Leg de schoonheid van het platteland van Siem Reap vast! Geniet van het maken van foto's van natuurwonderen zoals bergkliffen en weelderige tropische bomen. Zwem in verfrissende watervallen, bewonder Cambodja's grootste liggende Boeddhabeeld en geniet van een heerlijke picknick met lokale gerechten (inclusief gegrilde kip met speciale sauzen en een lokaal biertje) langs de heilige rivier van 1000 Shiva Lingas.

Eerst gaan we rechtstreeks het echte Cambodja in. Je ziet de lokale bevolking hun ochtendroutine doen, eindeloze stukken smaragdgroene rijstvelden en die klassieke houten huizen op palen. Onze eerste stop? Het Palm Sugar Village, waar families al generaties lang traditionele Cambodjaanse suiker op dezelfde manier maken. Bekijk het hele proces van palmboom tot zoete, gouden kristallen.
Dit standpunt is precies hoe het klinkt. De panoramische uitzichten strekken zich uit over canyons en bossen zover je ogen kunnen zien. Slechts een korte wandeling van de parkeerplaats, maar de payoff is ongelooflijk.
Stel je een 8 meter liggende Boeddha voor, uitgehouwen in de berghelling – we hebben het over 1000 jaar pelgrims die deze exacte klim maken die je gaat maken. Lokale families steken wierook aan, monniken bidden rustig en op de een of andere manier lijkt dat oude stenen gezicht de expressie te verschuiven met het veranderende licht. Spiritueel of niet, hier staan raakt gewoon anders.
Duizenden heilige vruchtbaarheidssymbolen uitgehouwen in de eigenlijke rivierbedding door 11e-eeuwse priesters – waardoor stromend water veranderde in wijwater voor het hele Angkor koninkrijk.
Dit is waar je dag serieus goed wordt. Kristalheldere zwembaden gevoed door kalksteen gefilterd bergwater, picknick verspreid op gladde rotsen met watervallen als uw soundtrack. Dan komt dat zwemmen – koud water (het soort dat je meteen wakker maakt) in poelen die zo puur zijn dat je elke kiezel ziet.

This was a fantastic tour! We started the day with a drive to Kulen Mountain. The view from the cliff was spectacular. Next, we went to see a reclining Buddha and had a traditional Khmer lunch down by a waterfall, followed by swimming. After that, we went to see the “Tomb Raider” temple ruins and finished the day with a boat ride on Tonle Sap Lake. Our tour guide Sam and our driver Theara were absolutely delightful. It was well worth the money and I’d definitely do it again!
Brilliant day and great value for money. Sam was a very good guide with excellent knowledge and very informative! Driver did a good job on the uneven roads and made good time. Picnic by the waterfall was a lovely experience as was the cool waters! Highly recommend.

What a fantastic day from start to finish. We were collected from the hotel lobby promptly. Sam our guide was a wealth of information & fun too. Our driver was fab too - smooth navigation & keeping us hydrated. The stops were well spaced with just the right amount of time there. My favourite bits were the reclining Buddha, a delicious lunch by the waterfall followed by a great swim there - so beautiful. Couldn’t have asked for a better day and company. Would 10/10 recommend.

Fantastic Kulen Mountain Waterfall Tour with picnic lunch with Mr Sam. Just the right amount of information en route. Perfect amount of time at each stop and super lunch. What an incredible day. We learned about the River of a Thousand Lingas, visited the Reclining Buddha at Wat Preah Ang Thom, received blessings from a monk, and swam at Phnom Kulen Waterfall. Excellent Kulen Mountain tour with Mr Kim! He was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of history for the area, he was also very accommodating for our groups needs with walking. The lunch was very filling and tasty, made even better knowing it supported local businesses from the mountain villages. The cold towels and cold water were much appreciated after the hot walk back from the waterfall!

In Our second day in Siem Reamp we booked a day trip to Kulen Mountainsu. It has been a fantástic day. Enjoyed every place we saw.
