Door ons te onderscheiden van alle andere bedrijven, garanderen we dat we 150% geven om onze klanten gelukkiger te maken. We vertrekken om 9.30 uur, 1 uur eerder dan de meeste andere bedrijven. De Tarpon Feeding stop is veruit een van de hoogtepunten van de tour. We zeggen graag, als je nog niet helemaal wakker bent, is dit de stop die gegarandeerd je hart aan het pompen krijgt! Tarpon zijn enorme vissen die tot 8 voet lang kunnen worden en wel 300 pond wegen. Het voeren van deze springende reuzen is een onvergetelijke ervaring die je zeker niet wilt missen als je Caye Caulker bezoekt.
Het Belize Barrier Reef is ongeveer 287 mijl lang. Tijdens een volledige dagtour vanuit Caye Caulker verken je slechts een klein deel van de pracht en praal. Onze volgende stop ligt op slechts 8 minuten afstand van Caye Caulker, waar we 2 tot 3 hoofdgebieden van het rif doorzoeken op zeekoeien. Eenmaal gevonden snorkelen we met ze – natuurlijk – terwijl we een respectvolle afstand bewaren en elke aanraking of intimidatie van deze majestueuze wezens vermijden. Als we eerst geen geluk hebben, gaan we verder naar andere stops en proberen we het opnieuw op de terugweg naar Caye Caulker.
Onze volgende stop is de Coral Garden. Hier ga je snorkelen en verkennen in je eigen tempo—of je nu liever alleen gaat of met een reismaatje of partner, ongeacht je ervaringsniveau. Hoewel de Coral Garden buiten het beschermde gebied ligt, behandelen we alle snorkelstops met dezelfde mate van zorg en respect. Dat betekent niet op de koralen staan, ze aanraken of iets van het rif verzamelen. De Coral Garden is de thuisbasis van een grote verscheidenheid aan prachtige flora en fauna, waaronder zeeschildpadden, pijlstaartroggen, verpleegsterhaaien, adelaarsroggen, murenen en veel verschillende soorten vissen, evenals een prachtig scala aan koraalformaties in alle vormen, maten en kleuren.
Onze kleine versie van de Titanic – de Sunken Barge – is ongeveer 40 voet lang en 20 voet breed. Het is al vele jaren een unieke attractie, dankzij de grote verscheidenheid aan koralen en vissen die het hun thuis hebben gemaakt. Hoewel het een klein gebied beslaat, is het op zijn eigen manier ongelooflijk interessant. Als een grote, holle structuur weet je nooit wat er in of onder schuilt, zoals massieve murenen, verpleegsterhaaien, schildpadden en leeuwvissen. Na meer dan 30 jaar onderwater is het schip nu prachtig ingelegd met een levendige mix van harde en zachte koralen, wat bijdraagt aan zijn charme en ecologische belang.
Vervolgens, als we het Hol Chan Marine Reserve binnengaan, komen we aan bij Shark and Ray Alley – een van de leukste en spannendste snorkelstops. Verpleegsterhaaien, die tot de meest volgzame haaien in ons rif behoren, zijn de enige haaiensoorten die veel in dit gebied voorkomen. Ze delen de wateren met zuidelijke pijlstaartroggen en een verscheidenheid aan vissen, allemaal profiterend van de beperkte chumming toegestaan in dit aangewezen deel van het reservaat. Zodra een schip binnenkomt, beginnen de haaien achter te lopen, in afwachting van voedsel. En zodra we onze boot aan een van de boeienlijnen vastbinden, verzamelen ze zich bij de achtersteven aan stuurboordzijde, wervelend in afwachting van sardines. Deze haaien kunnen gemakkelijk worden bekeken vanaf de boot, omdat ze heel dicht bij de boot komen - maar we nodigen u natuurlijk uit om in te stappen en de ervaring echt onvergetelijk te maken.
Het Hol Chan Kanaal is de eerste zone van het reservaat die beschermd wordt en dateert uit 1987. Dit kanaal zit boordevol onderwaterleven en biedt een ongelooflijke snorkelervaring. Aangezien we nu in een beschermd gebied zijn, gelden er strenge regels voor iedereen die hier binnenkomt en snorkelt. Alle gasten moeten hun gids te allen tijde volgen, omdat het kanaal af en toe sterke stromingen en meerdere groepen snorkelaars in het gebied kan hebben. Tijdens de snorkel geeft je gids ook educatieve inzichten over het zeeleven. Hij of zij zal naar beneden duiken en bij het opduiken verschillende vis- en koraalsoorten identificeren en benoemen, zodat iedereen de kans krijgt om meer te leren over het onderwaterecosysteem. Deze stop duurt meestal ongeveer 30 tot 40 minuten, afhankelijk van de omstandigheden. Veiligheid is altijd onze topprioriteit, maar we willen natuurlijk dat iedereen ook plezier heeft.

Absolutely incredible experience from start to finish, the A team really went of their way to make sure we all had the best time and saw amazing sealife, great lunch and rum punch and fruit platter was a bonus!

We had a wonderful day. The sun was shining and the reef looked beautiful. We were very lucky to swim with manatee!! We also swam with turtles and sharks and a whole array of fish! Wow! I picked this tour based on the other reviews and it definitely lived up to the hype. Alwin and EJ went above and beyond in so many ways to make this a great experience. I was nervous to stay in Caye Caulker in July with all the reports of Sargassum. This did not impact the snorkeling as we were inside of the reef and the boat could easily anchor at spots free of seaweed. Visibility was great, corals were healthy, and the fish were everywhere. We saw eagle rays, manatees, lobster, nurse sharks, puffer fish, tarpon, barracuda,,,, an amazing day. Also, the reef cuts the swell, on the day we went out was a small craft advisory (3-6 ft waves reported online). However, there were no waves noticeable where we were snorkeling and the boat ride was smooth all day. Wear a rash guard, the sun is intense.

We had an incredible tour with black hawk tours. The guides and captain Al and EJ were both knowledgeable and environmentally aware. My girlfriend and I had an incredible experience today on our Hol Chan Marine Reserve tour with Blackhawk Tours. Kelvin was very friendly and helpful explaining everything to us the day before the tour so we knew exactly how to prepare prior to the tour. Our tour was led by Al and Daniel who both offered an amazing and fun experience with their professionalism, overall knowledge and hospitality. We were given a perfect amount of time at each stop of the tour and were fully able to enjoy and take advantage of each experience offered. With opportunities to see many different species of fish, Sting Rays, Sea Turtles, Sharks and even a Manatee, this tour offered incredible and unforgettable experiences. Lunch, drinks and fruit were served onboard and everyone was given time to be able to take a break and eat during the tour. Overall I would recommend this tour 100 % !
