We beginnen onze reis op een van de belangrijkste pleinen van Lucca, omzoomd door majestueuze XVI-eeuwse paleizen. Terwijl we deze levendige hub oversteken, gaan we richting onze eerste stop om te duiken in de lokale culinaire hoogstandjes.
Terwijl we de prachtige kerk en het levendige plein eromheen bewonderen, proeven we de eerste traditionele specialiteit van Lucca, de Buccellato, een zoet brood op smaak gebracht met fruit en anijs.
Vervolgens banen we ons een weg door Piazza Anfiteatro, de meest iconische en pittoreske plek in Lucca. We wandelen over dit uniek gevormde plein, ooit de plek van een Romeins amfitheater, voordat we naar de volgende halte op onze gastronomische reis gaan.
Bij deze karakteristieke stop in het hart van de ommuurde stad, zullen we genieten van een bord Tordelli, een traditionele Lucca pasta gevuld met vlees en kruiden, geserveerd in een rijke, hartige saus. Een echte smaak van de culinaire traditie van de regio.
Terwijl we onze wandeling door de charmante straatjes van Lucca voortzetten, komen we langs de iconische Torre Guinigi, een middeleeuwse toren met een unieke tuin op de top, die een kijkje biedt in de fascinerende geschiedenis van de stad.
Op dit mooie plein stoppen we om te genieten van een bord verse lokale vleeswaren, perfect gecombineerd met een glas rode wijn, terwijl we genieten van de levendige sfeer en schoonheid van Lucca.
Op de Via Buia proeven we Cecina, een geliefd Toscaans streetfood gemaakt van kikkererwtenmeel en geserveerd warm en hartig. Dit iconische gerecht is een echte lokale favoriet.
We sluiten onze food tour af met een zoete lekkernij langs de Via San Paolino, waar we zullen genieten van wat lokale chocolade en een traditioneel dessert, waardoor u de perfecte afsluiting heeft van deze heerlijke verkenning van het culinaire aanbod van Lucca.

We had a wonderful and tasty time! Denia was extremely helpful and a great guide on the tour. She brought us to very special locations each with their own story. It was very evident she took the time to curate the spots we visited.

I often take a food tour in cities but this one was very disappointing . The foods tasted were normal everyday food . We learnt very little . 3 of the tastings were done standing in the street in very high temperatures . There were 4 of us and we were joined by 2 others . The dynamic was slow and rather boring . The guide was very inexperienced and didn’t add much to the evening . Not worth the money .

Regarding the format, some stops are indeed conducted standing outdoors, particularly in historic or pedestrian areas where partner venues do not have dedicated seating or where food is traditionally served street-side. We understand that high temperatures can make this less comfortable, and we regret that this affected your enjoyment. Quick overview of some of Lucca’s “famous” spots! Our guide Denia was a fun local who gave us insight into many of the restaurants in town. Now I want to go back and enjoy a full meal, especially at Trattoria da Giulia!
We had a fabulous time doing the Lucca food tour!!! Our guide, Sacha, was everything!!! She was the perfect balance of chill, cool vibes but let’s get to the good places!!! She spoiled us with incredible locations and authentic Lucca favorites while providing information along the way. It was a lovely time and a highlight of our visit to charming Lucca. She was also so kind as to provide foodie spots in neighboring cities we were going to.
We very much enjoyed our food tour with Denia. We’d literally just arrived by train, dumped our bags and met up with her. There are so many food options so it was lovely to hear from a local what they like to eat and where. I wondered if we’d get enough to eat but there was ample! All the food was delicious and traditional and we learnt a little about this special town along the way.
We did the Food Tour with Sacha who turned out to be a very funny, thoughtful Guide and a fountain of Lucca Trivia. The Food was great, we had a lovely time with a delightful group. Can highly recommend and we will certainly be back :)
Lucca is a fabulous place that will capture anyone’s heart. Nicolleta was our guide on this tasting experience. We learned more about some of the sites of the city through her passionate eyes. This tour throws you comfortably into the culture of this warm and enchanting city. We attended with our two sons who are 21 and 18. It was a great way to celebrate this special place.
