The spice hike with Lakmal was one of my favorite adventures in Sri Lanka. The hike through the tea fields and forests is absolutely beautiful. Lakmal has extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna and showed me so much. There are a lot of leeches there. Luckily, he also brought leech socks for me, which were really necessary.
This was the best we could have wished for. Shyamal is an amazing guide with so much knowledge of the area and about plants, trees, flowers and animals and birds. We would never have everything he showed us without him. The trek was through beautiful forest. A highlight was swimming in a gorgeous waterfall and rock pool. At the end of our walk we had a delicious traditional home cooked meal. It was a privilege to be able to eat and share food. As if this wasn't enough, I realised I had dropped my purse somewhere on the trail after the waterfall. Shyamal IMMEDIATELY re traced ours for 2 mile and FOUND IT!!!. This guy is amazing. Once again thank you Shyamal
Most incredible experience. Wonderful guided tour. Got a wide range of experience from walking through tree plantations, to eating a full platter traditional lunch at a village home, to trekking to amazing heights. Lakmal is genuinely a very nice person and goes above and beyond to make it an incredible experience for your entire visit to Sri Lanka. He was super helpful in helping us find sources for our several needs and guide us appropriately to make the best decisions. We recommend him as a 10/10!!!
What a breathtaking trip! One of the best experiences in Sri Lanka! Lakmal picked us up from the hotel and invited us for tea and a very tasty snack on the way. When we arrived at the starting point of the hike in the middle of the tea plantations, we were already impressed! Lakmal guided us through the tea plantations, showed us countless spices and types of fruit in the wild and explained everything to us. We continued on to a waterfall where we could take a refreshing dip and take a short break. Then we walked on to the rice fields in the area and Lakmal explained a lot about rice cultivation in Sei Lanka. Finally, we had an incredibly delicious, traditional meal with a family. We can absolutely recommend the Knuckles Spice Trail Trek. It was amazing!
This tour has given us an experience we’ll fondly look back on for our lifetimes. We are so grateful! We can’t rate this tour highly enough. Lakmal was an exceptional guide. His knowledge of plants and nature is fantastic. The views are incredible and we loved the experiences of fresh water bathing, tasting the spices and exploring the knuckles mountain range. Definitely choose the traditional village lunch, it was the best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka! Thank you so much!
The Knuckles Spice Tour with Lackmal by Nature Paradise was a real highlight. We were picked up on time. On the way to the hiking starting point there was a breakfast break in a kl. Local restaurant, that was really nice before. We did not have to have our own leech stockings, they were provided to us !! The tour itself is beautiful: It goes through tea plantations, dense greenery, rice fields, kl. Settlements and gardens. The people we met along the way were all very friendly. Pause at a kl. Waterfall with bathing in the Gumpen and snack. Finally there was a delicious lunch on the terrace of a family. There we waited until our sons came back from the Jaguar trail and were then taken by Tuck Tuck for the return transfer. Everything was excellently organized. Lackmal is very nice and has shown us many plants and spices and explained. We would definitely book again at Nature Paradise, including other tours and rides.
Lakmal is amazing and very knowledgeable, we spent 14 days touring Sri Lanka. He was very polite and showed Sri Lanka we have never seen. I highly recommend, he makes everyone feel very comfortable, equally encourages even though I was not a fan of heights. An amazing guide and an individual.
Lakmal was a great guide, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very supportive catering to all different fitness abilities and making sure we were all safe. We had water in the car at all times. He proudly showed us his home country with all its natural beauty and friendly amazing people. The food was good, a bit spicy, but good, amazing fruits!!!! and the lunch at the village in Kandy was out of this world, simple, tasty and serving of the food was organic, I would go back and stay with them. I wish we had more fresh vegetables. We met her female cousin who was also a guide and she was so friendly. Thank her for finding my reading glasses. Overall a fantastic magical experience of enchanted Sri Lanka!!! I would have to go back with more time to discover the other cities.
It was a very affordable route (about 10km without major slopes) through a really beautiful landscape. In the first stage we toured the tea plantations passing through one of the villages of the plantation's Tamil workers. Then we made a stop at the pools of a mountain river where we bathed. They were not very accessible but enough to cool off comfortably and enjoy the power of the water. In the second stage we changed the area and toured the rice fields that the Sinhalese population cultivates on terraces, given the orography. We finished with a tasty traditional meal at the home of a local family. We were picked up and dropped back at the hotel in Kandy. The trip lasted an hour in a van but it was not difficult.
thank you very much for your kind cooperation
We had such an amazing time on this trip. I would highly recommend this trek, Lakmal really knows his stuff and is a joy to hike with. The highlight was the swim in the natural pool and the home cooked meal at our lively hosts. Would 100% recommend and do again when we come back to Sri Lanka!
thank you very much for your kind cooperation
