De Loch Lomond-tour vanuit Edinburgh heeft een beetje van alles wat Schotland te bieden heeft, van een ontspannen cruise op Bonnie Loch Lomond tot de bergen van de 'Highlands in miniatuur' en majestueuze Stirling Castle. Als we Edinburgh verlaten, zijn we al snel bij de Kelpies, de grootste paardensculpturen ter wereld. Onze stop in Balloch is een geweldige kans om te genieten van het uitzicht over Loch Lomond tot Ben Lomond in de verte. U kunt meer te weten komen over de wetteloze Vikingen en ruziënde clans in het gebied tijdens een optionele rondvaart over het meer. Dan gaat het verder, verder het Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park in, een gebied van uitzonderlijke natuurlijke schoonheid waar Rob Roy MacGregor werd gevierd als een held en een outlaw. Er is tijd voor een foto of twee en een lunchstop in dit gebied. We eindigen onze dag in Stirling Castle, waar u een stap terug kunt doen in de tijd naar de weelderige dagen van de Schotse koningen en koninginnen uit de Renaissance.

De Kelpies zijn 's werelds grootste paardensculpturen ter wereld. Met een hoogte van 30 meter zijn ze een geweldige fotomoment voor zowel bezoekers als de lokale bevolking.
We bezoeken het dorp Balloch aan de mooie oevers van Loch Lomond. Passagiers kunnen kaartjes kopen om deel te nemen aan een cruise van 1 uur op het meer, met een schilderachtig landschap en interessante geschiedenis in het gebied. Als u liever op het droge blijft, dan is Balloch Country Park een perfecte plek om te verkennen.
We volgen de dramatische Duke's Pass en diep de Trossachs in, de 'Hooglanden in het klein'. De meningen verschillen over de betekenis achter de Trossachs, maar onze favoriet is van het Gaelic wat 'het borstelige land' betekent. We stoppen voor een foto of twee in dit gebied, evenals een langere stop om te genieten van een lunch. Dit landschap inspireerde Sir Walter Scotts gedicht The Lady of the Lake en zijn roman Rob Roy en we denken dat jij ook geïnspireerd zult zijn, of je nu je camera of je notitieboekje oppakt. Kijk uit voor een favoriet fotografisch onderwerp, onze wollige, langhoornige hooglandkoeien. We noemen ze harige koetjes!
Passagiers hebben de mogelijkheid om Stirling Castle te bezoeken (tickets niet inbegrepen, zie tour-uitsluitingen), de grote koninklijke residentie van Stuart Kings en van Mary, Queen of Scots, die hier in 1543 tot monarch werd uitgeroepen, slechts negen maanden oud. Het is een imposant gezicht, gelegen op een steile rots, en je hebt 90 minuten om dit historische juweeltje te verkennen.

Excellent trip really enjoyed it and our host Dougie was brilliant . Just the right amount of time spent at each visitor site. Dougie was enthusiastic about his country and folklore and enjoyed sharing his knowledge about the area we visited.

We had an amazing tour. Brian, our tour guide/driver did an exemplary job and while coming back he was too kind to drop us closer to our hotel as well. He had a good knowledge about all the places that we visited. Great job, done.

Stuart was our guide for the day. Very knowledgeable and really proud of his country. We got a good taste of the lower highlands. Wish we had more than an hour at Stirling Castle.

We had a great time with our guide, Dougie! Our group of 7 were the only ones on the tour. Dougie heard we had already been in Scotland for 2 weeks, so he made a point of trying to tell us interesting stories and info we hadn't heard previously. First we visited the Kelpies, and then we took a boat tour on Loch Lomond. We stopped in Aberfoyle for lunch, then got a chance to feed Highland cows. Next we visited Stirling Castle, and Dougie took photos of our group. We drove on scenic roads through the Trossachs National Park, and made an extra stop in South Queensbury to get shots of the Forth bridges. Because we were the only ones on the tour, Dougie was able to drop us off at our hotel rather than back at the start, so he saved us time and paying for a taxi. We appreciated that a lot!
Kyle our driver tour guide was outstanding. He shared not only history but also included less known stories. He was humorous, thoughtful and clearly enjoyed working with tourists
