Dit is geen checklist sightseeing rit. Het is een lokale Kyoto e-bike ervaring door Higashiyama tempels en verborgen steegjes, begeleid door iemand die deze straten elke dag berijdt. We beginnen met het passen van de fiets en een duidelijke veiligheidsbriefing, waarna we vanuit het Imperial Palace-gebied langs de Kamo-rivier naar Higashiyama rijden. Bij het Nashinoki-heiligdom verzamel je vers bronwater zoals de lokale bevolking dat doet – je herbruikbare fles is een geschenk en wordt je drinkwater voor de rit. Bij Shimogamo Shrine doen we de beroemde wateromikuji (inbegrepen): doop het papier in water en de boodschap verschijnt, een slimme traditie en een leuke gelukstest. Vervolgens bezoeken we het rustige Honenin-gebied, rijden verder naar het iconische Nanzenji en eindigen bij het Heian-heiligdom. We vermijden drukke hoofdwegen waar mogelijk en passen de route aan op drukte en omstandigheden, zodat de rit soepel, veilig en onvergetelijk blijft. Als je Kyoto wilt dat doorleefd en authentiek aanvoelt, is deze rit iets voor jou.
We stoppen bij Nashinoki Shrine, een plek waar locals komen voor vers bronwater. U ontvangt een fles, vult deze bij het heiligdom en gebruikt deze als uw drinkwater gedurende de rit.
We rijden langs de Kamo River, een plek waar de lokale bevolking ontspant en tijd doorbrengt in het dagelijkse Kyoto. Voel de open lucht en de rivierbries terwijl we drukke hoofdwegen vermijden en rustigere paden en achterstraatjes kiezen.
We stoppen bij Shimogamo Shrine, een oud heiligdom in een bosrijke omgeving ten noorden van het centrum van Kyoto, bekend om zijn rustige sfeer en diepe historische aanwezigheid. Hier proberen we het beroemde waterfortuin – doop het papier in water en de boodschap verschijnt – een ingenieuze traditie die aanvoelt als een leuke gelukstest.
We bezoeken de Honenin Tempel, een rustig plekje in Higashiyama dat ver weg voelt van de drukke sightseeing routes. We naderen door lokale straatjes en verborgen steegjes, en nemen de tijd om te genieten van de stilte en de eenvoudige schoonheid van het tempelterrein.
We stoppen bij de Nanzenji-tempel, een van de beroemdste tempelgebieden van Kyoto, bekend om zijn grote poort en ruime terrein. We nemen de tijd om van de sfeer te genieten en foto's te maken, en vervolgen de rit terwijl we uw route aanpassen aan de drukte van de dag.
We eindigen bij Heian Shrine, een opvallende bezienswaardigheid met een brede aanpak en een indrukwekkende vermiljoenenpoort. Het is een geweldige plek voor foto’s en een duidelijk “Kyoto moment” om de rit af te sluiten voordat je terug gaat.

We had a fantastic morning thanks to Kei! We started with a briefing on the bikes and soon set off on our adventure. Although the e-bikes are quite fast, Kei guided us safely through Kyoto’s streets and intersections. This part of the tour didn't last long, as we quickly found ourselves cycling through a quiet, green area of Kyoto—it was wonderful to escape the bustle of the city for a while. The itinerary included a stop by the river, as well as visits to two shrines and two temples. Every place we visited was truly unique and beautiful and we also participated and learned a lot about rituals. We discovered wonderful spots that we never would have found on our own. Kei is a kind, respectful, and engaging guide who speaks excellent English. Communication with Kei before, during, and after the tour was also fantastic! Kei-san, arigato gozaimashita!
