Ontdek dit prachtige, maar minder bekende kasteel in Praag en vermijd de drukke toeristische bezienswaardigheden! De oorspronkelijke middeleeuwse residentie, gelegen op een rots boven de rivier de Moldau, werd later omgebouwd tot een barok fort rond een vredig park met een spectaculair uitzicht op de stad. Bezoek de neo-gotische basiliek van Saints Peter en Paul om het prachtige Art Nouveau-decor te bewonderen, wandel door de aangrenzende Vyšehrad-begraafplaats - waar de meest prominente persoonlijkheden uit de Tsjechische cultuur, wetenschap en politiek zijn begraven - en verken de verborgen ondergrondse kazematten van Vyšehrad.

Ontmoet je gids in het centrum van Praag, recht voor de ingang van het Nationaal Museum bovenaan het Wenceslasplein. Na een korte rit met de metro zult u onder de indruk zijn van het betoverende uitzicht op Praag terwijl u op weg bent naar het fort.
Ga de poorten van het barokke fort binnen en loop door het ruime park met verborgen schatten, waaronder de Romaanse kapel van St. Martin uit het einde van de 11e eeuw. Bezoek dan de collegiale kerk van de heiligen Petrus en Paulus (verbonden aan het koninklijke collegiale kapittel van Vyšehrad) die in de late 19e eeuw radicaal werd herbouwd in neogotische stijl en is versierd met art nouveau-fresco's. Loop verder door de aangrenzende begraafplaats waar u de graven kunt zien van enkele van de meest opmerkelijke Tsjechische kunstenaars zoals Antonín Dvořák en Bedřich Smetana, Alfons Mucha en Karel Čapek. Vertraag en ontdek wie ze waren en wat er speciaal was aan hun leven. Neem de tijd om te genieten van het adembenemende uitzicht over de stad en als je nog meer wilt zien, ga dan de ondergrondse kazematten binnen in de vestingmuren van Vyšehrad met enkele van de originele barokke beelden van de Karelsbrug!

The grounds the church and the cassments were very good . The views were excellent a very tranquil place. The guide was very knowledgeable, but for me personally I felt a little uncomfortable going around making the cemetery an attraction when it is still an active cemetery and maybe a little disrespectful. I would recommend this trip , it’s only my personal preference not to include this bit x

Vojta was our guide for this little walk. Visit of the castle and casemates included in the price, the activity is embellished with historical details and superb views of Prague from Visherad. Provide a little wool for the visit of the casemates, it is a little cool...

This review is for the Casements and Gorlice only. I forget the cost but it was nominal and well worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. The original statues from the Charles Bridge are stored there and very detailed and impressive. It was all part of an enjoyable afternoon in the Vysehrad complex.

I got to the full guide throughout this thought-provoking and relaxing tour in and around Vysehrad. It was a relatively quiet venue away from the hustles and bustles of tourists, even though I am one of them. Toward the end, their own guide led all the others at Golice. Unfortunately it was done in local tongue which I did not understand at all. But I got to see the original statues of the Charles Bridge, which was a hidden jewel.

The tour guide was a nice person. However The tour literally consisted of walking around the walls of the fortress killing 2 hours so the guide could hand us off for the Casemates portion. It was just my wife and I. We met the guide at the museum and she took us by subway to the attraction. We did go through the church with very little commentary and the graveyard where she did point out a few graves. Overall Little information was giving on the fort. Felt like she didn’t want to be there. She pointed out a few things here and there but really didn’t go into detail. The casemates was done by a different guide who had every bad English and mostly talked in Czech. That started when a lame video of some glass maker guy. She told to go to the subway and take the train back. On our own. We don’t speak or read Czech so that was not possible we used Uber instead.

This tour states that the entrance to Narodni Museum is included but we did not receive tickets to the museum. Also it says metro is included but we actually used our own metro tickets and the guide did not have to buy it ‘coz we already had tickets our own. The tour is informative and nice castle. Inside The Casemates and Gorlice have beautiful glass sculptures. The guide is knowledgeable and professional.
Our guide was kind, friendly and knowledgeable. It was like seeing Prague with an old friend! Vysehrad is a must-see place.
