Very poor guide. She should stick to the facts, cut out what she calls her sense of humor and maybe it would have allowed her to show us everything. Several others felt the same.
Arrive at the earliest time and you could see horses on the track. They practice early. The museum was excellent! It is bigger than you think and takes time to go through it.

Churchill Downs is one of the most famous horse racing venues in the world and has been hosting the Kentucky Derby since 1875. Located, surprisingly, in the middle of a residential area of Louisville rather than out in the countryside, it was much different than I expected. We purchased the Museum, Movie, and Walking Tour package, which was about $20 per person and was well worth the price. One thing to know before you arrive is that when you purchase your tickets, you also reserve specific times for the museum, movie, and guided tour. We actually had to change our schedule after arriving, and the ladies at the museum check-in desk were extremely friendly and accommodating in helping us make the adjustments. Parking was free during our visit, although it wasn't immediately obvious where to park, and the lots are a short walk from the museum rather than directly adjacent to it. Everything begins at the Kentucky Derby Museum, where you check in before your scheduled activities. The museum itself is excellent and has enough exhibits that you could easily spend several hours there. One suggestion: don't miss the second floor. It is accessible by either stairs or elevator and contains many additional exhibits that would be easy to overlook if you stay only on the main level. The introductory movie was very well done and provided an excellent overview of Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby, and the traditions surrounding horse racing. Our guided walking tour was the highlight of the visit. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer just about any horse racing question that the group asked. During the tour we were taken out to the grandstands overlooking the famous track where we were fortunate enough to watch horses racing one of the races making the experience even more memorable. Between activities, we also had time to browse the well-stocked gift shop, which is conveniently located next to the museum and serves as the central point for the entire experience. Overall, this was a wonderful attraction and an excellent way to learn about the history, traditions, and excitement of Churchill Downs. Whether you're a horse racing fan or simply interested in American history and sports, I would highly recommend adding this to your itinerary when visiting Louisville. Enjoy!

Took some tweens and teens before we attended some summer races. They loved it! Had great information and served us well before attending the races as they had some mock races so we could learn how the betting process works! Very interactive! Highly recommend!

It’s a great place to visit and the tours are pretty interesting but a tad expensive for the backside tour. I thought it would be more up close but it was mostly a golf cart ride through with a few stops for pics. Hard to see the horses zooming by in a golf cart.
