Bamboebos langs de snelweg
• Hookipa Beach. Beschouwd als de windsurfhoofdstad van de wereld, kunt u genieten van het kijken naar windsurfers, kiteboarders en surfers die de golven van de oceanen en kustwinden uitdagen. Dit is ook de bedreigde Hawaïaanse groene zeeschildpaddenhoofdstad Maui, met 200 pond schildpadden die zich voeden langs de kustlijn en de hele dag op het strand zonnebaden. • Beschrijving Ho’okipa Beach Park is een van de top spots voor oceaan sport en recreatie in Maui. Dit adembenemende witte zandstrand ligt op Mile #9 aan de Hâna Highway (36) en beschikt over enkele van de beste golven van de kustlijn van Maui. Hookipa Beach is een mekka voor surfers van alle leeftijden sinds de jaren 1930 en het “thuis van het hedendaagse surfen”. Het is een van Maui’s populairste sites voor grote en kleine evenementen. Ook wel de "Three Bears Waterfalls" genoemd, het is een van de prachtige watervallen die je vanuit een rijdende tourbus kunt nemen.
Er zijn 2 watervallen aan de Mauka-kant van het park, die vaak wordt gebruikt door de lokale bevolking om te zwemmen. Als je mee wilt doen aan het plezier, draag dan je zwempak gelaagd voordat je het hotel verlaat. Vergeet niet om kleding en een handdoek mee te nemen. Om bij de waterval te komen, kunnen waterschoentjes handig zijn.
Black Sand Beach • Wainapanapa is het beroemde Black Sand-strand van Maui. Kobaltblauwe oceaan omgeven door zwart zand en zwarte lavarotsen uit een recente stroom, slechts 10.000 jaar geleden. Maak een wandeling langs de rand van de baai en bekijk het blauwe water of zit gewoon onder een mooie schaduwboom. Deze locatie is een geweldige plek om een uurtje te ontspannen, te genieten van een van de mooiste plekjes van het eiland. Zoetwatergrotten en lavabuizen • We nemen je mee naar vulkanische grotten die je zou kunnen verkennen. En als je geluk hebt, kun je zien hoe de legende van de grotten tot leven komt. Bepaalde tijd van het jaar verschijnen rode garnalen, waardoor het water rood wordt. Laat onze gidsen je de legende van prinses Popoalaea vertellen. spuitgat • Kijk wat er gebeurt als een lavabuis de oceaan ontmoet. Op de juiste dag zie je water dat 20 voet in de lucht spuit en mist die zich 200 voet opzij waait.
• Net voorbij het Keanae Arboretum langs de Hana Highway, vindt u een weg aan de linkerkant langs mijlmarkering 16 naar het dorp Keanae. Let op de grillige, zwarte lavarotsen en merk op dat er hier niet gezwommen kan worden vanwege de gevaarlijke en rotsachtige kustlijn. • • Keanae, een traditioneel Hawaiiaans dorp, staat bekend om zijn taro-velden, net zoals hun voorouders. Dit gebied trekt vissers en fotografen van over de hele wereld aan die op zoek zijn naar de beroemde North Shore-golven van Maui tegen het prachtige schiereiland Keanae.

Justin was timely, organized, friendly and informative. He was a good communicator when it came to preparing us for photo opportunities or pointing out things of interest. He worked hard to engage and include the small group of participants in activities and conversations. The drive was beautiful and the stops were well chosen. We genuinely enjoyed the day.

Our guide was Justin and he was great! Such positive vibes the whole day and we learned so much about the local culture. 10/10 would recommend!
We took this tour on 7/19/26 with Justin, and I can’t recommend it enough!! When I booked it, I was worried that it would be too long for my kids (age 8 and 11) or that we would be rushed. Justin made it so fun that we were shocked at how quickly the time went. Nothing felt rushed, and we had the perfect amount of time at each spot. I almost considered renting a car and driving ourselves, but I’m so glad that we chose to ride with someone experienced and educated on the island so that we could enjoy the scenery better. We saw so many beautiful things, learned so much, and felt perfectly comfortable for the whole 8 hour tour. I also want to add that Justin’s friendliness and positivity rubbed off on everybody. During our tour we rounded a blind curve and came across a group of young girls stuck in the curve with a flat tire. I was very thankful that my boys got to witness the kindness of a stranger when Justin moved them to a safer spot and changed their tire - faster than I’ve ever seen anyone change a tire. My boys also enjoyed seeing Justin give water to some of the unhoused population at the start of our tour. He truly was an inspiration for kindness. I feel like this tour showed us so much of Maui and taught us a lot about the islands culture. Justin made this trip comfortable, fun, and beautiful. I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone - our group consisted of people of all ages from my children to older couples, and I saw everyone enjoying their trip. We saw countless waterfalls, breath taking scenic views, turtles, lava tubes, and swam in a black sand beach. We stopped at multiple local shops and got to enjoy several hawaiin treats. Justin had an extensive amount of knowledge about the history of the island and the culture that still thrives. We left this tour a lot more informed, inspired by kindness, and in awe of the beauty of Maui.
Amazing trip! John was incredible! He was so accommodating and easy to work with. He knew all the ins and outs of the road to Hana. My mom is elderly and he was so kind and made her comfortable the whole time due to her limitations when it came to climbing the uneven surfaces. Gym shoes highly recommended!
It’s a long day, which we expected because of the drive you need to make to get to Hana, but we didn’t expect it would turn into a little foodie tour and have so much fun! We loved our tour guide Lepa and all her stories and personal experiences and advice for seeing the island. I thought everything was perfectly timed. As soon as all passengers were picked up we were given our Selected breakfast. A spam musubi or a yogurt with cantaloupe and pineapple. On the road there are stops to see the rainbow trees and you can take photos of all the waterfalls on the way. At at 9am We stopped for the most amazing banana bread at half way to Hana. 42 steps lookout was a great stop after that. Our favorite stops Ko’olau Forest where we got to see the waterfall in person and spend some time taking photos. By 10:30 we were enjoying some coconut ice cream at coconut Glens food truck. The best part is by 11am you’re at black sand beach and you’re given an hour to enjoy your sandwich lunch and the awesome beach time. The way back she took us to some scenic beach rock areas where you can walk around and have the waves splash up, pretty fun for my kids.
Jeff was an amazing tour guide. He is an amazing driver and knowledgeable about the area and history. He made the trip informative and fun!

John was excellent. Knowledgeable. Took awesome panoramic pics for us. I would've liked more time at falls to swim. We did have alot of time swimming at Black sand beach and saw a cave. He stopped for Banana Bread and Ice cream.
