Ga op een onvergetelijke reis door de mooiste bergen van Japan per historische trolleytrein. Rijd met de Black Valley Gorge Railway uit 1953 langs dramatische kliffen langs de smaragdgroene Kurobe-rivier, met kansen om wilde apen te spotten. Op Nekomata Station, het enige station in Japan met “kat” in zijn naam, geniet u van een stop van 20 minuten voor foto’s van diepe kloven en torenhoge pieken. Deze beperkte service maakt de ervaring echt bijzonder. Terug in Unazuki Onsen, verken de warmwaterbron stad met vier gratis voetbaden en uitzicht op de bergen. Dit is meer dan sightseeing - het is een reis door de ongerepte natuur. Als u vanaf Toyama Station vertrekt, is het openbaar vervoer prima. Selecteer voor het ophalen van de cruisehaven de optie "voor cruisereizigers".

Ontmoet je Gids op Toyama Station, de toegangspoort tot de Noordelijke Japanse Alpen. Vanaf hier kunt u de lokale Toyama Chiho-spoorlijn nemen door het schilderachtige platteland en charmante stadjes terwijl u richting het Kurobe-Unazuki Onsen-gebied reist.
Aankomst bij Unazuki Onsen, het beginpunt van de Kurobe Gorge Railway. Stap aan boord van de nostalgische openlucht torokko trein en maak je klaar om diep de kloof in te reizen, omringd door kliffen, bossen en bruggen met dramatische uitzichten.
Stop bij Nekomata Station, het enige treinstation in Japan met het karakter “neko” (kat) in de naam. Bezoek het uitkijkdek en de fotolijstplek voor memorabele foto's van de kloof en de spoorbrug in een prachtige natuurlijke omgeving.
Na terugkomst uit Nekoma wandelt u door Unazuki Onsen stad. Geniet van lokale gerechten voor de lunch en probeer het openbare voetbad. Voor comfort raden we aan sokken te dragen in plaats van panty's, omdat ze gemakkelijker uit te trekken zijn wanneer je je voeten doorweekt.
Terug naar Toyama Station met de lokale trein. Uw tour eindigt hier, of u kunt ervoor kiezen om te worden afgezet bij uw nabijgelegen hotel. Hiermee eindigt een ontspannen reis door een van de mooiste kloven van Japan.

Our trip was absolutely spectacular. Due to the time of year, we had a modified private tour. The railway itself did not open until April 20. But we had a magnificent day of travel into a UNESCO world heritage site, a fabulous very special luncheon, and many other sites along the way in this beautiful part of Japan. I highly recommend the private tour. Our guide Mamiko was fabulous as well as her very able and professional Driver. We had a memorable day that we will always remember.

Unfortunately the railway was unavailable for us so instead we went to a Unesco Heritage Village, in Gokayama. We had some very interesting stops on the way up the mountain. Mami and the bus driver (which was translated by the tour guide Mami) kept us very informed. After the village we went to a local restaurant suggested by Mami. True Japanese food in a beautiful setting. This was truly a fantastic tour. Since our driver was willing to share with us too, we basically had two informed guides.

Mamiko was an outstanding guide. The day was totally memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed the flexibility to stop at very special places. Both the guide and river were very gracious and knowledgeable. They hosted us as if we were their family. Not to miss was the informative visit to a UNESCO World heritage site Ainokira Gasshi-Zulu Village in the mountains. They also suggested a place for a fabulous authentic Japanese lunch featuring a typical Buddhist menu. It was so delicious. What a fabulous day!
