Lake Mývatn & Goðafoss Waterval-kustexcursie vanuit de haven van Akureyri is een tour die speciaal is ontworpen met de behoeften van cruiseschippassagiers in gedachten. We verkennen het populaire gebied in een kleine groep en we hebben een speciale lunchstop toegevoegd bij het Vogelmuseum in het Mývatn-meer. Daar zullen we een exclusief bezoek krijgen, weg van de drukte. Toegang tot het museum en een lichte lunch zijn bij de halte inbegrepen. We passen de vertrektijd en -lengte aan, zodat deze past bij de aanlegtijd van elk cruiseschip in de haven van Akureyri. De terugkomsttijd is altijd 1 uur voor vertrek van het schip.

De tour begint met een vertrek vanuit de haven van Akureyri waar we richting het prachtige gebied Mývatn rijden.
We stoppen tijdens deze tour bij de Goðafoss-waterval. We stoppen daar gedurende 45 minuten. Het is een van de meest populaire bestemmingen in de omgeving.
Onze eerste stop bij het Lake Mývatn-gebied zijn de pittoreske Skútustaðagígar Psuedo-kraters, gevormd door explosies toen de stromende hete lava het ijskoude water uit het meer ontmoette
We komen bij de warme ondergrondse rivier in Grjótagjá Rift, waar je op de continentale kloof tussen Europa en Amerika staat
De laatste stop bij het Mývatn-meer is het geothermische gebied van Hverir, met kokende modderpoelen, stomende fumarolen en zwavelputten. Afhankelijk van het weer worden verschillende fotostops aan de tour toegevoegd.
We gaan door naar Dimmuborgir Lava Fields, vol lavapijlers en formaties die rijk zijn aan mythische sagen en griezelige paden
We stoppen bij het prachtige Mývatn Vogelmuseum. Toegang is inbegrepen. We hebben de kans om op deze halte een lichte lunch of koffie te nuttigen. De grote bussen kunnen hier niet komen omdat het een kleine plaats is en je weg bent van de grote drukte.

Another amazing private tour with Saga. Our guide and driver were excellent and it was a comfortable vehicle for 24. I'm a cruise agent for groups and will continue using them when I am in Akureyri.
Julius was our fantastic guide for the day. He gave us the history of the area, local folklore and patiently answered our questions. He was a considerate driver and knowledgeable guide and we were sorry when the tour ended.
Our guide was knowledgeable and shared interesting stories throughout the tour. The reason for the three-star rating is that she skipped Grjótagjá Cave, the underground river, and the rift. Those were highlights we were looking forward to, and since we returned to the port early, it didn’t seem necessary to skip them.
Excellent tour around the lake. I loved standing with one foot on the North American tetonic plate and another foot on the European tetonic plate.
My wife and I had a fun filled adventure culminating with the great Goðafoss Waterfall! Our tour guide/ driver Julie was terrific! We recommend this tour!!
We had an outstanding day exploring North Iceland with Maria as our guide. She was warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable, bringing every stop to life with fascinating stories about Iceland’s history, geology, and culture. Maria’s passion for her country is contagious, and she made sure everyone felt welcome and had a great experience throughout the day. She was organized, personable, and happy to answer every question. As Canadians, we especially enjoyed learning that Maria married a Canadian! 🇮🇸❤️🇨🇦 It made for some fun conversations and was a wonderful personal connection. The guide was able to adjust times to accommodate the group’s desires and schedule. We always were ahead of the cruise ship busses to avoid the crowds.
Great use of time! We were in for the day on a cruise and I feel like this itinerary was perfect. The bird museum was surprisingly delightful. It was worth the extra money to have a smaller group. Our guide Peter shared a lot of nice info and kept us moving.
We loved this tour! We had done this exact tour 8 years ago with Saga and booked again. Julien our guide made the day along with all the beautiful sights- Goðafoss Waterfall, Lake Mývatn ,and Geothermals and Lava fields. Julien ket us entertained and provided a wealth of knowledge. It was also a wonderful experience to have lunch locally at Mývatn Nature and Heritage museum.
We spent a very informative and fun time with a small group of nine people and our excellent guide Lukas. Lukas is German, speaks very good English, and can also communicate well in Icelandic. His information is lively and humorous, and his guiding style is relaxed and personal. An absolute recommendation, especially for German-speaking groups
