Yala National Park is een enorm gebied van bos, grasland en lagunes grenzend aan de Indische Oceaan, in het zuidoosten van Sri Lanka. Het is de thuisbasis van dieren in het wild zoals luipaarden, olifanten en krokodillen, evenals honderden vogelsoorten.

Yala National Park is een enorm gebied van bos, grasland en lagunes grenzend aan de Indische Oceaan, in het zuidoosten van Sri Lanka. Het is de thuisbasis van dieren in het wild, zoals luipaarden, olifanten en krokodillen, evenals honderden vogelsoorten. In het binnenland is Sithulpawwa een oud boeddhistisch klooster. Nabijgelegen grotten bevatten eeuwenoude rotsschilderingen. In het zuidwesten heeft Magul Maha Viharaya ook oude boeddhistische ruïnes. Beide zijn bedevaartsoorden.

Yala safari itself was good. Logistics, operator very disappointing. Did not communicate that pickup was OUTSIDE the port, although many many tours were picking up by the ship. Had to wait for a shuttle. Tour specified bottled water would be provided--it was not. Worst part--driver got totally lost on the way, kept ignoring GPS telling him to make a U turn, then finally got directions from someone on the street. It took an additional hour to get there making us too late to see most of the animals as they were sheltering from the heat. The safari guides and jeep driver were great--once we got there. Others with different operators/drivers reported a great safari experience

The drive was a nightmare. The road conditions were horrendous. The driver we had was reckless and did not listen to instructions. We booked a birding tour but was first asked to take a game guide but when we insisted, they found a "birding" guide who did not have even a pair of binos to help him identify the birds. And it was obvious he did to know much and was merely parroting what we said. Will never ever go to Yala again and will be very cautions about ;booking such tours in Sri Lanka.

Very disappointing tour. There were no interesting animals to see, the jeep was very old and ready to fall apart and there was no tour guide who spoke English. A waste of a lot of money - sorry
Thank you for reviewing us, nothing to say anything because we done our best, jeep manufacture in 2018, after 2019 we don't have new vehicles in sri lanka. and there is no animals is not our problem. thank you very much.
Loved the experience! Beautiful place to enjoy nature , to see beautiful landscapes and explore the park in a safari brings all the emotion to the plan. Thanks for the experience here in Sri Lanka! Beautiful place! Lots of wild animals but we were not able to see Leopards, only some of their tracks.

Very well organised from beginning to end. The guides were great at pointing out the different animals and taking us to all the right spots. We were very lucky to see elephants and a leopard.
