Kenai Fjords (Grote Dag) Wildlife Cruise & Glacier Kayak Combo

What a great experience!! My son and I did the full day wild life boat ride and glacier kayak tour. We left at 7:30a and returned at 4:30p- it was a great way to spend a day!! Our tour guides- Kendel and Maggie were fantastic- super fun and informative. The boat team- Josh and Monica were also fantastic. I would highly recommend this as a Seward adventure.

We had an amazing time with the crew, Demi and Tyler were the kayak guides, Danny the deckhand and captain Joshua, they were knowledgeable, informative, safe and conscientious throughout the entire trip. All the equipment seemed to be in great condition. The boat that took us out to the glacier was like new and very clean and comfortable, and the crew were safe and well qualified. They provided ample time for us to view wildlife from the boat and were just a radio call away incase anything came up and were needed in an emergency. The guides worked very hard, constantly keeping an eye out for wildlife and directing our attention to catch a close up view. They were also very aware of respecting the wildlife and letting us know how close we can get while still being able to enjoy seeing everything with the least amount of impact possible. They constantly kept tabs on our comfort level, gave us all kinds of information about our surroundings, the habitat we were in, the animals we were seeing, all the while keeping us safe from other boats, animals, icebergs, currents, etc, and keeping track of our time and place on the water. Basically they did an amazing job. As for the food and snacks... there were snacks on the boat that were yummy, quick, easy and hit the spot. The lunch that was provided was spot on! From the delicious "Hot" soup (totally unexpected) to the wraps and sides, everything was delicious and there was plenty to eat. We saw so much wildlife, and were so close to it all, the trip was definitely a trip of a lifetime and one that I am sure we will not forget. Our guides were so awesome! We upgraded our excursion to the Full-Day Glacier Kayak & Wildlife Cruise and it was worth every penny. We did this excursion first before our cruise where we did 4 other excursions throughout Alaska and I have to say this one was the best of all excursions we did. We saw more wildlife, we got to experience the glacier so close, we didn’t feel like cattle herded into a big boat like other excursions. After our cruise and all other excursions, this is the excursion we talked about most and everyone agreed with us that we got lucky to be able to do it.

We had the most wonderful time on our kayak trip with Sunny Cove! Demi and Andrew were incredibly engaging and knowledgeable! We also appreciated their safety-mindedness. The boat ride was spectacular - could not imagine a more beautiful setting. We felt lucky to see: Orcas, Humpbacks, Steller Sea Lions, otters, bears, and more! Thank you all for a truly awe-inspiring day. We'll never forget it.

We did the Kenai Fjords Cruise and Kayak Combo. The boat, crew and guides were awesome! They were really good at spotting wildlife that an untrained eye would pass over, and the small boat really allowed for the captain to put us in position for a unique view that a larger vessel wouldn’t have been able to. We saw humpbacks, orca, black bears, mountian goats, puffins and stellar sea lions. The wildlife doesn’t always show up on any tour but when it does these guys really know how to make the most of it. Our guides Demi and Tyler did a great job keeping the group cohesive and safe, making sure everyone was comfortable and confident. I would recommend Sunny Cove to anyone coming to Seward. I just started my vacation in Alaska and my cup already feels full thanks to this crew.

Even though it rained all day, this was the highlight of our 8 day trip to Alaska. Thank goodness they offered waterproof jackets and pants, and later on boots - we stayed nice and dry! Four guides (2 boat/2kayak) accompanied a group of 10 guests and I loved that personalized attention. On the boat tour they were so knowledgeable about the geology, history, and animals of the area. And the kayaking was amazing! We paddled through ice water filled with ice bergs to within 1/2 mile of the Holgate Glacier and witnessed 5 calving events. The guides (Taylor and Jen) were knowledgeable, professional, and personable. It was a perfect day!

Book with this company! Prior to coming to Alaska, I spent a lot of time researching different kayaking and adventure companies and reading lots of reviews. I am so glad I chose Sunny Cove!! My husband and I had the most amazing experience on our trip from start to finish. We really enjoyed the intimacy of the trip as there were a total of 12 of us in our group, with two wonderful guides (The Bald Eagles), and our captain. This is definitely a great opportunity to get two trips in one. The ride out and back to the glacier was breathtaking and fun to see different wildlife, including two orcas! Our guides did a great job sharing interesting information about the area and the wildlife and there was plenty of time to just gaze at the breathtaking beauty and ponder how lucky we were. The kayaking portion of the trip was fantastic as well. Our guides did a great job of teaching basic information to get us ready for the paddle and got is in the kayaks pretty quickly. Words can't properly describe the feeling of being in the water (safely) next to caving glaciers and paddling through ice chunks and next to curious juvenile seals. If/when we are back in Seward we will definitely book another trip with Sunny Cove. Great guides. Saw wildlife and really enjoyed a nice paddle. Kayak time could have been a little longer but all in all it was a wonderful experience.

The staff and guides at Sunny Cove Adventures were wonderful. We had booked a public use cabin for three days in Ailiak Bay with a guide but the weather was so rough we had to turn back. The crew and guide did everything they could to salvage the experience - they found calmer waters that we could paddle in the first day and encouraged us to go back out for a half day paddle on the third day. Our guide, Matt, made every effort to lead us to bird life and marine mammals and pointed out the magnificent geological features. Paddling among icebergs while watching the Holbrook Glacier calve was stupendous. Super happy with the whole experience and couldn’t give a higher recommendation.
