Ontdek de historische stad Sintra, een UNESCO-werelderfgoedlocatie, tijdens een dagtrip vanuit Lissabon. Sintra is een stad die ongeveer 35 km van Lissabon ligt. Het is een magische plek met kastelen en paleizen en een prachtig historisch stadscentrum. Het heeft waanzinnige uitzichten en ook speciale stranden. UNESCO heeft het culturele landschap van Sintra in 1995 uitgeroepen tot werelderfgoed.
Quinta da Regaleira is een plek om te voelen. Het is niet genoeg om je te vertellen over de geschiedenis, het landschap en de mysteries. Het is noodzakelijk om het te leren kennen, om de scenografie van de tuinen en gebouwen te aanschouwen, om het paleis te bewonderen, een waar filosoofhuis geïnspireerd door alchemie, om door het exotische park te wandelen en om de spiritualiteit ervan te voelen. Het Regaleira-paleis is het hoofdgebouw en de meest voorkomende naam van Quinta da Regaleira. Het staat ook bekend als het Monteiro dos Milhões-paleis, een naam die geassocieerd wordt met de bijnaam van de voormalige eigenaar, António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro.
Een bevoorrecht uitkijkpunt met uitzicht over de Atlantische kustlijn, de uiterwaarden en de heuvels van Sintra, het duizend jaar oude Moorse kasteel, gesticht onder islamitische heerschappij, nam een strategische positie in voor de verdediging van zowel het omliggende gebied als de maritieme toegangswegen naar de stad Lissabon. De geschiedenis van deze magische plek gaat terug tot de 12e eeuw, een punt in de tijd dat er een kapel stond die gewijd was aan Onze Lieve Vrouw van Pena. Op dezelfde locatie gaf koning Manuel I opdracht tot de bouw van een klooster, het Koninklijk Klooster van Onze Lieve Vrouw van Pena, dat later werd overgedragen aan de Hieronymietenorde.

Neel was exceptional. I need to repeat that exceptional. He went so completely beyond and is the best guide we have ever had, from helping with moody teens, taking amazing photos and videos to making sure we seen and experienced everything Sintra had to offer. He is so knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. Not even only with my family, you see how he interacts with the people around him. From saying hi to babies, talking to the staff at the locations and store owners. He is embedded, invested and proud of his country. It shows in his attitude, his passion to pass on this history and a how hard he works. We will definitely book him again and recommend him to our friends and colleagues that are coming in the fall to Portugal. You will not be disappointed.

This was a great tour. Our guide Hossain was an excellent host. He was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information along the tour. Doing the tour through Viator had its perks as we were able to advance to the front of the line at Pena Palace, saving a lot of time. Hossain was also very flexible, and allowed us to change the itinerary since it was a private tour. Great tour, great day. Thanks Hossain.
We were scheduled to be picked up at our hotel, the driver never showed up. When we contacted the agency they said they had been to the hotel, insisted that we were being untruthful. Said they had call/texted 5 times, which was incorrect. Thank goodness we were able to contact another tour guide and get on their schedule, otherwise we would have had a wasted day!
We had an amazing time on this tour with our tour guide, Neel, who told us so many information about the history of the area. The moorish castle was very cool and Pena palace was pretty while the Regilera tunnels were so interesting. I very much recommend this tour and Neel is an amazing tour guide!

We had a phenomenal day with Mr. fantastic! This was one of the only tours that we could find that would do the Moorish Castle, Pena Palace, AND Quinta Regaleira. We really appreciated the knowledgeable guide and very smooth logistics of the entire day. We got to see all the sights we wanted in Sintra. The great views and ruins of the Moorish Castle were spectacular. Then, we got to go to the Pena Palace, which our guide was able to deftly navigate the lines, and held our place while we ate at the cafe. We also had a good lunch with a helpful recommendation from Mr. Fantastic. Overall an amazing experience which we would not have been able to do in one day otherwise. Highly recommend!!

The day is full so you need a guide who understand the crowds and what to do when and where. Between Pena Palace, Santa, Moorish Castle, all was completed and avoided big crowds. NAYEM was Awesome!!!
