Favoriete bestemming voor carioca's wanneer de winter aanbreekt, Petrópolis combineert de charme van gebouwen uit de keizerlijke periode met de kou van de bergen en de kwaliteit van de infrastructuur. De stad Petrópolis, ook bekend als de "keizerlijke stad" omdat het in de zomer de toevlucht was van de Portugese keizerlijke familie, is een historische stad met een prachtig architectonisch complex met gebouwen zoals de kathedraal van Petrópolis, het keizerlijk museum, waar het was de residentie van de keizerlijke familie en Palácio Quitandinha, het grootste hotel-casino in Latijns-Amerika in de jaren 1940. Je krijgt ook de kans om het huis van Santos Dumont te bezoeken, die een luchtvaartpionier was. Na een bezoek aan de belangrijkste punten van Petrópolis, stoppen we bij Rua Teresa om te winkelen.

Een stop van ongeveer 10 minuten voor het maken van foto's in de buitenruimte. Het iconische Quitandinha-paleis imponeert met zijn rococo-architectuur in Hollywood-stijl. Dit voormalige luxehotel-casino heeft in de loop van zijn geschiedenis belangrijke persoonlijkheden verwelkomd, waaronder Walt Disney. Het bezoek vindt uitsluitend in de buitenruimte plaats.
Ook bekend als het keizerlijk paleis is een historisch - thematisch museum in het historische centrum van de stad Petrópolis. De collectie is onderverdeeld in de volgende ruimtes: eetkamer, muziekkamer, staatszaal, het kantoor van Dom Pedro II, prinsessenverblijf en de bezoekkamer van de keizerin.
De kathedraal van Petrópolis, opgedragen aan de beschermheilige van Brazilië, is een van de belangrijkste neogotische gebouwen in het land. Deze kerk, ontworpen aan het einde van de 19e eeuw, valt op door de schoonheid van de gevel en de talrijke glas-in-loodramen.
Stop gedurende ongeveer 25 minuten. Ontdek "A Encantada", het zomerhuis van Santos Dumont, vol details die zijn creativiteit en inventieve geest weerspiegelen. Tot de interessante kenmerken behoren de iconische buitentrap, die zo ontworpen is dat je hem met je rechterbeen kunt beklimmen, en het waterverwarmingssysteem van de woning, een zeer geavanceerde oplossing voor die tijd. De toegang tot het museum is optioneel en niet inbegrepen.
Palácio de Cristal, ingehuldigd in 1884, was een geschenk van Conde d'Eu aan prinses Isabel om als kas te worden gebruikt, zodat ze haar groenten kon verbouwen. Tegenwoordig herbergt het paleis verschillende regionale beurzen en daaromheen vindt het beroemde Bauernfest plaats, dat plaatsvindt in de laatste weekenden van juni.
Straat die bekend staat om zijn verschillende geweldige winkels om te winkelen. We geven klanten vrije tijd om te genieten!

Lots of time for shopping in my opinion including being dropped at the mall for 45 minutes. The same amount of time allocated for the Imperial Museum. There was also a chocolate store and a chocolate cafe. Would have much preferred it to have been focused on historic parts.

The stop at the traditional Rua Teresa is also part of the planned route, offering a different aspect of the city, but it takes place toward the end of the tour. I was lucky enough to meet a great guide, Aldo. I was the only French out of a group of 20 people, and he made the effort to translate everything into French, I really enjoyed it. The tour itself was very interesting, I advise
2h in Rio in bus p/ pick up passengers. Running on a visit to the Imperial Museum. Catedral fechada. Very bad!!!
The friendly and knowledgeable guide (sorry I forget his name) took us from Copacabana to the Imperial Palace museum, the cathedral, the "crystal palace", the house of aviator Santos-Dumont and various places for refreshments. It was very interesting. It could be slightly improved by making it a shorter trip with fewer refreshments.
Petropolis is a beautiful historic city, with the Imperial Museum that demonstrates how Brazil's royal family discovered the city and how Petropolis was the first city that abolished slavery in the country. The "Praca de Don Pedro" is also a beautiful plaza with many shops. The center of Petropolis also have "Rua Teresa" which is a popular street for shopping needs. The city also has a newly constructed mall with 3 stories and an incredible variety of stores.
A beautiful mountain town that is definitely worth a visit. Our guide also tried to send us all the information in English. We already knew a lot about the story. That helped. The bus was not that big (about 18) and air conditioned. Good value for money.
The trip was great. City Rio was punctual with the start time of the tour, complying with all scheduled schedule. Highlight to the Guide Marco (Chilean), who led the class with harmony. Being super friendly, with nice information during the tour and always helpful.
