Reisroute

What an amazing experience for our family! Clara was filled with information both about the history of the market and surrounding area, knowledgeable about all the different foods available, and on great terms with all the vendors. We tried so many new and delicious foods, as well as favorites. We would highly recommend this experience!
This was one of our favorite tours of the entire trip. We met our guide, Moto-san, at Turret Coffee, which is on the Michelin Guide. We then walked to the market and had a traditional Japanese breakfast. After that, we walked and shopped the market, collecting samples, snacks and fish for our lunch. We had ice cold oysters, roasted black soybeans, tuna from the Tuna Princess and more. We stopped at the top of the market for our lunch which included how to grate fresh wasabi, fresh pickled vegetables including the beautiful baby aubergines. One of the best treats was Moto chronicling our day with photos that were shared with us.
We're incredibly honored that this was one of your favorite tours from your trip in Japan! It's wonderful to hear you enjoyed experiencing Tsukiji through its incredible variety of flavors, from a traditional Japanese breakfast to fresh seafood, local specialties, and a rooftop picnic lunch. We're especially glad Moto helped make the day memorable with her knowledge, hospitality, and thoughtful photos that allowed you to relive the experience afterward. Meeting the Tuna Princess is always a great highlight when visiting Tsukiji! Thank you for hsaring your kind review!

I had a very fun, informative, entertaining and filling time for a tour of Tsukiji Outer Market. During which I had the biggest and freshest oyster I am ever likely to have! Our guide Yappy was great, his working knowledge of the original market was extremely insightful and I feel like we got to see things many may not. I’d highly recommend such a tour of the outer market and surrounding area, lest you get a bit overwhelmed by the food choices!
What a fantastic Tsukiji experience to share! We’re delighted to hear Yappy helped make the market feel both approachable and fascinating through his knowledge of the original market and surrounding area. It’s wonderful that you discovered unique spots and enjoyed such memorable food along the way, especially that incredible fresh oyster! We’re so glad the tour helped you navigate the overwhelming variety of choices while still feeling fun, informative, and delicious from start to finish.

We booked a private breakfast tour and had a great time with Vasile. He is a very tall Russian who’s also lived in the USA, so he had a great perspective on what makes Japanese culture unique. He’s also a former oysterman and has worked in restaurant supply so has a wealth of seafood knowledge. We started with a quick stop by Buddhist temple and orientation to the area, then Vasile walked us through the restaurant stalls, seafood vendors and miscellaneous shops of the Tsukiji area. Along the way we sampled some snacks like ebi senbei (shrimp pressed very flat into a rice cracker) and fresh oysters. He was also collecting little bites along the way, and took us up to have a picnic above the market, with some delicious sashimi and also excellent strawberries and freshly ground wasabi (the real stuff), accompanied by a mid-morning sake flight. It was a fun treat to have a knowledgeable guide take us through the hustle and bustle of Tsukiji, a classic Tokyo experience. Communication with Arigato was easy, clear and prompt.
Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and detailed review! We're delighted to hear that you had such an enjoyable time on your private breakfast tour through Tsukiji Market with Vasile. His unique background and deep seafood knowledge are always a great addition to the tour and help create fascinating and memorable experiences. We also love to hear that you enjoyed exploring the market's incredible variety of vendors and local specialties while also learning more about Japanese culture along the way. These are the moments that we find make tours and travel truly special. The rooftop picnic with fresh sashimi, oysters, strawberries, real wasabi, and sake is always such a special highlight! We're so glad the tour felt both immersive and relaxed while giving you a true taste of the iconic Tsukiji atmosphere. We really appreciate all of your kind words about our communication and planning process, and we're glad it was so helpful for you. Thank you again for choosing Arigato Travel, and we hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Japan someday soon!
Wiw! Awesome! Our guide, Vasily was incredible. He was informative, fun & really made the tour great. So fun to experience the fish market and to have a picnic of the things he purchased along the way. We even had some sake. The food was delicious. The whole tour was even better than I hoped or expected. Thanks V. Mikhailov!
We're so happy to hear you had such an incredible time with Vasily! His fun personality, knowledge, and passion for the Tsukiji area always help create a memorable experience. Exploring the market, enjoying a picnic of fresh local specialties, and sharing sake along the way is one of the absolute best ways to experience the iconic market. Thank you so much for your kind words! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
We had a wonderful tour with Ully. After a visit to a temple, and a traditional Japanese breakfast in a local market, we perused the Tsajiki market selecting items (e.g. fish, strawberries, fresh wasabi we would grate ourselves) for a picnic we enjoyed on the market rooftop. Following the picnic, we visited a shrine and tour the exterior market some more. Ully's English was exceptional - it sounded as if she'd lived in the US, though she never has - enabling a little more free flowing dialogue and opportunity to ask questions about Ully and culture of Japan than with some of our other guides. I suspect her youthful enthusiasm for running tours also contributed to her candor and ease.
Thank you so much for sharing this thoughtful and detailed review with us! It delights us to hear that you enjoyed exploring Tsukiji with Ully and experiencing the wonderful mix of local food, culture, and history throughout the tour. Being able to select fresh ingredients at the market and then enjoying a rooftop picnic with freshly grated wasabi, we feel, is such a unique and memorable way to experience the local atmosphere, and we're glad this worked for you as well! We're especially happy to hear that Ully's communication style and enthusiasm helped create a relaxed and engaging atmosphere where you could comfortably ask any questions and learn more about Japanese culture. Her passion for sharing these experiences always helps make each tour she leads truly special. Thank you again for all of your incredibly kind words!
Loved the tour, Ully was very knowlegable, and we even fit in a temple and a shrine. We'd recommend her again! It was a good intro to Tokyo
Thank you for your kind review! We're so glad you enjoyed exploring Tokyo with Ully and appreciated the mix of food, culture, temples, and shrines along the way. It's wonderful to hear that you felt the tour was such a great introduction to the city!
