Lecce naar Cesine beschermd natuurreservaat Full-Day fietstocht
Beschrijving
Het gebied dat Lecce van de zee scheidt bewijst de schoonheid van het landschap van Salento en bewaart nog steeds de sporen van de belangrijke rol die dit gebied in de geschiedenis speelde. Als we vanuit Lecce naar het zuidoosten rijden via secundaire wegen, bereiken we het versterkte dorp Acaya, een Messapische plek waar u het majestueuze middeleeuwse kasteel, de muren van het dorp en het oude stadsplan kunt bewonderen, dat nog steeds bewaard is gebleven. Daarna gaan we richting het WWF-natuurpark “Le Cesine”, dat vele prachtige planten en watervogels verbergt. We verfrissen ons dus met een mooie duik in Torre Specchia en fietsen terug naar Lecce door een landschap vol olijfbomen en kleine dorpjes

We passeren het middeleeuwse stadje Acaya en bekijken het kasteel en de verdedigingsmuur. We stoppen op het centrale plein voor een "Caffé leccese" (koffie met ijs en amandelsiroop) pauze.
We fietsen door dit goed bewaard gebleven natuurreservaat - waar je bedwelmd wordt door de geur van eucalyptus en andere autoctonplanten/bomen.
Als het weer goed is, stoppen we hier voor een zwempauze, om te herstellen tijdens de heetste uren en het eten van de sandwich die we meestal in Acaya kopen.
Terug op de rails door enkele kleine dorpjes zoals Vanze en Strudà, waar we even kunnen uitrusten. Rijdend door enkele landweggetjes zien we olijfbomen, herkenbaar aan hun grootte en aan de stammen, ware kunstwerken gemaakt door de natuur. We gaan terug naar Lecce via zijstraten tussen de campagnes.

We were in Salento with friends in May 2025 and booked the tour Lecce-Otranto-Gallipoli-Lecce with Salento Bici Tour. 1 week of great weather, beautiful landscapes, good hotels and good atmosphere among the international participants. The booking, the communication, the electric bikes, the shuttle to Brindisi airport, everything perfect. We can recommend Salento Bici Tour!

She had interesting information to share about the area, kept a pace that was easy to follow and made sure we had adequate stops for breaks and refreshments. I highly recommend this tour.
when you meet special people by accident! I would call the experience with Carlo and his collaborators this. People passionate about their work, their land and meeting others. We agreed before our arrival in Puglia various trips and experiences (bicycles, kayaks, aperitifs, sailing, beach, etc.) because we were a large group with lively kids! Carlo's team satisfied us fully, giving a special flavor to this trip, like the figs tasted along the rides! If lying in the sun is not enough... I absolutely recommend it!
Beautiful experience. Carlo professional and very nice and his assistants really always ready to meet every need or whim of us customers. The places are great. We particularly enjoyed ride around Leuca. Tours also suitable for children. Highly recommended!
We did the tour with Giulia. It was just fantastic! A mix of culture, landscape and sympathy. I did the self guided tour. Good bike,well prepared and GPS worked really good. A nice route through Lecce city, the small vilages south of Lecce, the olive groves and to the see. Although, the olive groves are what is left of it, this because all the olive trees are dead caused by the bacteria.

Preparation, correctness and beauty of the places. We were able to reach the nature reserve along roads away from traffic and surrounded by nature. The visit was very nice with trained guides and refreshment attentive to my Food needs.
It was a perfect day to bike. Our inspiring guide Melo appeared to be an expert in nature and food. After a long ride in the suburbs of Lecce and the Cesine parc , we enjoyed a fantastic Picnic on the beach where Melo , chef in natural food, served us local dishes and great stories.
Cube woman bike and Scott.man bike. Scott was brand new. Both excellent quality, also for off road. We went to San Foca, some parts off road. Very nice lady giving advice. I would go there again.
