Verken Lima's levendige street food scene tijdens deze begeleide wandeltocht, duik in het rijke culinaire erfgoed van de stad buiten het typische toeristische pad. Proef een verscheidenheid aan iconische Peruaanse snacks, waaronder anticucho's, picarones en ceviche, terwijl je door levendige wijken zoals Chinatown en Barrios Altos dwaalt. Deze kleine groepservaring, geleid door een gepassioneerde lokale Gids, biedt een persoonlijke verbinding met Lima's streetfoodcultuur en de verhalen achter elk gerecht. We ontmoeten elkaar in het centrum van de stad in het Gran Hotel Bolívar, Jirón de la Unión 958, en van daaruit vertrekken we naar de beroemde Centrale Markt. Het is 15 minuten lopen.
Voordat we de beroemde Centrale Markt betreden, stoppen we om te genieten van de beroemde "4 kleuren" schotel. Dit is een combinatie van Peruaanse gerechten : ceviche, Peruaanse rode spaghetti, chanfainita (een stoofpot), en andere. Uiteraard gaat het gepaard met een verfrissend glas chicha morada (een drankje gemaakt van paarse maïs).
We bezoeken de Centrale Markt en samen zullen we een aantal kraampjes bezoeken waar we wat exotische Peruaanse vruchten en een verfrissend sap gemaakt van een van hen zullen proeven.
We betreden dan de kleine wereld van Chinatown. Hier bezoeken we een beroemde kraam, bekend bij siu mai liefhebbers; een Chinees voorgerecht.
We verkennen het gebied buiten de Centrale Markt en proeven beroemde gerechten : anticuchos (gegrilde vleesspiesen), pata con huavo (varkenspoten met ei), choclo con queso (maïs met kaas), mazamorra morada (paarse maïspap), en anderen.
Onze tour zal culmineren rond de Plaza de Armas, waar we onze laatste snack van de dag zullen proberen: de beroemde Peruaanse churro (een knapperig gebakken deeggebak, bedekt met suiker en vaak geserveerd met chocolade of karamelsaus).

The agency was very easy to communicate with. My guide Juan Diego was energetic and was very knowledgeable and eager to teach about Peruvian culture and cuisine. He knew the best spots for street food around Lima and he was very supportive and eager to show and get me to try more and more of their local food during the tour.
