NB : De rondleiding wordt in het Engels gegeven. Reis terug in de tijd en ontdek de middeleeuwse geschiedenis van Vilnius en verken het verleden van de stad en haar legendarische heersers. Van oude kolonisten tot de groothertogen, deze tour biedt een boeiende blik op hoe Vilnius en Litouwen zich door de eeuwen heen ontwikkelden. Je avontuur begint bij het monument van Groothertog Gediminas, waar je je Gids ontmoet met een geel bord, paraplu of tas. Tijdens het eerste uur verken je belangrijke historische bezienswaardigheden, waaronder het lager gelegen paleis en het kasteel Gediminas (van onderaf bekeken, zonder de heuvel te beklimmen). Onderweg leer je over de eerste bewoners van Litouwen, de Baltische stammen en nog veel meer! Stap vervolgens de kathedraal van Vilnius binnen en daal onder de grote zalen af in de crypten. Deze kamers bevatten eeuwenoude geheimen, van nobele begrafenissen tot verborgen verhalen die wachten om onthuld te worden. Leer meer over de betekenis van de kathedraal, de heersers die hier werden begraven en de mysteries die nog steeds blijven hangen.

We klimmen niet naar de heuvel, we controleren het prachtige uitzicht op de toren vanaf de bodem en bespreken het doel van het verdedigingskasteel in Vilnius
We bezoeken de werf van het paleis en begrijpen waarom het hier werd gebouwd, leren over de grote historische heersers en wat we tegenwoordig in het paleis kunnen vinden (we bezoeken het museum zelf niet)
Na een wandeling buiten dalen we af in de mysterieuze crypten onder de kathedraal van Vilnius, waar we de kamers bezoeken. We leren over de betekenis van de Kathedraal, de mensen die hier zijn begraven, de geschiedenis van de religieuze ontwikkeling van het land en de mysteries die nog steeds in de diepte blijven hangen.
We leren over de gebouwen rond het Kathedraalplein, wat hun oorspronkelijke doel was bij de vorming van de stad Vilnius

If you love history then this is for you. Kristina, our guide, was extremely knowledgeable. Getting to visit the crypt was very special. I wish the Lithuanian all the best to finally be able to locate Vytautus and place him to rest in his crypt. I was so excited to report back to my Lithuanian (Aus born) husband about this wonderful experience. Now to go down more rabbit holes about Lithuanian history
Great Lithuania history lesson on leaders, religion, architecture, and culture. Our guide was great and definitely enjoyed his job. You can go without a guide everywhere except the actual crypts, but you would miss the stories and facts behind Lithuania.

We flew into Vilnius (from the U.S) on a Friday morning. After driving around a bit, finding parking and lunch, we were excited to tour the beautiful 'old town' area. Our guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant, but I think we were just too tired for such a historic tour. Not sure if it was the material or how it was presented, but we both looked forward to it ending, which we have never experienced on tours before. A few others in our group also appeared a bit bored. We went on to take other tours sponsored by this group and we enjoyed them very much. So we chalked this experience up to jet-lag.

Nice and knowledgeable guide. We got an exciting tour of the crypt, which is not accessible without a guide. Could maybe spend a little more time in the cathedral but overall a good tour that is worth the money.
