Uw chauffeur in Xi'an haalt u rond 6:50 uur op bij uw hotellobby en brengt u naar het treinstation Xi'an North om de hogesnelheidstrein G3154 (08:39-10:18) of soortgelijke trein van Xi'an naar Luoyang (ongeveer 1,5 uur) te nemen.
Bij aankomst in Luoyang, zal onze lokale gids en chauffeur je ontmoeten op het treinstation en je meenemen naar de Longmen-grotten, een schatkamer van oude steenhouwen kunst met meer dan 100.000 stenen beelden hier, variërend van 2 centimeter tot 17.14 -meter hoog, en strekt zich uit over ongeveer 1.094 meter langs beide oevers van de rivier de Yi. Ongeveer 12 kilometer ver weg van de stad Luoyang, is het een van de drie meest waardevolle boeddhistische grot- en rotstekeningen in China (2 uur).
We beginnen richting de beroemde Shaolin-tempel (ongeveer 2,5 uur rijden) die bekend staat om Shaolin Kung Fu. Je krijgt de kans om getuige te zijn van de echte Kung Fu uitgevoerd door Shaolin-monniken. De Shaolin-tempel is niet alleen beroemd als een van de belangrijkste boeddhistische tempels van China, maar ook als het centrum van de Chinese Kung Fu. De tempel werd voor het eerst gebouwd in 495 en was voornamelijk ontworpen om Batuo, een beroemde Indiase monnik, te huisvesten. Nu staat de Shaolin-tempel bekend als "de nummer één tempel onder de hemel" die in 2010 ook op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat als onderdeel van de "Historische monumenten van Dengfeng". De tempel is de bakermat van het Chinese zenboeddhisme en de Shaolin-vechtsporten.
Na je bezoek aan de Shaolin Tempel brengt je gids je naar Luoyang Longmen Railway Station voor trein G1933 (19:08-20:38) of een soortgelijke trein terug naar Xi'an (ongeveer 1,5 uur).
De chauffeur van Xi'an haalt je op bij het treinstation Xi'an North en brengt je terug naar je hotel in Xi'an.

The agency did a wonderful job. The guide was amazing with very good English and even Spanish. The trip is a bit long but it is ok and very worth it. They treated us very good!

Guide was thorough in explaining the history of Longmen Grottoes and Shaolin Temple. Driver was adept at making adjustments based on road closures. The actual destinations were a bit too commercialised (Shaolin) and crowded (Longmen) for the experience to actually be enjoyable. Would also recommend for the tour to be extended to two days and include a trip up Songshan - seems a bit of a shame to travel all the way to Luoyang and not see that amazing view

Everything was arranged promptly. Agency is very proactive in confirming details prior to the trip. All arrangements were made without much fuss. Train tickets were sent to hotel concierge in advance and explanations and advice were given beforehand on what to expect and bring. Tour guide, Fei, was very attentive and provided us with umbrella and handheld electronic fan as the weather was sweltering hot! Her explanation was detailed too. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful time on this excursion from Xi'an. From the start of the day to the finish. Our driver was early to pick us up from the hotel, but was patient and waited while we finished our breakfast. We got to the train station in planet of time and were able to easily navigate our way to the train as a result of the excellent communication and instructions we recieved from China Xi'an Tours local agent Lenna. Thanks to the help of the train conductor, we were able to learn exactly when to get off the train (which was a very pleasant trip travelling at 303km/h!) As we were told, Joe, our local guide, was waiting for us with our name as we exited the train station. Overall, Joe was a spectacular tour guide. He paid attention to what we liked and didn't waste our time on stuff we didn't care about. The drive to the Grottoes was easy. Joe gave us tons of interesting facts. He is very service oriented and took care to ensure our expectations were clear all day. The lunch was very good and quick which is great for us because we didn't want to spend a lot of time eating. After lunch the long drive to Shaolin temple was good and nice time for a nap. Again, Joe was very informative and we enjoyed learning about the awesome history and the origin of Kung Fu. The show at the temple was really entertaining. Joe got us back to the train station with plenty of time. We thoroughly enjoyed the day. Upon our arrival back to Xi'an we found our driver right where Lenna said he would be (complete with pictures!) Again, excellent communication! We think a reminder for folks to have their passports along would be a good idea. We had ours along by sheer luck. The train station attendants on our return trip wanted to see them.

The place is utterly breathtaking! The enormity and the beauty of it is amazing. My husband and I were dumbfounded, looking at all the carvings, small and huge alike. We moved from one grotto to another with renewed sense of admiration and awe. Our guide Lisa was a gem, plenty of background information and history. She was very knowledgeable, witty and funny which made our visit all the more enjoyable. I highly recommend this trip and this company!
