We maken een rondleiding van twee uur door de straten en steegjes van het historische centrum, langs klassieke gebouwen, pleinen van buitengewone schoonheid, barokkerken en monumenten uit de Romeinse tijd...! Kunst, geschiedenis, tradities... maar ook lekker eten! Het is ons een genoegen u onze heerlijke 'Leccese koffie' met ijs en amandelextract en typische hapjes aan te bieden. Prachtig voorbeeld van een plein omgebouwd in barokstijl, het opent zich voor ons als een vleugel van een theater, aan de linkerkant steekt de prachtige laat 17e-eeuwse klokkentoren gebouwd door Giuseppe Zimbalo uit over het plein met zijn majolica-koepel; in het midden de kathedraal met zijn façade die wordt gekenmerkt door een balustrade die wordt overzien door het standbeeld van de beschermer van de stad, Sant'Oronzo, en versierd met bloemen, engelen en lancetvormige punten, een subliem voorbeeld van fanzaghesco-barok; de Episcopio met de portiek in propylaea, een bewonderenswaardig werk van Emanuele Manieri; aan de rechterkant het Palazzo del Seminario met zijn rustieke stijl en zijn eclectische barok, het werk van Giuseppe Cino. De arena dateert uit de 1e eeuw na Christus.De helft van de C.-tempel werd aan het begin van de vorige eeuw blootgelegd. We kunnen hier de imposante architectuur bewonderen van de cavea, de tribunes, de luchtbogen en de balteus, een juweel in het hart van het historische centrum van Lecce.
Wereldmeesterwerk van barokke kunst, de sublieme gevel is gewijd aan de Slag bij Lepanto en vertegenwoordigt de ideale triomf van de christelijke en West-Europese wereld; de weelderige versieringen en de vele symbolen fascineren het zicht en verhogen de spiritualiteit zelfs vandaag. (Bezoek buiten)
Hart van de stad, het oude Piazza dei Mercadanti uit de '700 vindt nog steeds de tekenen van zijn verleden die verband houden met de invloed van de Maritieme Republiek Venetië, met het Palazzo del Sedile, de zetel van tentoonstellingen en stadsvergaderingen, en met de aangrenzende kerk van San Marco; het plein flankeert het oude Romeinse amfitheater, half onthuld, een juweeltje tussen barokke, art nouveau, rationalistische en Venetiaanse paleizen.

This was a great way to understand the architecture and beauty of Lecce! Our guide was very pleasant and kept us in the shade as much as possible. Loved the coffee he treated us to also!
We had a wonderful tour with our guide Lorenzo. He was well informed about the architecture and history of the many churches in the area and his passion for the subject clearly came through. He was very patient and responsive to our groups many question and just a lot of fun to spend time with. I would highly recommend this tour
Lorenzo is a star. He gave insights into the Baroque, Renaissance periods of Lecce's history, architecture, culture and was always considerate to make sure we could all hear his narrative. We also had a mid morning Leecese coffee (with almond milk) and typical Lecce snacks. It was an exceptional experience.
Lorenzo is a local and knew all the cities and introduced us to the famous local pastry. Warm friend and just a passion for his city and knows the art and history.

Informative tour about the various groups that have populated Lecce and the architecture/archaeology.. We had a break in which we got to sample some local snacks and caffè Leccese. It was a great morning. Thank you Lorenzo.
Lorenzo was very knowledgeable about his town Lecce. He gave us so much information and knowledge about the history of the town, Baroque history and architecture and culture. He spoke eloquently and detailed about everything. He also gave us time to taste local delicacy and share conversation with the rest of the people in the group. His explanation and passion in showing us the town gave us much appreciation and interest in exploring Lecce.
We did this group walking tour with Lorenzo. His knowledge and attention to detail really enriched our visit. It was fascinating to hear how the history of Lecce's inhabitants and religion had shaped the look of the city. The tour was easy going and we stopped for some delicious refreshments on the way. Would very much recommend.

We had a wonderful city tour. You really need an informative Tour to understand all the history of Lecce. Our guide spoke great English and was very well prepared and informed. The tour was posted as a 2 hour tour and ours ran for about 2 1/2. Highly recommend
