Als de late middag verandert in avond, verken Kowloon op een 4-uur durende wandeltocht met een lokale Gids. Begin in Sham Shui Po en proef klassiekers die door een familie worden beheerd, zoals rijstbroodjes, Bib Gourmand-noedels en sandwiches in Hongkong-stijl. Deze tour is een 4 uur durende verkenning van de Kowloon Side. We verkennen drie unieke wijken van Kowloon, proeven van met Michelin beoordeeld straatvoedsel en dompelen ons onder in de levendige lokale cultuur. Je tour begint in Sham Shi Po, het minst welvarende district van Hong Kong. Kom hier niet voor een fancy gourmet maaltijd. Kom in plaats daarvan hier als je door Michelin aanbevolen noedels en snacks wilt proberen die geen deuk in je zak zullen maken. Hier neemt uw lokale gids u mee op een streetfood tour om de beste lokale eetgelegenheden te ontdekken en u kennis te laten maken met de lokale cultuur en leefomgeving. De exacte route kan variëren op basis van de dag, het weer en groepsvoorkeuren, maar hier zijn enkele hoogtepunten: -Cheung plezier (rijst noedel rollen) - Rundvlees en ei sandwich: - Vrouw taart - Tong Shui (Chinese dessertsoepen) (Dit is niet een Michelin-ster food tour zoals Viator het beschrijft - Viator weigert om die beschrijving te verwijderen, hoewel we hen hebben verteld dat het onze tour verkeerd voorstelt).
Verder gaan we van Sham Shui Po naar Mongkok, een wijk die beroemd is om zijn winkels, markten en glinsterende neonlichten. Een van de dichtstbevolkte delen van de wereld Mongkok is de droom van elke amateurfotograaf. Je verkent de bruisende straten van Mong Kok met je gids, neemt de beroemde Fa Yuen Street Market en de Goldfish Market in je op terwijl we ingaan op onderwerpen als media, politiek en de fascinerende traditie van het houden van vis voor geluk. Onze tour eindigt bij de Yau Ma Tei, een wijk rijk aan geschiedenis en charme. We trappen de boel af op de iconische Wholesale Fruit Market, een bruisende plek uit 1913. Dit levendige gebied, met zijn rustieke gebouwen en retro borden, is een paradijs voor fotografen. We verkennen ook de Taoïstische Tin Hau Tempel en bezoeken enkele van de geliefde verzamelplekken van de stad voor oudere inwoners. Dit is wat ons foodie avontuur zal bevatten: Exotische Vruchten van de Groothandel Fruitmarkt: Een unieke kans om de meest verse, kleurrijke en onderscheidende vruchten te proeven die Hongkong te bieden heeft. Ser Geng (Slangenvleessoep): Een smaakvol en stevig gerecht dat wordt geroemd om zijn gezondheidseigenschappen – een echte specialiteit in Hongkong. My partner and I have been on a number of Cultural / Food Tours via Audley Travel who typically excel and this was our first booking via another tour operator, so there was perhaps a little uncertainty, but Hello Hong Kong and Kiyo excelled and matched any tour we'd been on before. Kiyo is a super passionate guide, with great communication skills from his days in broadcasting and along with his love of his home Hong Kong and deep knowledge made it a truly memorable tour. We were given an insight into each area we visited and the history and then taken to a restaurant that specialised in particular dishes. We didn't want the tour to end. Any future trips to Hong Kong and Hello Hong Kong will be on our list to contact for other tours.

We really liked this tour. Though food focused, there was a bit of everything. We had a quick look at the Sham Shui Po and Temple Markets, called into a small temple and stopped off at a Municipal Building to get an insight into how people in HK live as well as making 8 food stops (and our group turned down a few options). There was LOTS of food! We learned about the cuisine, colonial history and living conditions now. Food was a great mix of the adventurous (snake soup, offal) and more familiar (milk tea, dumplings, noodles) at places that appeared to be frequented by locals rather than tourists. Our guide, Mel, was great - very engaging and obliging in host who we enjoyed spending time with.

This is a fabulous tour! Been to Hong Kong many times but not to this neighborhood. This is where the people live. Markets, hustle bustle and the food was incredible. Our guide Mel was A++++. He answered all of our questions. He is extremely knowledgeable about ALL things Hong Kong. I HIGHLY recommend this tour!

This is one of the best food tours we've ever done. Andy the host was knowledgeable, flexible and fun. We experienced a wider range of foods which were delicious. Some of the Michelin Star rated restaurants were amazing. Even snake soup was interesting. Also visiting wet and fruit markets was interesting. It went for 4 hours and we loved every minute.
