Pashupatinath is een tempel gewijd aan Lord Shiva, vijf kilometer ten oosten van Kathmandu gelegen aan de oever van de rivier Bagmati. De tempel heeft twee gouden daken en vier zilveren deuren en is een heilige bedevaartsplaats die elk voorjaar tienduizenden Hindoese pelgrims trekt. Aan de oevers van de Bagmati-rivier kan men ook het crematie-ritueel van hindoes observeren.
Bouddhanath stupa ligt 6 km ten oosten van Kathmandu en wordt verondersteld te zijn gebouwd in de 5e eeuw na Christus. De Stupa is een van de grootste boeddhistische stoepa's ter wereld en wordt omringd door boeddhistische lama's en kloosters. Bouddhanath is een heilige stupa voor Tibetaanse boeddhisten die hier in de winter met duizenden komen om hun eer te betuigen.
Swayambhunath / Monkey Temple is een 2500 jaar oude stupa, gelegen op een heuvel ongeveer 77 m boven het maaiveld. De heuvel biedt een prachtig uitzicht op de vallei van Katmandu. De koepel op de top met vierzijdig beschilderde ogen symboliseert de alziende ogen van Boeddha. Swayambhunath is een religieus heiligdom van boeddhisten. Twee boeddhistische kloosters in het complex en een tempel van Haratima waar zowel boeddhisten als hindoe-aanbidding andere attracties van de plaatsen vormen. De tempel van Manjushree en de Anandakuti Bihar liggen op korte loopafstand van het hoofdgebouw.
Patan Durbar Square is de thuisbasis van de voormalige koninklijke familie van Patan. Het meest gefotografeerde van de 3 Durbar-pleinen van Kathmandu, het heeft een opmerkelijke weergave van Newari-architectuur. De belangrijkste attracties zijn de Krishna-tempel, met zijn 21 gouden torenspitsen, Rudra Varna Mahavihar, een boeddhistisch klooster met lokale schatten en de centrale binnenplaats van Mul Chowk.

We had a wonderful one-day tour around Kathmandu with Saru. Saru is knowledgeable and shared so much insight into the history, culture, and daily life of Kathmandu. Sara guided us through some of the city’s busiest 4 spots and most iconic spots at a comfortable, unhurried pace, giving us time to take everything in without feeling overwhelmed, and she made the whole experience enjoyable, engaging, and very memorable. Highly recommend Saru to anyone looking for a personalised and insightful Kathmandu city tour!
This was an amazing day and an amazing tour! My tour Guide Kapil was great! We started at the Monkey Temple and I got lucky because the yearly festival for ancestors was taking place there. It was crowded but a great cultural experience! We visited all of the major temples in Kathmandu. Kapil was great at explaining the history and culture in Nepal. We also went to the Bagmati River and watched the Cremation ceremonies on the river. This was an intense experience that I will never forget. All in all a great day! I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to experience Kathmandu!

I booked a private Kathmandu city tour through Green Valley with Saru as my guide. Because it was a one-on-one tour, the experience felt very personal and tailored to me. Saru took the time to understand what I was most interested in and adjusted both the pace and depth of explanation throughout the day. She provided rich, thoughtful context on Nepal’s history, culture, and religious traditions, which made each site far more meaningful than a typical sightseeing stop. What I appreciated most was how she explained religious sites and practices. There can be a fine line between sharing information and presenting belief systems, and Saru navigated that beautifully - offering clear, respectful explanations that helped me understand without ever feeling overwhelmed. She was also incredibly warm and easy to spend the day with, which made the one-on-one experience even more enjoyable. My friend and I had a wonderful trip with Kapil. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the sights and was intuitive in determining if we wanted more or less on each topic. It was a crazy day #1 of Diwali so the streets of Kathmandu were insane.
