Tijdens deze zelfgeleide GPS-audiotour beslist u zelf terwijl ik u voorbij de belangrijkste toeristische attracties van Dundee breng. Tijdens de tour ontmoet je een heroïsche duif, de grootvader van James Bond en 's werelds slechtste dichter. Je leert waarom Winston Churchill zwoer hier nooit meer terug te keren en hoe je kunt overleven in het noordpoolgebied. De tour is perfect voor bezoekers die Dundee voor het eerst bezoeken en voor degenen die meer willen weten over hun stad, bijvoorbeeld door uit te zoeken hoe Dundee aan de grootste geslepen smaragd kwam die er bestaat. Deze audiotour neemt je mee op een wandeling van 3 km langs de vele bezienswaardigheden van Dundee, evenals de verborgen hoekjes. Het duurt iets meer dan een uur zonder te stoppen, maar je kunt de tour pauzeren wanneer je maar wilt. De audio wordt automatisch afgespeeld op precies de juiste tijd en plaats met behulp van de GPS van je smartphone en de VoiceMap mobiele app, die ook offline werkt.

Desperate Dan is de ster van de Dandy-strip en een van de beroemdste beelden van Dundee. Dundee is beroemd als het hoofdkantoor van D.C. Thomson, een van de grootste uitgevers in Schotland. Ze zijn elk jaar verantwoordelijk voor 200 miljoen tijdschriften, kranten en tijdschriften.
Het McManus Museum heeft displays over de geschiedenis van Dundee en het is ook een kunstgalerie. Het is gratis om te bezoeken.
Er zijn vier gravures in de fonteinen. Elk vertegenwoordigt een element - aarde, vuur, lucht, water - en heeft een citaat van een lokale dichter of auteur om het te illustreren. Het houtsnijwerk heeft een extract van 'Lunan Bay' van Mary Brooksbank.
Toen James Caird stierf, verliet hij zijn jongere zuster al zijn aanzienlijke fortuin en ze zette veel van zijn filantropische projecten voort, waaronder de financiering van de inrichting van Caird Hall en de bouw van de kleinere hal ernaast.
Slessor Gardens zijn genoemd naar Mary Slessor. In 1997 werd ze de eerste vrouw op een Schots biljet - de Clydesdale £ 10 biljet die tot voor kort in omloop was. Mary Slessor werd de eerste vrouwelijke magistraat in het Britse rijk.
Deze beelden zijn van Lemmings, de sterren van de Lemmings 1991 game van DMA Design. Lemmings was een groot succes en verkocht meer dan 15 miljoen exemplaren.

The tour was decent overall, with a few highlights but also some areas that could be improved. The itinerary covered the main spots and was fairly well organized, though it felt a bit rushed at times. The guide was polite and knowledgeable, but communication could have been clearer.
Really happy with the service at this salon. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and took their time to understand what I wanted. The atmosphere was relaxing and the salon itself was clean and stylish. My hair turned out great and the overall experience was very enjoyable.
It was really engaging and easy to navigate.. interesting stories behind the buildings and locations in Dundee. The navigation system was on point and interesting points to take pictures. It was overall interesting
A well-written, informative and enjoyable tour that served as an excellent overview of Dundee. The quality of narration was superb and the historical analysis was well-reasoned. Well worth the price.
This was an informative and interesting start to my visit and a great way to find my way around the city with history thrown in! It set me up for the rest of my stay.
The app is easy to purchase and download.Simple to use as it’s Gps linked. Very informative commentary and I found out loads about Dundee that I would have easily missed , such as Churchill’s time spent in Dundee.
An excellent walk, easy to follow and comprehensive. Recommended for your visit to this interesting city ………………………..
Good but could be better with a few tweaks. 1. Regarding the Discovery Walk plaques on the pavement, the map's red guide line is on the wrong side of central plant run. You should actually cross at the second crossing. (It is ony 10 metres futher along.) 2. Towards the end of the tour after leaving the university mention is made of the Tay Rail Bridge. The bridge is no longer visible as tall recently built flats obscure the view. 3. Also at the end you are told to go throught the lemmings pillars and head towards the river. I took that literally and walked down the many steep winding steps when at the bottom I realised my mistake and had to climb back up, annoyed of course. The following narration would explain more accurately - "Walk through the pillars and stop in the park. You are now at the end of the walking part of the tour but before I go I want to mention a story centered on Hendersons the Jewellers that I previously hinted at." 4. The 18th century building at narrow lane adjacent to the Mecca bingo hall is in fact St David's Halls and would be better described as - "It is Dundee's oldest secular building, with some parts dating back to 1480". It is presently covered in scaffolding as it is undergoing restoration by volunteers. If workmen are around when you visit you are likely to be offered a tour but in any case will be open to the public when restoration is finished. 5. If I remember correctly there may be other very small issues. The developer nees to walk their tour again to satisfy themselves of the above. The should use a low end smartphone in case the GPS is not as good as high end ones. I used the latest edition iPhone SE.
Had some difficulty starting after locating the first stop but after a call to the helpline were able to continue the tour. The app was very informative, great to learn the history of the city and of the people who contributed to the city.
It was very interesting, and filled in a few hours for me, let me see and hear about parts of the history of the town that I might never have found out about.
