en de belangrijkste smaken van elke hoek van Spanje te ervaren. Van de fijnste Iberische ham en de meest verse vis en schaaldieren die dagelijks uit Galicië worden aangevoerd, tot mediterrane rijstgerechten en de meest verfijnde kazen uit Castilië, Asturië en Baskenland - in de Mercado de San Miguel vindt u alle hoogtepunten van de Spaanse keuken. Verspreid over meer dan 20 stands is de gemeenschappelijke noemer hier een toewijding aan tapas en pubgerechten van hoge kwaliteit.
Deze kleine straat is een van de twee meest charmante pleinen in Madrid : Conde de Miranda en Villa. En het kan bogen op het huisvesten van een ruimte beschermd door de historische en artistieke omgeving eromheen : op de hoek van de Plaza de la Villa is de Torre de los Lujanes (behorend tot de 15e eeuw). In datzelfde deel van de straat bevinden zich ook de Koninklijke Maritense Economische Vereniging van Vrienden van het Land, de oude gemeentelijke krantenbibliotheek en de kerk van Corpus Christi, waar het klooster van Las Carboneras is gevestigd, aangezien de congregatie een beeld van Onbevlekte Ontvangenis bewaart dat in een houtskooloven is gevonden en waaraan verschillende wonderen worden toegeschreven milagros.
Het was één van de belangrijkste middeleeuwse centra van Madrid, aangezien er drie straten vertrekken, overeenkomend met de oorspronkelijke indeling van de stad: Codo, Cordón en Madrid. Aan de rand van de stad bevinden zich de hoofdgevels van drie gebouwen van hoge historisch-artistieke waarde, gebouwd in verschillende eeuwen. De oudste is het Casa y Torre de los Lujanes (15e eeuw), in de gotisch-Mudejar stijl, gelegen aan de oostkant van het Plaza. Dit is nu het kantoor van de Academie voor Morele en Politieke Wetenschappen.
Het Koninklijk Paleis van Madrid is de officiële residentie van de koning van Spanje; De huidige koningen wonen er echter niet in, maar in het Zarzuela-paleis, dus het wordt gebruikt voor staatsceremonies en plechtige daden. We arrived to get our tickets from the address supplied to us and the ticket office had moved. There was no notice on the door of the change of address. Consequently we missed the tour. Very disappointing. They had my phone number yet never rung to ask if we needed assistance finding them. Will never use this provider again.
First the meeting point's address was wrong and the whole group was not informed that the Fun&Tickets company has changed the place..thanks to the hospitality of a random guy from the place nearby we were told the new address When arrived, none of the stuff even apologised... The short walk where we were supposed to learn about Madrid was just a walk to the castle without any promised interesting stories as it was said in the tour description The castle walk was unsatisfactory as well- random information was provided in an english with such strong spanish accent that it was difficult to follow Not recommeded
At first we thought we were only visiting the royal palace, but in reality, before arriving there, we had the pleasure of seeing and learning about other parts of the city that were also linked to royal history. Federico was a professional and friendly guide who explained everything to us in great detail.

At first I was disappointed we were walking “again on another tour”. I thought we were on a tour bus as my hubby had booked it but with Beatrice, soon I forgot I was walking and exploring in the August heat. I was transported into another time of Madrid and was in my element of history. She was courteous, professional and clearly spoke English. She didn’t rush us and took care to show us many key points of interest during our tour (including brief quizzes) while visiting the Royal Spanish palace. I would recommend her as a guide to anyone.
