Onze begeleide fietstocht van 3 uur, 's ochtends of' s middags, neemt je mee naar alle iconische bezienswaardigheden van Madrid en je kunt kiezen voor de reguliere of een privétour. Vertrekkend vanuit onze kantoren op slechts 3 minuten rijden van het nieuwste en meest indrukwekkende stedelijke herontwikkelingsplan van Madrid, dat, in een volledig verkeersvrij voetgangersgebied met speciale fietspaden, de Plaza de Espana verbindt met het Senaatshuis, het Koninklijk Paleis, Plaza del Oriente, Royal Opera House en de Almudena-kathedraal, we gaan verder over fietspaden naar de Plaza Mayor, de Puerta del Sol, het Prado-museum en het Retiro-park en vele andere historische bezienswaardigheden. Fietsend door het historische stadscentrum kunt u enkele buiten de gebaande paden bewonderen en geweldige stukken straatkunst bewonderen. We zullen de heerlijke sfeer van de stad waarderen, zoals echte madrileños, en u kunt genieten van uw ontspannen fietstocht in totale ontspanning en veiligheid. Gezinnen met jongere kinderen kunnen overwegen een privétour of onze parken- en riviertour te boeken, omdat er veel minder verkeer is.

Het Koninklijk Paleis staat op de plaats van het voormalige Alcázar van Madrid, een middeleeuws fort omgevormd tot een weelderig paleis door Juan II, Carlos V en Felipe II, die het in 1561 tot de officiële residentie van de Spaanse monarchie maakten. Het Alcázar werd vernietigd in een brand op kerstavond 1734. Felipe V besloot toen om een nieuw Koninklijk Paleis op te richten op deze site, met de beste architect in Europa destijds, Filippo Juvarra. Toen Juvarra in 1736 stierf, maakte zijn leerling Giambattista Sacchetti verschillende veranderingen in zijn grootse project. De smalle en kronkelende straatjes van dit onregelmatig aangelegde gebied, meestal daterend uit de Middeleeuwen, leiden meestal naar een plein. De meesten van hen lagen buiten het middeleeuwse ommuurde dorp en verschaften accommodatie aan een groot aantal handelaren die hun goederen op de markt verkochten. Deze commerciële traditie echoot nog steeds in verschillende straatnamen en vierkante namen, zoals Plaza de la Cebada (gersteplein), waar vroeger de boerenmarkt werd gehouden, Plaza de los Carros (verkeersplein), Plaza de la Paja (strobreed plein) , of zelfs El Rastro (vanwege zijn naam aan het bloedpad van het oude slachthuis), de bekendste vlooienmarkt van de stad. - Officiële Website voor Toerisme, Madrid
In de zeventiende eeuw hadden de Gouden Eeuw van de Spaanse literatuur, Cervantes, Lope de Vega, Quevedo, Tirso de Molina en Góngora, naast andere auteurs, hier hun huis, vandaar de naam. Paseo del Arte (Art Walk in het Engels) wordt ook wel de Gouden Driehoek van de Kunst genoemd. Langs een traject van 2 kilometer zijn drie van 's werelds mooiste kunstcollecties te vinden. Dit omvat het Prado-museum, de nationale collectie Thyssen-Bornemisza en het Reina Sofía-museum. Paseo del Arte loopt langs de brede, met bomen omzoomde boulevard van de Paseo del Prado en enkele straten die er uitkomen. Samen met de Paseo de Recoletos en de Paseo de la Castellana vormt de Paseo del Prado een lange rij die van noord naar zuid door de stad stroomt. Met een oppervlakte van meer dan 125 hectare en meer dan 15.000 bomen, is El Retiro Park een groene oase in het hart van de stad. Je vindt er allerlei interessante monumenten en tuinen, waaronder de Jardines de Cecilio Rodríguez (op Andalusië geïnspireerde klassieke tuinen), de rozentuin Rosaleda en de Parterre Francés, waar een Mexicaanse naaldboom staat die bijna 400 jaar oud is en vermoedelijk de oudste boom van Madrid. Naast zijn rol als een van de groene longen van de stad, is het ook een populaire plek onder Madrilenen die er graag wandelen, sporten, een tentoonstelling bezoeken of de kinderen meenemen naar een poppenkast. Het park herbergt een groot kunstmatig meer en het Velázquez-paleis en het Glaspaleis, die beide momenteel worden gebruikt als tentoonstellingszalen door het Reina Sofía-museum. In de buurt van de rozentuin zul je het standbeeld van de gevallen engel tegenkomen, het enige beeldhouwwerk ter wereld gewijd aan de duivel dat merkwaardig genoeg 666 meter boven de zeespiegel ligt.
Deze wijk dankt zijn naam aan Manuela Malasaña, een van de heldinnen en slachtoffers van de historische gebeurtenissen die plaatsvonden in Madrid op 2 mei 1808. Plaza del Dos de Mayo, in het hart van de wijk, herdenkt de opstand tegen de bezetting van Napoleon geleid door kapiteins Luis Daoíz en Pedro Velarde, officieren op het hoofdkwartier van het artillerie-regiment Monteleón. Fantastic e-bike tour by David (Alejandro). He is a wonderful guide, and makes the stops interesting with his stories and info. There's a lot of stops/starts trying to navigate around the crowds and on/off the bikes at the major intersections. There are a couple sections of the tour where you can fly along without disruption, like through the central park by the Prado, but the tour route doesn't lend itself to much of this. There are plenty of stops, we never felt winded or tired, and the e-bikes make it easy to ride - anyone can do it. If you're pedaling hard - you've missed the ON/OFF button on the bike :) This is a great way to see the central sights in Madrid!
Thank you, Chris, for your detailed review of Bravo Bike's Madrid highlight cycle tour. On our itinerary, you will see the most important sites and different districts and parks, with many stops that make time fly. Our top Trek e-bikes make it much easier to ride in a busy city. We also recommend our Parks and river tour, where people can cycle longer stretches without traffic, enjoying nature and visiting places you probably would never reach on foot. The E-bike assistance may switch off at certain stops. The E-bikes are heavy, and without switching on the on-bottom, the 3-H tour might become a bit too strenuous. We had a great few hours riding and learning about the culture and history of Madrid. Alessandro is a great guide and had many stories to tell that make the tour interesting and fun. The meeting point location is easy to find, about a 20 minute walk from where we were staying. The tour gave a great feel for the city

Our guide, Remi, was excellent. Although not a native of Madrid, he knew the city, history, and bike routes very well. In our three hour tour, we saw a great number of sites. It was a fairly hot day, but Remi kept us in the shade most of the time. We were in the Centro but we were mostly on bike friendly streets and paths, very little biking on streets with cars. A highlight was the Retire Park. Biking is the best way to see this large and beautiful park. The e-bikes were very good, easy to use and had sufficient power to get around. Highly recommend this company and Remi in particular.
This was a fabulous bike tour of Madrid! Please do this if you want to see all the main sights and get lots of interesting information. Even on a hot day the biking was easy and stops were always in a shady spot. Our guide was Gomi and I can honestly say he is one of the best guides we have ever had! Thank you for a brilliant 3 hours. My husband was very sad when the tour ended!!
Ismael is a knowledgeable and personable guide. He guided us through a myriad of alleys, parkways and streets with confidence, always checking to keep the group together. The tour operator, Bravo Bikes, provided well conditioned bikes and gave us the option of e- bike or normal. A really fun tour!

I was the only rider for the day but Alvaro still took me out for the full 3 hour day. I’m so glad he did. He’s very knowledgeable about the city and its history. We stopped frequently as he explained what I was seeing. It seemed we rode everywhere in the city and though we rode along with traffic sometimes I never felt uncomfortable. I loved the tour and would highly recommend a different way to see the city.

A bike tour should not be scheduled on Labor Day in Madrid. Way too busy and was not impressed with our guide.
Hello Gordy, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you felt uneasy cycling in Madrid during the May Day public holiday. International Workers' Day is a major event across Europe, and while it brings a busy atmosphere to the city, we cannot close our booking system for every public holiday or event. Navigating a large city like Madrid does require some proficiency on an electric bicycle, especially on busy days like May 1st. Since you were the only two participants, the guide offered your spouse a toilet break only 20 minutes after leaving our shop, which has a clean washroom. Shortly after the toilet/coffee break, you chose to shorten the group itinerary to a third of its usual length, citing your wife's preference for shopping. As a result, you unfortunately missed many significant sights, such as Retiro Park and other historic districts. We appreciate your opinion and will take it into consideration for future tours. Just a heads-up: May 2nd is also a local holiday. Very soon, we will celebrate the fiestas of Patron Saint San Isidro. Indeed, a busy time in Madrid!
