Om deze regio van Lissabon te verkennen, is een auto onmisbaar. De Serra da Arrabida belooft landschappen die nog zeer wild en ongerept zijn. De plek Cabo Espichel is nog steeds weinig bekend bij reizigers, maar toch zo bijzonder. Natuurliefhebbers en liefhebbers van open ruimte komen hier aan hun trekken. We nemen de tijd om het kleine dorpje Sesimbra te verkennen. Dit vissersdorpje ligt aan een prachtig strand en heeft nog steeds zijn authentieke karakter. De lunch is gepland in Sesimbra, waar u kunt genieten van lokale specialiteiten. Vervolgens nemen we een van de mooiste wegen van Portugal. De route doorkruist de Serra da Arrabida, een juweel van de natuur in zijn puurste vorm. Op de terugweg stoppen we bij Christus Koning. Dit immense standbeeld domineert de stad Lissabon en biedt u een uitzonderlijk uitzicht over de hoofdstad.

De reistijd van Lissabon naar Kaap Espichel is ongeveer 1,5 uur, afhankelijk van het verkeer.
Sobere en wilde kaap gelegen aan de rand van spectaculaire kliffen. In dit ruige landschap zijn fascinerende bezienswaardigheden, waaronder een kerk, een machtige vuurtoren en twee sets voetafdrukken van dinosaurussen. Cabo Espichel is een fantastische plek om de natuur in zijn ruwe staat te waarderen.
Sesimbra, een van de mooiste badplaatsen in Portugal, is van oudsher een belangrijke vissersplaats.
Het kasteel van Sesimbra, geclassificeerd als nationaal monument sinds 16 juni 1910, is het laatste van de Portugese kustkastelen dat tot op de dag van vandaag in goede staat verkeert.
We nemen de beroemde weg N379, mythisch en pittoresk, deze doorkruist een deel van de Serra d'Arrabida. Dit natuurpark van 10.800 hectare wordt aan de ene kant begrensd door de bergen en aan de andere kant door de uitzonderlijk mooie kustlijn.
Op de terugweg kunnen we nog even stoppen om het indrukwekkende standbeeld van Cristo Rei te bewonderen. Dit heiligdom kijkt uit over de stad Lissabon en u kunt genieten van een adembenemend uitzicht over de hoofdstad. U kunt met de lift naar de top van het beeld (ter plaatse te betalen).
De terugreis duurt ongeveer 1 uur.De tijd kan variëren afhankelijk van het verkeer.

We loved the concept of a tour in a very comfortable van from the times we were kids (and it was a long time ago!). Moreover this almost a private tour, and the way you see the beauties of Lisbon region becomes different, I would say more intimate. The owner Laura passes you on the passion she has for her adopted motherland. If you wish to discover the region in an informal and friendly atmosphere, this is the tour you should choose.

After a week of sightseeing and walking and battling the crowds this trip was a respite for the senses. I felt like a VIP riding solo in my VW chariot with a charming and knowledgeable host Cristiano. I didn’t really know what to expect but was blown away by the beauty of the coastline. Cabo Espichel is a remote church and lighthouse with spectacular views and is well worth the long and winding drive. The Sesimbra castle is very walkable with a beautiful blue tiled church-I had not seen a church decor like this before. Cristiano arranged for a lunch seaside in Sesimbra which was quiet and the food was delicious. Expect to pay tourist prices. Then the drive to Setúbal along the coast through the Serra Arrábida is just breathtaking. It was slightly cloudy and even so it was gorgeous. The fortress in Setúbal was very interesting - very different from the castles I had visited. We were also able to make an unscheduled stop on the Almada side of the bridge to take in the view of Lisbon. Overall this was the perfect tour for my last day in Portugal. I’m so glad an opted for something away from Lisbon and places North. This is a must see part of this beautiful country!!

Excellent time spent in the company of Laura and Cristiano. Super interesting explanations, very good atmosphere. The view was magnificent. We only want to go back! Do not change anything from the reservation until the excursion. Not to be missed if you are passing through Lisbon!
