Beschrijving

A few things I wish I knew before booking: this is much more of a general coffee history walking tour than a curated Seattle coffee experience. Our guide was very friendly, and we did learn quite a bit about international coffee history. We were also served a few treats along the way that were delicious, and I was genuinely grateful for those samples! But I think it's important for people to know that at each coffee stop, you're served a small cup of black coffee. Our guide actually carried around a to-go cup of half and half for anyone who didn't want to drink it black. And this is really where the tour lost me. I can buy Ethiopian black coffee anywhere. I came on a Seattle coffee tour because I wanted something that felt local, or at least had some local flair. I wanted to know why we were visiting these specific shops, what they were known for, how they developed their signature drinks, or taste something unique to them. On other food tours I've done, you often hear directly from the shop owners, chefs, or employees. In this case, even having the barista tell us their favorite part about working there or their favorite drink on the menu would have added so much personality. We had virtually no interaction with the people actually working at the shops. Indi Chocolate is a great example. There was so much information around the shop about their fair trade products and coffee, and I would have loved to hear an employee talk about that or explain what makes Indi special. Instead, we came into shops, sipped black coffee, had a little treat, and then left. There were no personal stories or real connection to the businesses we were visiting. For the price, I was honestly disappointed. You could absolutely create your own coffee shop crawl, order the drinks and treats each shop is actually known for, talk to a few baristas, and probably save money in the process. I don't feel the guided portion added enough beyond having a friendly guide and learning some general coffee history. If you're really interested in international coffee history and enjoy tasting black coffee, you may love this. But if you're expecting a curated look at Seattle's unique coffee culture and local specialties, I would probably skip it. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this one based on the cost and overall experience.
Incredible tour! It’s obvious that a lot of thought was put into it, and every stop offered something a little different. I loved the small bites that went with each coffee, and ended up swinging back to a couple of stops after the tour.
Scott is a wealth of knowledge and so funny. We loved his humor and take on things around the city. The coffee we tasted satisfied all taste buds. The breakfast items were delicious also. Best part of this particular crawl was starting off early and beating the crowds. We got a good feel of Pike Place Market before people started arriving. Scott alone is worth the price of admission.
Thank you for the fantastic review! We are so glad you loved beating the crowds and tasting the delicious morning coffee and breakfast items. Chef Scott always loves sharing his humor and knowledge, and we appreciate your wonderful recommendation!
Engaging tour filled with information about coffee and a bit of history of the area thrown in. Perfect amount of time at each stop. Highly recommend.
Tour took us to 4 different eateries /coffee houses. The focus was Coffee including different origins, preparation and tastes. Guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of coffee and varieties. He was interesting and made the tour enjoyable.
Scott was so fun!! We had such a good time with him as our guide. He’s a great storyteller and very knowledgeable about Seattle + the history of coffee. The coffee and treats were awesome too. Perfect for coffee nerds or beginners alike! I would highly recommend!
Hi Lillian, thank you for the highly recommended review! We're so glad you had a fun time with Scott and enjoyed his storytelling, coffee knowledge, and the awesome treats. Whether you're a coffee nerd or a beginner, we're thrilled it was the perfect experience for you!
The coffee tour with Eric was excellent! He was knowledgeable about coffee beans and flavors, brewing techniques, and coffee history. He asked about food allergies and ensured I had a gluten friendly option at each of the breakfast bites. I fully expected to have to pass on any food provided, so that was a pleasant surprise. (None of the locations are fully GF; I don’t want to mislead anyone). He also offered suggestions on other restaurants to try. We liked Indi Chocolate so much we went back after the tour to buy more.
Thanks, Becky! We’re thrilled Chef Eric exceeded your expectations by ensuring those gluten-friendly surprises at every stop. It’s wonderful that his brewing expertise and restaurant tips added such value to your experience. We love that you headed back to Indi Chocolate for more—it's definitely a local favorite!
Best way to start the morning with a coffee crawl! Super informative and fun! Love the small business! Ending with an Ethiopian coffee ceremony was the cherry on top! Highly recommend!

We agree—the Ethiopian coffee ceremony is a truly special way to wrap things up! Highly appreciate the recommendation!
This experience was more than what I expected. I learn so much more than I ever knew about coffee and market. Eric is awesome and very knowledgeable. I very highly recommend this tour.

Me and my large group of 11 friends visited Seattle for 4 days to celebrate my birthday. Our Coffee Crawl with Chef Eric was the highlight of the trip! We learned so many interesting facts about Seattle Coffee Culture and the History of Pike Place Market, and, more importantly, the coffee and small bites he prepared for us were delicious! I visited two of the stops on the tour a second time because I enjoyed their food/coffee/experience so much. To make things even better, Chef Eric gave us an excellent lunch rec for after the tour. I recommend this experience to anybody who plans to spend time around Pike Place Market!
Happy Birthday! We’re so honored that the Coffee Crawl with Chef Eric was the highlight of your 4-day celebration. It’s the ultimate compliment that you went back to two of the stops a second time—that’s exactly what we love to hear! We'll be sure to tell Eric his lunch recommendation hit the mark, too. Thanks for the recommendation!
